Love my Laurastar! – I bought the new Laurastar Smart U after trading my old Laurastar Magic S4 in after 16 years of faithful service. My new Laurastar is a definite improvement on my old Magic S4 which I guess you would expect after 16 years of further product development. iron storage of my old Magic S4 which was fully enclosed. The new Laurastar's iron storage is not enclosed so over time, the iron will get dustier and dirtier than it otherwise might. I really don't understand why they have moved to a totally open storage space for the iron; 2. The attachable sole plate is both annoying to use and annoying to store. Annoying to use because steam coming out of the iron forms water on the top of the attachable sole plate which then drips out through the holes in the attachable sole plate and straight onto the item being ironed resulting in wet patches on the item. This never happened with my Magic S4. The storage of the attachable sole plate is annoying as it hangs on a removable hook near the iron tray where the iron sits whilst using the Laurastar. The sole plate has fallen off the hook from time to time and the Laurastar cannot be stored away with this hook in place and the attachable sole plate hanging on it as the hook tends to be in the way or the attachable sole plate falls off the hook. It is finnicky and awkward and would have been much better had Laurastar designed an enclosed storage space for both the iron and attachable sole plate; and 3. The hook for the attachable sole plate tends to get in the way when removing the iron from the iron tray and returning the iron to the iron tray whilst ironing. As you are ironing, you tend to be focused on the item being ironed and not the actual iron itself so it would not be unusual to grab the iron from the iron tray and return it there without actually looking at what you are doing as you are looking at the item being ironed. I have bumped the hook for the attachable sole plate with the iron on numerous occasions as I am somewhat on automatic pilot as I am grabbing the iron and returning it to the iron tray whilst ironing an item. The hook for the attachable sole plate needs to be eliminated by Laurastar and some other storage for the attachable sole plate needs to be designed.
Other than those small but annoying things, I still love my Laurastar and love the job it does on everything I iron!

Upgrade...of course I knew when I got there that I would choose the most expensive of them all the (Laurastar Smart U) and boy!!! Am I happy that I did.
Words cannot describe what I truly feel about this fantastic smart, ingenious system.. all I can say is WOW!!! What an Amazingly smart system, not only does it look good but it’s a dream to use...this iron is truly amazing and cuts my ironing time down by half, it is everything I ever wanted in the one convenient place, all I have to do is roll the board out into my desired room and off I go and start my ironing...that’s how easy.
With all this being said I have to mention that I have only used my knew Laurastar Smart U once since my purchase, I am so in LOVE!!! With this machine and so completely overwhelmed at the convenience of having everything handy In the one place, all I had to do was open up my board take out the steam iron from it’s wonderful hidden compartment, fill the water tank and plug in...that’s how simple it was to use, for me this is an amazing PLUS as before I would need to move my heavy old ironing board into the lounge, then go back and get the Laurastar Steam iron (which was extremely heavy being an old design Laurastar) I then went back for hook and sole plate, and at times this would drive me crazy, so much so that I reduced my ironing from every few days to fortnightly as I saw it as a chore that I hated doing.
Now I look forward to ironing with my new Laurastar Smart U system, even now, I am counting the days when I will wash my clothes and do my ironing again...this is a new experience for me actually wanting to iron and I get excited and can’t wait to do it all again.
Now for the best part!, when I went in to Trade my old for a new, I was pleasantly surprised that I was given 3 times more than what I paid for my old one, I got an amazing 30% Trade in, $1050.00 discount used towards my new Smart U system, Jenny (Representative) Was so lovely that she also gave me another Beautiful Purple Laurastar Cover as well as a super fantastic Laurastar Clothes Stand For me to use when hanging up my ironed clothes
If you are close to Blackburn, Melbourne do go in and visit these wonderful people, they are all truly courteous and polite and definitely not pushy for a sale, they are wonderful and I personally loved my experience there, so if anyone is looking to Upgrade now is the time, and do go for the Laurastar Smart U system...it is absolutely without a doubt the BEST of the BEST!!!

Very Happy, But It Does Take A Bit To Get Used Too – Very happy with my new Laura Star Smart U. I think it was 2005 from memory that I purchased my 1st Laura Star for around $700. through other irons every 6 months or so. It was very sad to say good bye to it. And get this, I got about $1,000 as a trade in off my new model which I believe is the top of the range, something I'd always wanted. I am really loving my new model but I am still getting used to it. It's really great on delicate and printed garments as well as jeans and heavier fabrics. The staff taught me a few things while I was there and they also advised me how best to care for it. They picked me up on a couple of things that I didn't know beforehand which could have helped me care for my previous model better so I was very appreciative. There really is no comparisons to Laura Star, it's the cream of the crop...

still gets through and works wonders. Steaming capabilities? The steam alone shoots out 1.5 - 2m. It's very powerful, easy to use, easy to maintain. Couldn't be happier. Stop thinking, just get it.
Follow-up · The Teflon foot is amazing, I just use it on fabrics I'm not sure can handle the heat and I've had no issues. It's easy to put on and off. It handles thicker fabrics very well, there is nothing it can't do. The Laurastar app tells you to do a descaling every 10hrs of ironing, once you've done it you reset the button and it will alert you after the next 10 hours. The descaling itself is very easy, only takes 5 mins.
The last top model unit we replaced with this newest model which performs a tad better than the 15year+ old one. A strong point being that the unit turns off after X time instead of continuing to run hot. So easy to set up and ready to use in no time. Ironing is fast and every item looks professionally finished by dry cleaners. If I accidentally iron creases, the steaming removes them without a trace. Good, but some design enhancements would make perfect – I’ve owned this iron for 3 years now. The iron itself is amazing, but not perfect. Sometimes I wish there was more power in the fan for double layered clothes (dress with liner), but I am overall happy with it. have to wipe down the electrical plug for fear of getting electrocuted. Regardless of how you clear the water, it is unavoidable not to get some splash of the plug. I’ve learnt to pull the lead out, but also have to wipe down. I think this element could have been better designed.
This iron is a fold out and leave it kinda iron. You can move it, but it is an awkward process. Equally, adjusting on carpet is challenging, as the wheels are rubber, and create a brake like action. I have to physically lift the machine to get it in place.

Wouldn’t use anything else – I’m on my third Laura Star - not because they’ve needed replacing regularly but because until recently I had a cat that couldn’t resist chewing on all cords! Water tank and Handle – Overall pleased with the iron except the lid comes of the tank spilling water and the handle can slip out of your hands causing the tank to spill and can crack the tank when it falls. This has happened to me. Show details · 1

Makes ironing less of a chore – Effortlessly and immediately switching between suction and blow modes by pushing a button on the iron is fantastic. My only wish is if the steam hose was a bit longer. I use a lot of the pointy end of the board for business shirt shoulders and the wire holding the tube gets put under a bit of stress. Show details · 1

My Laurastar Rocks – I just upgraded to the new smart model after 18 years of trouble fee ironing! It is amazing just how far this model has come and the ease at which it is to use now. So handy being able to remove the water bottle and refilling the unit whilst keeping the iron on.
