Good for a portable A/C unit – I bought the 4kW model back in 2010 and have used it every summer since. I haven't had any issues with it, has worked fine the whole time. Like any portable you can't turn it on when it's already hot and expect it to chill a room down. I have it running most of the day to keep the temp down. It cools a single room quite easily, but we use it for lounge/kitchen areas and as such it struggles.

It is quite noisy, and the lowest fan speed doesn't really effect this. It makes a loud clunk when the compressor kicks in.

One thing to note is the receiver for the remote control is triggered by my TV remote (Sony). It turns the unit on/off, quite annoying but not the end of the earth!

OK. Not great for what is claimed, but ok – Purchased this as a quick alternative to installing a split, as the room had limited options to plumb in a split system. This unit was dammed expensive, but for a claimed 3.5kw of cooling power, we thought would be worthwhile. It worked, but only just. The fan was every powerful which was nice, but it never really delivered what you'd expect from a claimed 3500w.

It was cooling only, so only used during the peak of summer

It stopped cooling completely, and would make a funny noise. Turned out it was the cpacitor that needed replacing. Very easily sourced from eBay.

For the electricity this thing is sucking, it does not do a great job. The air coming out the top is cooler than ambient, and the exhaust is very warm, so its working but only just.

Loud but Effective – This air conditioner seemed like a nice, quiet machine. It was simple to set up and worked fine. Unfortuanatly for me, it was just warming up, and I was not prepared for what was to come. There was a loud clunk as the machine went into the "cooling" mode and the entire thing started shaking loudly. Apart from that, it does take room temperature air and turn it into cold air, so once you get used to the loud shaking, its not that bad.

Horrbile unit! – Had this unit for approx. 1 week before it started leaking an oily subtstance. Substance caused a musty odor which has remained in the carpet and now I have to pay to get the carpet clean :( Very disappointing, you're much better off investing the extra money in getting a wall mounted unit. Uhh kept me kinda cool for like 5 days. leaky, odorous, overall ineffective

A little noisy at first – Picked up one of these Dimplex Model GDC12RBA at my local 2nds World, brand new condition but not the latest model available in the market. Overall, the product is good a little noisy at first but I have also heard other product of different brands being of similar noise output. The hardest thing about installing this product is lifting it 2 flights of stairs as it was bound to house itself in my 3rd floor master bedroom, needs 2 people to safely carry up the stairs.

Overall, my objective was to get something that can cool a room down quickly and efficiently. Quick to cool the room A little noisy but okay
