All dimplex fans are overpriced corporate turnover that cannot be taken apart to be cleaned! Harbour bacteria! – These Corporates deny one access to clean their products by using SPECIAL STAR SCREWS on one side of the unit frame, and to rub this fact in, using normal PHILLIPS HEAD screws on the other side of the frame! See photos below. Meanwhile, inside the unit is gathering harmful fluff, dust and other gunk housing bacteria and God knows what else that they do not let you get into to clean. See photos below

And these Corporates charge hundreds of dollars for these showpony dust traps that do in some cases a lesser job of blowing air around than an 'al-cheapo' $30.00 desk or pedestal fan that CAN be easily cleaned.

These overpriced DIMPLEX showpony offerings are nothing more than a NOISY tower of USELESS 'nuts and bolts' and one urges people to think twice before they even THINK about buying a 'SHOWPONY' whitegood where emphasis is placed on looks rather than performance.

At the end of the day folks, if you are buying a fan the bottom line is its output not its looks.

Also, medico's have proven that unless the ionization mechanism is HUGE (HUGE) that there is no real MEDICAL benefit, and if the ionization stops working within these (or any ionizing units) you will not even know unless you had it tested!

Ionization is a long-gone fad (relic) of 80s that took off after massive American/Asian marketing campaigns that have no value in today's less gullible society.

The only reliable air purification systems are the medically accredited HEPA FILTER purifiers.

Thank you for your correspondence regarding your tower fan. As per the information supplied on the data plate, the model that you refer to was brought into Australia and distributed many years previously by Hagemeyer (now Shriro Australia), therefore unfortunately we do not have any use and care information relevant to this unit.

Please also note that in our instruction manuals for the products that we do currently import into Australia we do encourage regular maintenance to avoid dust and/ or dirt building up on the appliance. There is a notation included in all the manuals regarding the maintenance and cleaning as follows: “Over time, dust can accumulate on the fan grille, which can affect the fans performance. It is recommended to clean the fan at least once a month. 1. Turn the unit OFF and disconnect the appliance from the power supply. 2. Remove any dust build up with a soft brush. 3. Wipe the surface of the unit with a soft damp cloth. Mild detergent can be used for any stubborn marks.” Please contact us on 1300 556 816 if you have any further concerns.

Excuse me! It is a DIMPLEX tower fan and LEGALLY you are left 'holding this baby'. What a shoddy uncaring Chinese clearing house you are! And, my advice to consumers is to look at the back of any DIMPLEX unit you are STUPID ENOUGH TO EVEN THINK OF BUYING and see if they use phillips head screws so you can get into their Chinese turnover to clean access bacteria harbouring fluff and dust from INSIDE the unit and fan blade areas as you can with a cheap nasty $30.00 one!

Thank you again for your commentary relative to this long obsolete product. NB: last available for sale in Australia pre-2009

It is also worth noting that unless you are qualified to work on small appliances, Australian standards preclude your being able to access the internals of the appliance and, in turn, hold us liable should you do so and accidentally injure yourself. The maintenance recommended in our current manuals, as advised in the reply above, should be all that is required to keep your appliance clean and in good running order. As such, unless you are reporting any additional concerns with this product there is little that we can do to assist further with this line of enquiry.

A most difficult and capricious tower fan that has mostly done its own thing since I purchased it on – A most difficult and capricious tower fan that has mostly done its own thing since I purchased it one or two years ago. To be objective I must state that it wobbles all over the place like a drunken sailor and it is impossible to correct its wobbling rotating turns. I do not bother using this particular fan since it last wobbled into the wall while supposedly doing a 360 degree dancing turn which my small audience thankfully decided to roar with laughter as the fan belted the back wall before walloping the piano as it gyrated around until I pulled its plug as it was scoring greater applause than the silent movie I was screening. This event made me just write it off and leave it to mind itself in my Home Theatre tucked well out of sight behind the backdrop. It has made me think worse of a previously favoured brand and wonder who actually checks on whether the Automaton employed to screw it together has achieved this simple goal. Dimplex make these type of tower fans so that this particular human cannot get it open to enable him to fix the darn thing by screwing on whatever has come adrift or whatever was never screwed up correctly anyway. In a fan at this reasonably low price it would seem a waste of time and money to take the darned thing back to Harvey Norman in Melbourne and ask them to fix it since to find the receipt would most likely take me an hour or more to find.

Bad – Good enough for me to return to vendor. Was told that 7 out of 10 customers had returned the fan due to problems. Looks good, didn't take up a lot of space, good piece of equipment on days when it worked. Oscillation eratic - worked in the first week and then oscillated one way ever since. Although on a good day, the fan oscillated both ways as it should.

Good – We are really happy with this fan. We went and bought a round blade fan but had to return it because it was just too noisy and we couldn't sleep. This one is quiet so we can sleep while it's on and utilise the timer to turn it off in the middle of the night when it is cooler. The remote control makes it so easy to use and is so handy. Easy to move around, looks great, doesn't take up alot of space, very quiet, timer, 360°C oscillation and the best thing - remote control. It is not as powerful as the round blade fans.

Good – The fan works well and the unit does not take a lot of space but I am disappointed the Oscillating feature does not work correctly. Does not take a lot of space. Oscillating feature only worked correctly for the first day. Now it will rotate one way only. All oscillating settings rotate, then pauses, then keep rotating the same direction doing a full rotation. On the first day we bought it, it was Oscillating backwards and forwards.
