DX 103 washes well, but a (deliberate[?]) door handle design fault is attrocious! – I've had this dishwasher for about 12 years. I bought it new. It washes well (great). After 12 years of use I've just changed the door side seal and, the door bottom seal. The seal kit cost me $35.00 AUD on EBay and the job took less than 10 minutes. So, in terms of seal replacement, it's good. The BIG problem with this model is the way the… Read more

"built in" door handle breaks. I've have a number of friends who have experienced this problem. The plastic handle cracks off easily at the "pull point". This is such a shocking engineering fault that I suspect either the company's design engineers are incompetent or, they've deliberately built into the front door a "Planned Obsolescence" of such magnitude that it beggars belief.

Basically, you are forced to replace the ENTIRE door handle panel when the small door handle part (inevitably) breaks. (See video showing my broken handle on the DX 103).

WOBBLY WHEELS – Have been happy with dishwasher but the bottom basket wheels don't stay on the runners, I actually have to lift the whole basket into the washer. Now they are all breaking. If I purchase new wheels it looks like they are the same nightmare. The unit still looks and operates like new except for the wheels Show details

Ordinary product – Worked well for about 3 years. Then the door kept popping open during the cycle causing it to shut off.I had to squeeze two small wooden wedges in the door to keep it shut and complete the cycle. Very annoying. The lower basket began to fall to pieces and was just too flimsy to do the job. After struggling with it for a few more years It just stopped working. Glad to get rid of it. Replaced it with a Bosch, all round a much sturdier product. Show details

Really BAD experience – SO DISAPPOINTED - we took the extra warranty out on this machine and in it's life it's had 3 motherboards replaced and other issues as well. Last time the technician came out he said this will be my last time here unless you pay...I said no way Charlie Brown I have the extended warranty...he then explained to me that the extended warranty only… Read more

covers you up to a certain dollar amount and once you reach that figure (normally a % of the total purchase price) then the extended warranty is finished regardless of time left to run...so not only was the machine a LEMON - they get out of the warranty support too...NOT A HAPPY CUSTOMER here.

Has worked well for 6yrs but bottom basket wheels now falling off – This has been a very good dishwasher considering it didn't cost us a fortune and we have used it everyday of it's life for the past 6 years. It's reasonably quiet and has always washed the dishes and glasses well. Our only disappointment has been that the plastic wheels on the bottom basket have broken and fallen off one by one so now it's nearly impossible to push in the basket if it's heavy and full of dishes.  Show details

Ok if you only want it to last 2 years – Broke down after only 2 years. No power at all. (Luckily we bought extended warranty) wasn't really happy with it when it was working. Wheels on bottom draw broke off. Not built as well as other brands but I guess you get what you pay for. Getting a LG this time with the extended warranty.  Show details

Circuit Board Failure - Poor design, no isolation from steam during drying – Although this dishwasher is 6 years old, it has only performed around 100-200 cycles before the circuit board failed. I am a single guy and basically only use a dishwasher when I have guests. Plus I travel a great deal, so the appliance sits there doing nothing. I always wash my dishes before putting them into the appliance and I never put metal… Read more

saucepans or baking dishes into the dishwasher (not that I have many of those - being a single guy). The original Vulcan Dishlex I purchased many years ago lasted me for 16 years. I only replaced it when the cabinet paint-work deteriorated. This later model Electrolux Dishlex has nothing in common with the originalVulcan design - chalk & cheese comes to mind. The DX103 is an import from Poland and it is starting to look to me to be a very poor quality product. I know a lot about these appliances because I worked in electronic product design for many years and the group I managed did a lot of work for the appliance industry - both in Australia and overseas. In fact, my design group became the leaders in this field worldwide with total market dominance. The company is now part of a major US corporation.

The DX103 failed because of either poor circuit board components and/or the board was not isolated correctly from the steam generated from the drying cycle. I am surprised Electrolux didn't have a recall or more "safety" risk issues with this model.

In any event, I called the Electrolux Service Centre only to be cut-off by the operator when I asked to be connected to a technical person to discuss the issue. So I called again and spoke with another operator. I explained how my appliance had only done a very limited number of cycles, and she was very helpful and suggested that perhaps the appliance failed because it wasn't used enough. To an engineer who has spent the major part of his working life in the design and manufacture of circuit boards, sub-components and assemblies - well let's just say I was not impressed. I then pursued the matter some more and eventually Electrolux HO offered to replace the suspect circuit board but they wanted me to pay something like $150 for a technician and service call. The board would actually cost Electrolux less than $50 and I really don't need a service technician to show me how to install a board. All up, Electrolux do a poor job of meeting their obligations under Australian Consumer Law and I am now seriously considering taking the matter further to court through the small claims judiciary service to prove a point and maybe force Electrolux to review their obligation when there is a known problem with a product. From my research on the web I expect Electrolux have had a lot of these boards replaced.

I would be interested in hearing from other consumers who have this model appliance and have experienced a similar problem.

Finish Light – I find the machine washes ok,however the finish light only comes on sometimes. I have used the machine on the eco cycle, the data puts the cycle time at 90 to 110 minutes. I have left the machine on up to over 2 1/2 hours with no finish light coming on so I open the machine and unload.  Show details

Handle breaks – Had handle replaced twice at $160 a pop each time after it broke. Have given up on this dishwasher after handle broke again and bought a euromaid for $400. Also cleaning was poor quality. Our guests frequently complained that dishes were left dirty more often than not. Would not recommend.  Show details

Broken handle – Up to now have been happy with my Dishlex Model No: DX203WK bought Oct 14 even though it dies not dry well & do get dirty dishes from time to time. However, the other day the handle snapped off. I rang the 1300 number and was told it was an isolated incident which I see is definitely not true from current reviews on this model. Was also told they… Read more

could send out a technician for $149 plus parts to fix it. The handle is flimsy. It should last the life of the washer. It has never had rough handling, only normal day to day use. Have never had this issue with other brands. From my experience from service and the dismissiveness of my complaint I would be very reluctant to invest in this brand again. Have written to customer care and had no response whatever to date. Would not recommend it to anyone looking for a new dishwasher.

Works fine – I've had this for 2 years now & works well without a single problem. Considering Dishlex is supposed to be known for being very quiet, it can seem a little loud at times but not terrible. A good clean of the dishwasher itself seems to do well for the machine. Can also highly recommend Appliances Online where we boaght it from.

Great dishwasher – Cleans dishes really well, it is 7 years old unfortunately the handle is broken advised by Dishlex that the new models have a different type of handle. So today I am picking up my new stainless steel Dishlex Dishwasher. After trying several other brands the Dishlex out performs them easily.

Awful awful machine, would not recommend to anyone – I have owned this model for approx 18 months. So far when it was under warranty the circuit board broke and now it's out of warranty 'low and behold' it's broken again. I am absolutely disappointed with this product as it looks like every 9 months or so it will break. I wish I wasn't a fool and bought this.

Ours still going well after 7yrs – We have had few issues with ours after running twice a day since Dec 2007. heavily soiled plates etc are best rinsed off first but that's also true of more expensive models. need to replace wheels on trays and am a little perturbed at replacement costs for a very simple plastic item.

Defeats the purposes of a dishwasher - junk – This product is of very poor quality and design and the only reason why it gets 2 stars as opposed to 1, is because it still works after 2 years. 1) Arrangement - very poor design. Very complex to fit general plates, bowels, glasses. 2) Sprouts - keep getting clogged - thanks to the poor design, the filter has holes large enough to enter the… Read more

closed water system but the sprouts (which uses this closed water) has outlets smaller than the filter. Therefore its a guarantee the sprouts become clogged. Then the machine does even a poorer job of cleaning than it does baseline.

3) Cleaning filter - again poor design. The revolving bottom sprout can only be at a very defined angle before you can remove the filter. Cleaning filters is already not fun, making the filter difficult to remove makes this process worse.

4) Residue - the machine is of poor wash quality. Even using 1/2 amount of detergent, it leaves a residue.

5) Poor cleaning - same as above basically except that this machine really requires you to rinse before using it (I mean rinse just basic foods - nothing heavily soiled). Defeats the purposes of a dishwasher.

About to replace it – We bought this dishwasher in 2008. It has worked reasonably well for the money. We have replaced a number of brittle broken plastics over time..including the handle, the hoses, and the rollers on the bottom of the shelves. We have also had some problems with tablets not dissolving and residue crusted to dishes on occasion..but then again I ran it… Read more ·  1

almost exclusively on the quick30 using a Powerball tablet but, to be fair, it does say in the manual that it is better to use a long setting when using enzyme based tablets like the Powerball. All was going well this morning until smoke and the smell of burning plastic emanated from the dial on the control panel. I have since turned it off and unplugged it and will be out looking for a new dishwasher this weekend. I'm just glad I don't run the dishwasher while I sleep at night. While this situation isn't optimal I must say..seven years of faithful service for $599 (retail) works out to about $1.60 per week..and I'm good with that. Oddly I was online looking at dishwashers and there is the newer model (DSF6105) for $599 at HN that looks almost identical to the DX103WK. I am seriously considering buying it.

Don't bother – 6 months out of warranty and it died. It died because of the reason many people have had, the timer went. To expensive to fix but do dishlex care that they are selling dodgy goods. Why will no manufactures take responsibility for their poorly made goods and who are the suckers that foot the bill, us! Shameful Dishlex.

Cheap can be good – Bought ours 2 half years ago brand new as it was cheapest in shop. Been using it up to 2 times a day every day. Thought we had problems recently but after following the troubleshooting guide we were able to easily deal with ourselves especually with clarification from the manufucturer when contacting them. We have an extra purchased 5 year warranty so feel with a bargain. Can recommend.

Just like every other review - a piece of junk – Same old story as you will read in these page after page of bad reviews. Bought this to replace an old Dishlex but after 2 years am so disappointed by its performance and design. As everyone says, the glass racks are absolute rubbish and won't allow for standard glasses to be put it without toppling over/breaking. Cram them is so they can't… Read more

move is the only work-around I have found to keep using the machine. Anything even hanging below the rack by a few mm will get struck by the rotating arms and at very least give a continuous knock sound while the machine is working, and at most stop them from rotating/working.

Now after 2 years the machine goes only halfway through any cycle and then shuts down leaving a dishwasher full of water, a half used soap tablet and dirty/wet dishes. All the lights go out and nothing will respond. I have to switch it off at the wall to get it to work again, but if I try to get it to do another wash cycle same thing happens. Have checked the hoses, have put draino down the sink to make sure there's no blockages (sinks don't block up so no idea why they think the drains are the problem. Only thing now is to pay to get someone out to look at it. I will never buy a Dishlux ever again.

very disappointed – We brought the dishlex DX103WK, it was on special and plugged as European built (Poland), so I thought we were on a good thing. disappointing, especially when it doesn't get a serious workout. Next issue is Electrolux will send someone out for $134, but they couldn't give me any indication if this was the issue or something else (which is fair enough), but just wanted to see if anyone else has had similar issue and if it is worth repairing before I blow $134. The machine looks brand new still, just seems a waste. Or even if someone at Electrolux has more to offer then the girl I spoke to on the phone. She basically agreed it may be better to get a new dishwasher, well that response I wouldn't rush out and buy Dishlex again.

Money pit. Do not buy this underdesigned piece of rubbish – Handle has broken off 3 times in just over 5 years. Door latch has also been replaced. Just contacted Electrolux to find that they are aware of the problem and will be more than happy to supply handle/front control panel for approx $120 and service call for $135. This equates to $760 / 5years. Add this to price without extended warranty? $1325.00!!!. Beware.

Popular. For a reason – This dishwasher was installed by a previous owner before we moved house just over 5 years ago and, to be honest, we were originally going to switch it out for an uprated model with more features as it appeared really basic. Genuinely glad that we didn’t. It is a rare thing that you get a product that actually works, does what its meant to do… Read more

and, given the price these things sell for, would have to be the only decent value dishwasher at this price point that delivers decent results. It comes at a similar price to the Made in China gang but actually comes out of Europe and if 5+ years of daily usage goes (no rinsing beforehand!) I can happily say that the thing is an absolute workhorse. Honestly.

There are a few negatives but given the overall value and reliability I can overlook. The handle will break. Eventually. Bad design...but...you can replace or just deal with it and open it from the side. There aren’t heaps of cycles. So what! It just needs to wash dishes. It uses a little more water than other dishwashers. Good. It might actually get things clean without needing a 4 hour cycle. We use the eco cycle with Finish powder (why overdose your machine with tablets!) and the results are more than good.

We have had problems with Dishlex (Electrolux) machines in the past but the new generation appears to right a whole lot of the wrongs. I'm glad we stumbled across it in a new house because we never would have purchased it initially. If it broke down tomorrow we would honestly consider buying another. They are onto a good thing with this model and hopefully they will keep selling it because simplicity, results and value will always keep people coming back for more.

If you are on a budget then walk past all of the Made in China landfill and buy this puppy. I think you’ll be surprised. Simple. Washes well. Shouldn't be out the front for kerb collection in 12 months time. Handle design = major flaw in a surprisingly good appliance.

Typical problems – I purchsed based on previous reputation, but as others have noted, 1) 1/3 of the lower bay needs to be empty to allow the soap to be washed out pf the partially open dispenser that fouls the top rack 2) the flimsy 'handle' broke off in my wife's hand 3) the door 'catch' broke so the machine both now leaks and can be opened while running. All less than 5 years old. time for the tip. very little, simple nasty, and designed to failure

Very poor industrial design – The dishwasher in my rented townhouse recently failed, the old model was a high-end Kleenmaid device from the early 90s, it was a great looking and well-designed machine. Unfortunately the unit was recently replaced with this cheap Dishlex model. The unit while quiet is exceptionally bad from a usability perspective. The stacking trays are totally… Read more

useless - especially for stacking any glassware, there is simply nowhere to load normal glassware with no way to keep anything other than stemmed glassware firmly in place to prevent breakages - I can't wash any tumblers or highballs in this machine. I would not recommend the unit to anyone.

Not only do I have a problem with glassware but the design takes no account of those with square plates and bowls, the cutlery unit is far from functional, it's a cheap flimsy plastic arrangement that will not slot firmly into the tray and would work better with the hard-to-remove lid covering only part of the cutlery container. Are there any tray inserts available that make this dishwasher easier to stack?

There is no way to pause a cycle, and no indication of the cycle progress or time remaining. So far I have also seen a very ineffective drying of washed contents with good remaining wet. The instructional booklet is poorly written with a lack of information. I know this is a cheap model and I'd never choose it myself but why is it substandard when compared to machines built more than 10 to 20 years earlier? Quiet, nothing else is worthy of mention The unit is not attractive, worst feature is the cheap flimsy plastic trays and the atrocious stacking tray design.

Great dishwasher - still going strong after 12+ years – We selected this dishwasher after looking at others available and noticing really only two versions available of inside layout between them all - this one suited us more than the other. Also looked at Choice article and reassigned values to dishwashers based on what was important to us - overall cleaning results and cost per cycle (I noticed when… Read more

you did this cleaning results increased as cost per cycle did) we are not interested in saving a few litres of water if it means dishes came out dirty and needed rewashing). This machine came out equal second but was $400 cheaper than other machine. So we went with this one. We use the eco cycle and the cheaper dishwashing powder that comes in the plastic bottles (not the one in the cardboard boxes as it doesn't work as well) and the rinse aid. It cleans all our glasses, crockery and cutlery very well. Does OK with some dirty pans and pots and less well with others. Also, can struggle to clean plastic spatulas that have food stuck on thickly. We don't prerinse anything. Overall the results are better than any other dishwasher I have used before (2 Simpsons, 1 Electrolux and 2 european brands.) We moved the upper basket to the right height setting so we can fit in what we need to in both baskets including cutting boards below and tall glasses and mugs above. I find the cutlery tray OK as I stack it in order with all the spoons in a row, forks in a row etc. This ensures that they all clean well as they are separated. The knives I insert blade down everything else handle end down. We find everything comes out dry (even on eco cycle) - but we do leave the door closed until the light changes to Finished/Complete (this takes a very long time - about 1.5 hrs for a complete cycle) Those who find the items coming out wet are probably switching the machine off and/or opening it before this - probably when they hear the washing/rinsing finish. We run the machine last thing at night and it's ready the next morning. Overall we are very pleased with this dishwasher so far - had for over a year now. Things we like are: * washes dishes well * is very quiet compared to previous dishwashers * cycle takes a lot longer than previous dishwashers * layout of baskets Dishwasher is still going strong in 2021 - would definitely buy another Dishlex or Electrolux or related brand (eg Westinghouse) dishwasher especially if made in Europe like this one.
