DJI Phantom 2 Vision+

Plight of the Flight – Some time ago I bought a Dji Phantom 2 from a store in country Victoria. It cost me $1500.00 plus a sim card which I was Ok with, however when I got it home I couldn't charge the battery. I took it back to the store where they tested the battery and declared that it was faulty. They sent it back to Dji for replacement. Dji responded by saying the battery was over six months old and they only warranty batteries for six months.
After much persuation from the store manager they replaced the battery.
I spent a couple of weeks becoming familiar with flying the phantom before worrying about using the camera.
Once I was confident that I had the basic grasp of flying the Phantom, I attempted to pair the camera with my iphone.
Despite all attempts and following the instructions, the camera would not work.
I repeated the process in the following days to no avail. Once again I took it back to the store who in sent it back to Dji.
Weeks went by with no response. I rang the store, they rang Dji. Weeks went by again, No response. Finally after six weeks I got the Phantom back. Dji sent a report saying that as well as the camera, the battery was also faulty (The one they replaced a month earlier) and they replaced it once again. On my maiden flight once I got it back, the Phantom lifted off and proceeded to fly verticaly upwards without me having any control over it. It climbed to 300mts altitude then began to decend. It came to within 2 metres of the ground when once again I tried using the controls. The result was that it went vertically up once again to the altitude of 300mts, then began to decend. As it was descending the low battery alarm went off. It descended to about 3 metres above the ground when the engines shut down and it crashed into the ground and broke apart. I took it back to the store who told me that they have a flight recorder in them that will tell Dji what happened. This I was very relieved to hear. A couple of weeks later the store manager rang me to say that Dji said they could not determine the cause of the incident and would not warranty it. I contacted Dji directly and told them what happened, only to be told that the Phantom 2 doesn't have a flight recorder and as such they aren't prepared to warranty it. This Phantom was evidently faulty from manufacture and Dji's reluctance to provide customer suport from the very beginning as well as denying a valid warranty claim leaves me angry and bitter. Suffice to say I have not one single kind word to say about them. Not only would I never buy another Dji product, I actively dissuade anyone I know from every buying Dji's products.

DJI Phantom a delight to fly with excellent stability and camera quality – If you have never flown a drone be prepared for a fantastic experience. DJI drone come practically ready to fly straight from the box. You just need to charge the batteries and watch some how to videos. Teaching someone to fly a drone takes about 3 to 5 minutes, its really is that simple. However if you want to be really across your expensive flying camera then talk to the person who sells it to you. Rise above aerials do a really good job selling you the right drone (there are many to chose from) for what you want to do.
My experience with Riseaboveaerials and the DJI Phantom have been excellent. Highly recommended.
Atrocious customer service – Do not even bother with this company, they do not care for your problems nor do they wish to help you. All they care about is securing your money and ignoring your emails.
Easier to fly than a TV remote – Have had my new DJI Phantom Vison 2+ Quadcopter for approximately 1 week. Took out for its first fly after reading the "pilots guide" and reading all the safety warnings. I was pertified that this thing would be beyond my ability to fly. WRONG!! Powered up the remote, range extender, wifi on android phone, DJI app on phone, and quaddcopter and took off!!! WOW, it is so easy to fly it is ridiculous. and the quality of images and video it shoots are amazing. Images in 14 Megapixels and 1080p Hd video.
It will fly back to your feet if it loses touch with the remote and has more features than I can list. Not cheap at $1449 with a second battery (+ $40 freight ) from riseaboveaerials.com.au in sydey but WOW!! what an amazing product.

But this must be amended. I have had it for nearly two years and in that time DJI have put out Phantoms 3 and 4, with various versions of both and are up to the 4 pro. This would be fantastic but DJI have stopped support for the earlier Phantoms - both hardware and software. My Phantom has developed a problem with video feed to the phone. I can still take photos and videos but I have to guess what I am taking. The part in question is called Part 3 - The wifi sender. And DJI do not make them anymore. This is terrible product support. The drones are brilliant when new but dont have problems because you will not get help.
