Absolute rubbish, used it all up maybe 20 hours and gas leaked out, Dometic wanted to repair it but i said no as it only had 1 month of warranty left, so after that it would of had no warranty and was worried it would again break down so i installed the new freshjet at a cost of $1200 discounted price from dometic. as far as im concerned the replacement should of been no charge to me. I wanted the 3 year warranty reason i went with the new freshjet pro 7.

I dont think this air conditioner is very good at all, its very noisy and draws a lot more power than the specs say. I have had this for 4 years in my Lotus Trooper which it comes standard in. I dont think its particularly efficent compared with other models I have seen and used. Its very power hungry when operating on Heat when on Offgrid using batteries. The Air conditioner is better on batteries but still very noisy. Very quiet outside, but in the van its very noisy. I would certainly be looking for other alternatives if you have the choice as I will with my next van.

- Home Insulation Level: Not sure
After using this unit for 4 years it is terrible. Do not buy! I have had two mechanics check it out in the past. The first one couldn't find any fault with it and finally the 2nd one advised me that he has seen this problem with the ibis 4 before and apparently there is a fault with this model that cannot be fixed. it is fine to use if it doesn't get too hot and you're only using it for a few hours at a time, but if its not a hot day it freezes up and doesn't keep it cool. If you have it on for half the day it freezes over to the point that not much air comes through at all and it leaks water everywhere, both on top of the roof and internal of the caravan/motorhome. There is no way to fix this issue and Dometic wont admit there is an issue with it, despite everyone that owns one stating the same problem.

Mine came with a new Caravan just over 3 years ago and started "Iceing up" about 12 months ago just inside the 3 Year warranty period. I've spoken to a few repairers and discovered the "Iceing up" means it's had a gas leak! Apparently a common problem with this model! Phoned Dometic they said if I pay for a call out and report to prove it's faulty they'll consider supplying a new part but I will need to pay the Install cost myself. All up possibly $1000. Repairers said not to bother and get a new one because running on low gas for that long would likely have caused other damage to the unit. Dometic lady knew of the problem with this unit? If we care about land fill and the environment why do we import and sell Chinese Junk like this? I'm having one of the recently released Coolman AC's installed, a few different installers have recommended them, I'll let you know how I go!
Purchased in for $3,000.
Don’t sell if it doesn’t do the job – Bought a new Dometic for our van 2 years ago. Had it in the shop 12 months after. Now it won’t cool the van much at all. I know vans are not that well insulated but really????? Don’t bother with Dometic, try another brand.
