The AC worked for a month before failing. When we submitted a call-out, Mitsubishi was prompt with the warranty service, unfortunately the crew they sent were unable to resolve the issue (which was ongoing for 2 years, finally fixed in 2025). We submitted a third call out, and the new maintenance team were finally able to resolve the issue (which… Read more
was a serious compressor faulty, which the previous crew were unable to detect or determine was the issue).
Excellent unit. Replaced old Medea 2kw unit. But I did notice these inverter aim for efficiency so oversize for what you need. Install easy as perfect in hot 43 degrees day. Surprised that its inverter power usage is half that old unit. But only goes to 18degrees C minimum. Old unit would go to 16C. Show details · 1

All good – All good, great installation company. We’ve been using the unit for 6 months now with no issues, easy to operate, does what it’s meant to do! Show details

Very quiet system with very good cooling capabilities – Bought a 7.1kw split system to replace an old delinghi 7kw split. It took me over an hour to set up the wifi for it because the instructions on how to isn't very informative. But once I had it set up the app seems to work fine but buffers when ever you change a setting/temperatureor anything for maybe 5 - 1 pp seconds. The app tells you the… Read more
inside/outside temperatures but I'm not sure if the outside temperature is 100% accurate especially when the outdoor is in direct sunlight as once when I checked it said it was 40C outside but my weather app said the temperature was only 30C at the time. The air con does an amazing job at cooling I have it installed in my loungeroom and when on full fan speed, I can (only just) feel it in my bedroom at the furthest end of the house. Also compared to my Delonghi its extremely quiet. You can hear the fan blowing out its not really loud and the outside part is extremely quiet compared to my delonghi which you can hear from a distance away to the point a few times while not too far away from it, I have thought the system was turned off. Lastly I had problems with the system not working straight after installation ( not an issue with the actually air con but an issue caused by the electrician who installed the system) and the warranty people were pretty fast with replying to my email and arranging someone to come out and find the fault but they sent me a ton of questions and wanted photos of model numbers/ serial numbers and other things before they were willing to come out which was a pain and took me a while to complete.
Well, the aircon itself works, but the manual is incomplete and the built-in WiFi control doesn't work! – I had one of these 5KW units installed today to replace a 5 year old Mitsubishi that got fried in a storm. I have otherwise found all my other (5) older Mitsubishi aircons to be reliable and easy to use and set up. This model however has been a nightmare already. I specifically requested the latest model with built-in WiFi (the other 5 have/had… Read more
the small add-on WiFi boxes). So, the first problem is that the paper user manual supplied has absolutely NO information on how to set up the WiFi facility (it does have 2 very poorly written brief sections on how to turn on the built-in WiFi server (it only stays on for 1 minute to allow connection from your phone/app), and how to reset any stored WiFi credentials. The second problem is that Mitsubishi Australia has NO INFORMATION on this new model on its website! No downloadable manuals, nothing! Why is Mitsubishi selling this product if it doesn't support it? I eventually found a PDF manual from Japan on the web which describes (badly) how to set up WiFi control. Third problem: Mitsubishi has decided that its existing smartphone app ("Wi-Fi Control", which I use for my 4 remaining older units) will not work with the new unit(s). Instead you need to download a separate app ("Smart M-Air"). 4th problem: this new app DOES NOT WORK on iPhones/iPads with the latest iOS 17, despite the (Apple) app store saying that the app was updated only 3 weeks ago. There is in fact a note in the small print that it only works up to iOS 16. Why, Mitsubishi? iOS 17 has been out for a long time now and contains vital security fixes. I am confident in guaranteeing you that the app will not work on your (new) iPhone as I am a computer scientist and telecoms specialist, but I spent 1 hour trying to get it working anyway. The final problem is that (AFAIK) the older Mitsubishi WiFi units will not work with the new app anyway, meaning that your home aircon control is spread over 2 apps. There is a 3rd-party solution to remote control, and that is to use a Sensibo (or similar) box, which acts as a smart-home infrared control for the aircon(s). I re-programmed my own Sensibo box with the new Mitsubishi remote and it works well with the new aircon. Nevertheless, I am giving this model aircon, and Mitsubishi Electric in general, a 1-star review for appalling lack of support and a non-working product that is not supported. I recommend in the strongest terms that you DO NOT BUY one of these models (there is a range of capacities and model numbers). I have asked my installer to demand callback support from Mitsubishi Australia ASAP. I attach photographic proof that I own one of these.
UPDATE: 19 January 2024. Mitsubishi released a new version of the iOS app a week or 2 back. This seems to have addressed the incompatibility of the app with the current version (17) of iOS on iPhones. Tonight I was able to get the aircon connected to my WiFi by using the WPS function on my router; the app then picked up the new aircon straight away and now allows me to monitor and control it from my iPhone. I was unable to connect the aircon to my WiFi using the alternative "long hand" method of connecting my iPhone to the aircon and using the Mitsubishi app to enter the WiFi security details. I also want to note that Mitsubishi still does not provide a downloadable user manual in PDF (or any other) form. Nor is there yet any consumer manual giving instructions to connect to WiFi. But in summary, my new aircon is working OK via WiFi.

Not the quietest, but design and WiFi won me over – Stylish design and fits my room well. It's powerful enough. Unfortunately for MHI, I also had a Bronte series 7.1kw installed earlier in the year and it's biased my review... it's just better. The noise on the Ciara is very noticeable on high fan… Read more
speed settings and the physics of simply having a larger unit makes the Bronte quieter and lower pitch. We're talking a difference of 62 db vs 59 db measured using an app but the lower pitch drone is preferable to me.
I was initially recommended a 5.1kw to replace my old unit of the same power, but went for the 7.1/8kw. I'd recommend you go for the higher size if your room is on the crossover between power ratings or open plan.
The WiFi was a royal pain to set up. Took me hours to figure it out. The guide was not useful. You need to connect to the Aircon's network first after activating it using the remote. Then setup YOUR WiFi through the App. Forget about pressing WPA buttons or anything.
Outdoor unit is also quiet. I'd still probably get it for the compact design and WiFi feature but Bronte is definitely the way to go for a quieter experience and a large space.
Follow-up · How's the remote control? The remote is totally stock standard and can be operated from the quick access buttons, without opening the panel. I don't use any other settings or timer as the app does the rest. How's the power usage? This is really hard to determine as it depends on your usage. I have it pretty oversized for my dining room/kitchen,… Read more

We got 2x 5kw Ciara series and 2x Ciara 2.5kw AC's installed in our home in central qld (inland) in September 2025. The pros: - They're whisper quiet! So queit we forget it's actually on unless we turn the fan speed up to max. - Excellent effiency ratings. - Has very effectively (and quickly) cooled our very large lounge rooms within about… Read more
10 mins when it was at least 35 inside (39c outside), seems extremely effortless for the unit to do it too.
- Nice to look at, smallish sizes and nicely designed too.
- Cooling is fast and effective.
- Cleaning looks to be easy and there are few nooks and crannies that look hard to get to.
- The outside box parts aren't too noisy either.
- Installation was fast and easy for the installers. Nothing was overly complicated.
- Warranty is generous and we also got some cashback from the company (Mitsubishi themselves).
- I like that the downward pointing option of the vents is actually straight down! It allows me to pinpoint direct the air exactly where i want it and avoid drafts in sensitive areas eg over a cot. Other ac's we've had say they're pointing down but actually just blow the air almost horizontally.
- The features to auto turn on and off are extremely helpful. We can set it and forget it and have it turn on when we're not home to keep our dogs cool once it gets hotter in the day. Saves us having to turn it on in the am when we're not even home or its not hot enough to actually warrant it being on.
- Wifi options are a bonus!
- I really like that the on/off button on the remote glows in the dark so i can find it if i want to turn it up or down or on or off.
- I like that lights on the actual unit are not extremely bright. Rather a softer glow. It allows just enough light to see in the bedroom at night (and not fall over) but not so much that it keeps you awake.
Things that could be better - The price. I'd love it it were cheaper, we'd be able to re-do every ac in our home without having to save for them.
I regret purchasing the Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) Air Conditioner. arguments with both the seller/installer and the MHI area service supervisor, who was notably unfriendly. The purchase was made on August 7th, 2024, and the unit was finally replaced on February 12th, 2025. During this period, it functioned only intermittently. We requested the warranty period to start from the date of the replacement unit; however, MHI rejected this request. As an 83-year-old, and my wife being 79 years old, this purchase has caused us significant anxiety, depression, and sleepless nights. An apology from MHI in the form of a $3,000.00 gift would greatly restore our faith in Mitsubishi Split system air conditioners. "Word of Mouth" can have a very powerful impact, whether positive or negative, on business organizations.
Nice features and cooling effectively – Installed in my study for 2 weeks now and so far have no complaints. Even has some good features I didn't know about such as: - Airflow range setup - based on installation you can set "left end", "center" or "right end". This means the unit will bias the air flow away from the nearest wall if you've installed it close to a corner. - Once you… Read more

Was a bit concerned about noise given some of the other reviews of Avanti - so decided to give this new unit a go and so far so good.
I understand the wifi set up is a bit unintuitive, even for the tech savvy but it is a one time thing. Here's a summary: - Install "Smart Mi-Air" on your phone/tablet and create an account - With the unit off, press the small "menu" button on the remote - Set the mode to E2 (AP) and press 'on/off' - this makes the air-con a wifi hotspot for 5 mins. I never use E1 WPS - it's insecure. - On your phone connect to the wifi hotspot "Smart M-Air-XXXX" - Go back to the app and find unregistered air conditioners. Your unit should now pop up (if not check your wifi is connected to previous step) - Now you can set up your home wifi details on the unit (SSID/password) - Once done the unit will try to connect to home wifi and will pop up as a unit you can control on your phone app - takes 10-30s or so.
Looking forward to its performance in winter to heat the room.

I am very happy with my Mitsubishi Air conditioner and would not buy any other brand. I would recommend this product to my family and friends. The installation was a very easy process, the staff were very friendly and helpful. My Air conditioner handles the high peak demand with ease and it works extremely well in both winter and summer seasons. Show details
Smaller and quieter than our previous air conditioners (which were a different brand). We haven't yet had to use it in extreme weather and haven't tried too many settings. Show details

Love the air-conditioner this summer! Our solar PV panels are easily running the units so it's free comfort for us. We have not had a winter yet to test how well the units' heating performs.
Negative reviews
It does the job, but has some downsides. 1. The app is a bit clunky (it bugs out if you click on things before the aircon list has finished loading) 2. It tends to overheat? It just turned itself on to heat, but the app says the inside temperature is 27 degrees. It was on heat mode set at 22. 3. You can't set it lower than 18 4. It's not… Read more
overly quiet - althougg I do have a large one, so I might be being unrealistic.
5. May be specific to mine or the install, but it had a high pitched sound during heat mode in winter, that would randomly come and go. It immediately stops when the aircon is turned off. I've had the installers come to check it and they said it wasn't an install issue. If the problem persists may need to replace next winter. Is this something that has happened to anyone else?
Ripped off by your staff – The accurate facts are that when I purchased this unit, there was to be a cash back given. I have yet to received this cash back. The first person I spoke with on the phone told me it would be sent to my phone. I explained that I didn't use my phone for banking purposes, but he was adamant that that was how I would receive it. I was informed that I would be sent a type of debit card, but I still haven't received that, either. It appears that someone at your business has helped themselves to my money.. What are you going to do about this? I can take it to Consumer Affairs and ACCC if you would like to deal with it that way. Until you uphold your end of your promise to customers, I will not comment on this expensive unit. Marlene Jenkins, 13 Gray Avenue, BundabergSouth. Q. 4560. Phone 07 4153 6805
Good machine for the price – Indoor unit fan quite loud, even on quiet mode. The speed could be much slower on quiet mode. The app is completely useless. MHI should adapt the mitsubishi electric app instead, as it works much better. Otherwise, the machine does what it needs to. Show details

This unit is replacing a previously installed approximately 20 year old Fujitsu system that was working but getting noisy. As we have three smaller MHI units installed in bedrooms, we opted to update to the 7.1kW Ciara for the larger kitchen, dining and living area and haven't been disappointed in it's performance at all, be it for heating on 3.4C winter mornings or cooling even in 40C plus summer days. Very Happy - excellent heating and cooling – Internal and external units are very quiet and efficient. Power consumption is excellent - about 0.25 of that required to boil a jug of water!! Mitsubishi Heavy Industries were the only manufacturer we could find that had an internal unit capable of a horizontal swing as well as a vertical swing - all others only had manual adjustment to a fixed position. Perfect bedroom aircon – I purchased this model specifically for our bedroom , it turned out to be the perfect bedroom aircon. Whisper quiet, you would never know it's even running. Remote is super easy to use and understand. Cools bedroom within a few minutes of turn on. Show details
Keeping Cool – I purchased 2 units for 2 upstairs bedrooms that get extremely hot in the afternoon. The units work wonderfully and even after consecutive days of high 30-40 degree heat , they kept the rooms cool.
Excellent product – I run this pretty much full time in warmer weather to keep my two bulldogs comfortable and have had no issues or concerns with extended run times. Machine works really well and keeps the temperature perfect!

Ciara series excellent for heating – The Ciara series unit has been highly effective in heating our house 24 hrs a day in a Tasmanian winter and is surprisingly economical to run. Its capacity to provide cooling has been a bonus. The unit fits well into limited wall space and is not intrusive. After previously using gas heating for many years, the unit's effectiveness has been a pleasant surprise. Show details

Aircon in the Tropics – We have purchased Mitsubishi Heavy Industry units before and have never had any issues. When we purchased the new house that didn't have any aircons installed we shopped around but soon went back to Mitsubishi Heavy Industries based on value for money and previous reliability.
WiFi support is a lie and the rebate is near impossible to get. The Air-conditioner works very well – The Air Conditioner works well however the WiFi connection is a complete failure. I am a computer and electronics engineer. The wifi connection does not work and it is well known not to work. Also we bought it under a direct cash rebate from Mitsubishi which was more than extremely difficult to get I don’t know if its just difficult Japanese… Read more

A quiet effective aircondlting unit – Great aircon. So quiet and cools the entire room. Dry mode has been a blessing on these very humid days. It is so quiet that we sometimes forget it is on! Show details
Great Air Con – This product is excellent as suggested by our Air Elite Group. I think having the heavy one is best, so quiet and easy to control. We have had a total of 3 put in now, just 2 more to go. Would not use any other system. So easy to clean. Show details
