Terrible workmanship and customer service!!! – Terrible customer service. One failed repair under insurance and two separate failed rectification attempts. Missing paint, dirt contamination under the paint, moisture under the paint causing paint failure, paint runs, orange peel and failure to correctly install and calibrate the collision sensors. Lastly there is [Name Removed] the rude,… Read more

uncaring non customer cenrtic manager. This guy has no sense of responsibility and runs a mile blaming others for his business incompetence.

Highly "do not recommend", worst customer experience ever!

Happy Customer – At 68 years of age, I’ve just had my very first experience with an autobody repair shop – Domroy in Moorooka. Good news: I am VERY pleased with all aspects of repairs done to side panel, wheel arch and back bumper. And my car has had a much-needed good wash and vacuum, too. I am also very pleased with the complementary assistance, Jeff, the… Read more

Manager, has offered me in problem-solving a totally unplanned and separate matter regarding my car’s console. It was an unexpected 30-minute-long process he managed with care and patience. At this point in time, what more to ask from our local collision repair shop?

Watch out!! – My old but low mileage great condition car was involved in a minor accident. I had a dented fender and cracks in the turn signal housing. My insurance company recommended Domroy. I brought it in and after 5 minutes the worker said the bumper was also badly damaged. I could not detect any damage at all to the bumper. The Domroy worker said it was… Read more

unlikely parts would be available, that the repairs would probably be too expensive, and that the car might have to be written off. A few days later Domroy confirmed that parts were not available.

I took it to another shop. In fact, parts were readily available, and actually the only part necessary was the turn signal. The second shop agreed that there only very superficial barely visible scratches to the bumper. The only necessary repairs were to the fender and the turn signal. The cost was well within limits for my older car, estimated repair at just over $800, so clearly there would be no talk of a write off. After lodging a complaint with my insurer, the assessor came and confirmed the second repairer's opinion. Allianz, the insurance company said it is “investigating,” but that I would not be privy to the results of the “investigation.”

I could have lost my car and been paid out the smallish "agreed-on" value if I had not checked for myself about the necessary part, if I had not taken the car to another shop.

If you have comprehensive insurance on an older car with minor damage you could lose your car to an unwanted write-off if you take it to Domroy. You have been warned.

Poor repair – Domroy repaired my vehicle after an animal strike in 2013 with an apparent lifetime guarantee on the repair. They assured me at the time that whole bonnet had been repainted as had the panels. Turns out this was not true as the paint has fallen off to reveal the original damage. They just washed it and sprayed over it. I would not use this company again.

They didn't get a single thing right – These guys stuffed up on everything with the repair: -the color didn't match -the paint had lots of imperfections (debris in the clear coat) -they over sprayed paint on non-painted parts -new parts weren't installed correctly and had large/uneven gaps -the new bumper had damage -damaged parts did not get repaired -worst of all, the paint PEELED… Read more

OFF two weeks after I got the car back

My insurance recommended Domroy, but after the paint peeled off I quit dealing with them. They didn't get a single thing right and were grossly incompetent, so I had to book in at a second shop to have Domroy's work fixed. The second shop had to throw out everything Domroy installed and start over, finishing the repairs at more than the value of the original claim. In the meantime, I was forced to drive around an embarrassing vehicle with paint peeling off while I fought with my insurance and waited for Domroy's mess to be undone.

Do not go here.

4 months – My car was in this workshop for over four months because I was told my car parts where on its way for the repair but was cancelled two times. Would not recommend this place, take your car somewhere else. Not reliable and definitely not going back. What’s even funnier is they paid me money for parts they couldn’t get but wanted money back when they… Read more

could get them like 3 months later. We’ll see if anything bad has happened to my car to now it’s back...

Not the greatest car repairer – They had my car for 15 days prior to drop off I have taken the liberty of cleaning my car inside and out just to make it easier on them. I had damage to my front bumper, rear bumper and tailgate boot door. When I picked up my car the first noticeable thing was 1 of my head lights had been replaced which made the other headlight look old even… Read more

though they were both working fine before hand and also my car was dirty, I have been to a body shop before and most will detail a car before they hand it back. Its very irritating knowing when I left my car it was in a shiner condition then when collected.

Not Prestige Body Repairs - Not Recommended - Toxic fumes and various problems - Bad follow-up - Not – In 2014 I made the big mistake of taking my vehicle here. Problems were many, and followup was quite poor. - covered entirely in sawdust on pickup (it was well cleaned before I left it with them) - poor colour match, poor clear coat polish - then over polished clear coat - completely from a rear section, and pulled chips in bonnet (where… Read more

there were none visible

- paint cracked all way down inside of door crease

- plastic bits not properly attached

- front bumper section slightly misaligned

- underneath rubber covering of wheel arch not even screwed in and later came loose & ruined

- inside of car stank of fume vapours which meant the inside of car was not properly sealed off during praying, inside of car stank badly for couple of weeks and my insurer got a cleaner who nearly suffocated from the fumes inside my car - repeatedly asked them for the material safety data sheets which under WHS regulations they must hold and immediately provide.

It was as if they let an inexperienced apprentice loose on my car. Definitely not prestige and not worth using. Bad followup and non-communicative. Should have reported them to the division of WHS Inspectorate as there was a real safety breach inside their Workshop for the inside of my car to be soaked in toxic isocyanate fumes for a couple of weeks. They never properly sealed the inside of my car and the guy my insurer sent to clean my car felt crook from the toxic isocyanate fumes inside my car. Workplace health and safety breach and risk. Ludicrous. Definitely not recommended. Not worth the risks.

So happy with panel beating and also admin staff – My car was extensively damaged in the November 14 hail. The work to repair it was beautifully done and furthermore I received regular updates from admin staff re timeframes; my expectations were always managed and exceeded.

Avoid this company at all costs- I was left with an unsafe motor vehicle – Below is the exact email I have sent to AAMI Dear Sir/Madam, I would just like to make you aware of the poor quality work your repairer has done to my vehicle. (Domroy Prestige Auto Body at Mooroka) I have just cancelled my policy as I have had no option but to trade in my toyota 86. I bought this car brand new and it was a dream to… Read more

drive. After the Repairs were completed I was left with an unsafe, ugly and broken motor vehicle. Please find attached pictures of some of the faults I have been left with.

The first picture shows the plastic on the dash lifting up.

The second picture shows the broken plastic that was never replaced.

To be honest, I am devastated. I bought this car for the joy of driving, it handled exceptionally and had great power.

After the repairs, the car had a constant vibration through the steering wheel at any speed, there was an air gap on the drivers door which whistled wind in, the seatbelt did not retract back into place on the drivers side, and there was smashed plastic to the left of the pedals. They had to replace the fuse box, as this was also smashed in the accident. My biggest fear ( apart from the seatbelt not working in the event of another accident) was the electrical side of the repairs. If they did such a poor job on the easy to see things, what kind of a mess did they make of the wiring?

I should probably explain how this all came about.

Driving to work, while it was still dark, I hit a kangaroo doing 100kms per hour. To my way of thinking there was extensive damage. The air bags went off, the front was smashed the drivers side quarter panel was totalled, and the drivers door was also damaged. ($24 579 worth of repairs)

It took a week to get the bad news that the car would be repaired, and then took two MONTHS to have the job done.

I didn't have a hire car on the policy, so was well and truly stuck for an extended period of time. When I picked up the vehicle, there was obvious signs of poor workmanship. There was a bolt on the bonnet that was still loose, and they had "lost" the boot release button out of the dash which they had to reorder from Japan.

That was another trip back to the repairers to have it fitted once it had arrived.

This is the first time in my life I have made a claim on any insurance policy. To say that the experience has been traumatic would be an understatement. You never expect anything to happen, but you pay every year just in case.

My Boss told me that I should take the car back to have the repairs done properly, but I can't afford to be without a vehicle for another extended period of time, so I traded it in. I got $26 000 on a car I paid $39 100 for. Not the outcome on a car I wanted to keep for a very long time.

I also think it is strange that there was only one quote submitted, as I thought that usually there are a number of business that will quote on a job. Were there other quotes that said the car was beyond repair? I suppose I will never know.

I feel AAMI has well and truly let me down. Honestly, I expected my car back in the same condition as it was before the accident. That is what I pay insurance for. What is the point of a lifetime guarantee on repairs if it means taking it back to the place that did a pathetic job on the car the first time and second time round?

I understand that there is nothing you can do about this, but I did want to make you aware of the poor workmanship of Domory Prestige Auto Body.

Thank you for listening.
