 AI reviews summary

Schmick Car Care Club elicits highly polarised feedback, with sentiment split between praise for the technical skill of individual repairers and significant frustration regarding the membership's value and claim approval process. While the quality of physical repairs is frequently described as "as-new," a substantial segment of users reports that the service is difficult to access due to strict exclusions, long wait times, and a cumbersome app-based booking system.

Pros
High-Quality Workmanship: Technicians are consistently praised for their attention to detail, with many users noting that scratches, dents, and alloy wheel repairs are virtually invisible upon completion.
Professional Personnel: Individual technicians are frequently described as punctual, polite, and communicative, often providing "as Swiss watch" timing and clear explanations of the repair process.
Convenience of Mobile Service: The ability to have minor cosmetic repairs performed at home or a workshop is a major highlight for those who successfully navigate the booking process.
Effective Alloy Repairs: The service is particularly well-regarded for restoring "gutter rash" and rim damage to a factory-new appearance.
Cons
Frequent Claim Rejections: A significant number of users report that their claims were denied for being "outside of scope," citing strict rules regarding "style lines," specific panels (roofs/bonnets), and damage size.
Lengthy Wait Times: Booking a repair often involves a multi-week or multi-month wait, with some users reporting delays of up to 60 days from the initial request to the actual appointment.
Cumbersome Booking Process: The mandatory app requires excessive photo evidence and has been described as non-user-friendly, with slow response times from the customer service team.
Perceived Poor Value: Many members feel the upfront cost (often over $600) combined with a $50 per-repair fee is not economical, especially when multiple claims are rejected.
Verdict

Schmick Car Care Club is a service where the quality of the end result is excellent, provided the damage meets their highly specific repair criteria. Prospective members should carefully review the extensive list of exclusions and "out of scope" panels before joining, as the membership is best suited for those seeking high-end cosmetic maintenance rather than comprehensive damage protection.

Jake was excellent. We met on time and he inspected the scratches and stone chips, explained what he would do and time he would be finished. He texted me when he was almost finished which made our timing for car pick up easy. He then showed me all the work he had done which was excellent. Great service and can highly recommend.

We were sold this as a no hassle policy, only find out there were so many conditions (see below, as these restrictions probably rule out 95% of Melbourne if not more!). We had already supplied photos of the damage and after sending the below restriction they asked for more photos of the damage. We asked to cancel the policy, as we couldn't meet… Read more

their critrea. They then told us they could use our small driveway and they could do all everything, but repair the matte grey paint scratches. This is a clear case of mis-selling of insurance. We would never have taken this out, if they had told us the restrictions upfront and the fact that they don't do matte paint repairs. It was also a huge hassle to cancel this and they then had the audacity to ask us to pay for the welcome pack they sent to us (most of which is to polish a shiny car). We told them to come pick it up, as even if we could use it, we wouldn't!

"Can you please confirm (with photos) that you have a garage or private driveway for the technician that meets these guidelines? If this is a different address to the one on your membership, can you please provide me with the new address? Once I have this information I will be able to process your repair request for you. Minimum 2 metres clear around the repair area Room for our technicians van to be parked next to your vehicle without blocking any access or driveways Good lighting and air flow No other cars surrounding yours Not accessible to the general public Access to power within 20 metres No sprinklers around this area Not in an underground/basement carpark Cannot be done in an apartment complex If you don't have a suitable workspace at your home we could potentially have you booked in at a friend or family members address that would be happy for us to repair your vehicle there or we do have a repair site at Knoxfeild."

Last time I ever purchase – After 3 attempts on repairing a scratch on my passenger side pillar on my GTI, and some weeks later, I’m still waiting on a call to complete my repair. I have overspray on the windows and roof and it is full of swirls. Update Feb 25 purchased my new TRoc R. Schmick balance was transferred to this vehicle but wouldn’t let them near it. They never… Read more

completed my repair nor contacted me when I asked to speak to management. So clearly they do not give a fook.

Excellent car and customer service – Excellent service. From the day our car got the scratch, I was worried about the cost. Glad that we had schmick membership - the repair costed minor charges of 50$. They have excellent car repair services. They even washed my car for no additional cost. My car is looking new again.

Huge thanks to Steve at Schmick for the incredible job on my iX. He handled the repair with such precision that you'd never know there was ever a mark on it. It’s rare to find such high-quality workmanship and attention to detail. Steve is an absolute asset to the company. Highly recommend his services!"

They refuse to fix my little dent of 3 cm, absolutely contradictory from what their claim on their advertising and brochure. Very late response (in 5 days) once you submit your job request. What a waste of money, don't fall in their trap. Go somewhere else better and stay away from this kind of scamming.

I'm extremely disappointed with the service I received from Schmick. Although Simon was great and did his best, the outcome was underwhelming. I had to wait three months for the appointment, only to be told that they couldn't fix the issue due to the 3-coated paint. This raises the question of why they sold me the program in the first place. The… Read more

whole experience felt like a waste of money. However, Simon's professionalism and decision not to charge me the $50 fee were appreciated.

I want give 0 star rate if I can. Worise than Terrible. Schmick membership is wasting money at all. I was request fix my scratch on my car, but been rejected as been said it is outside the scope of what can be repaired under your membership. photo can show it is only few mm longer than 6cm. Also the booklet showing the area is repairable area for… Read more

deep scratches. It is disappointing for them to reject work. Also Schmick removed my requirement from APP straight away.

I was bought 3 years membership from dealer, which dealer told me they can fix most scratch and dents. This is first time request repair since hold membership over 1.5 year.

I will be seeking a refund and cancel this membership if the repair is not carried out. I will also be lodging this with the NSW Department of Fair Trading.

Schmick Scratch and dent Assist no 1 – My car was dented at passenger side of the rear wheel above. Darren and his team true to their word did magic and restored my car as it was. No one was ready to do the job. People in Sydney just take money and when time of repairs comes run away or… Read more

make excuses. But today with no doubt in my mind I can swear that darren and his team with Omar has skills to make your car look so original as if from factory when they are hits,or scratches or anything they have on cars they have all answers to it. I recommend them not 100% but 500% to anyone. What compassion he shows to customer is remarkable. After 20 years in Sydney I found who can give the best service against cost versus service. Keep it up Darren and I hope that you continue this work of customer care with passion.

Follow-up  · Hi yes it took 2 days and they offered a warranty of a year. They did not charged me a penny as in the membership which i took for 5 years got everything covered. The membership costed me $2000 only for 5 years and they did to show how good they are. Still i do have the car done by them and you can have a look at their work

I organised for a deep scratch on my driver’s door to be fixed. I communicated through text for date & time. I left my car in the carport & received punctual communication when the car was fixed. I was able to complete payment electronically. Great job!!

Follow-up  · The scratch was caused by a school bag buckle. The paint colour was as matched perfectly. The scratch was was deeper than a surface scratch.

Extremely disappointed. Requested repair of stone chips on bonnet, one with a small dent from stone impact. I specified the paint and described the dent with photos. Took 2 months for the technician to arrive, and an hour later than booked as… Read more

apparently there is no travel time allowed between jobs. Technician said they don't repair dents on bonnets - first I'd heard and not specified anywhere I can see - and that the colour wouldn't match as he only carries a generic white. No preparation, only a dab of paint, so the chip is still there and now more prominent as the paint is wrong. I could have done a berrer job with a tin of model paint. Terrible rip-off and false promotion of services.

Follow-up  · Schmick did contact me after this review and acknowledged that the repair was substandard and refunded the repair cost. This still leaves me out of pocket for the subscription and with little confidence in using the service paid for to achieve the intended result.

I currently hold two memberships with Schmick Car Care Club, but my recent experience has been very poor. On April 22nd, I submitted a repair request via the app. Two days later, I was told the bookings team would contact me "shortly." After almost three weeks of silence, I had to call them myself. I finally have a booking, but it isn’t for… Read more

another month. From start to finish, the process will have taken nearly two months. If I hadn't proactively called them to follow up, I suspect it would have taken even longer. Paying a membership fee plus $100 for two dents feels like poor value when the service is this slow.

To make matters worse, I tried to cancel a second membership for a new car I picked up less than two weeks ago. I was informed that they only offer a 7-day cooling-off period. It is quite frustrating that they expect customers to adhere to a strict 7-day window when it takes the company nearly 60 days to actually facilitate a simple repair.

Knowing what I know now, I wouldn't have bothered with the memberships. I would have been better off using a local mobile scratch and dent repairer for a faster, more professional result.

My opinion: Not worth it.

A call out to repair scratched alloy wheel and a minor scratch on side panel was fixed by Jimi professionally. appreciated that! Great customer service indeed! So the whole job cost us $50 only which is a bargain! For whose reviewers complaining about the repair claims that are not covered/declined under Schmick membership, may need to consider how the membership was sold to them by car dealership consultants to ensure the membership was not over sold to them first place as Schmick is only for minor/cosmetic repairs that would still save you money and time by having Schmick in the long run. We’ve had Schmick memberships for years in different states and never ever had any issues with getting cosmetic damages fixed professionally that has literally saved us thousands of dollars over the years! Especially from cosmetic damage repairs to the alloy wheels we all know about!

I’ve been a Schmick member for over 7 years now and wanted to share an honest long-term review. When I first joined, the service was excellent — for the first five years I never experienced any claim rejections. All repair work carried out during that time was pristine and completed to a very high professional standard. The technicians who… Read more

attended were always punctual, well presented, polite, and clearly skilled in their work.

Over the last two years, however, it does feel like the policy has become stricter, with more limitations on what is covered and additional rules now in place. While I understand policies evolve, the change has been noticeable compared to when I first signed up.

That said, the technicians themselves continue to be outstanding, recently had Anthony fix my scratched rims; he was professional, courteous, and reliable when attending bookings. My only area for improvement would be communication from customer care. On my most recent enquiry, it took a few weeks to receive a response. A little more timely communication and updates would make the overall experience much better.

Overall, still a professional service with excellent technicians, but clearer communication and more consistency with earlier coverage would really enhance member satisfaction.

Pressure Sale tactics from Car Dealer to get this service. Cost $636 for 3 Years. Repair bookings via Schmick App only. The Car Dealer refuses to take a booking. I had a small chip in the drivers door less than 1mm they refused the repair as they said the whole door would need to be repainted. Wast of money seams like a scam. I was pressured to buy this with my new car at Lander Toyota. I won’t be buying another Toyota again.

Very disappointing, not worth the money. They never accept a claim! I've tried on 3 separate occasions to claim, but they always have some excuse. They take ages to progress anything, then end up rejecting the claim. I definitely WON'T be renewing my membership. Definitely DON'T recommend.
