We got a nice finish on my sons bike but it marked easily. The can leaked so bad from the valve half way through we needed to finish the job on the grass Show details
Don't even try it, good luck getting cans to work let alone having a good spray. You'll be fighting to make it work so much you'll end up messing up the spray anyways and you have a 50/50 chance of it never spraying again as soon as you stop for more then a few seconds. Not possible to finish multiple coats before the can stops working despite following all instructions to the T. Paint dries about 5 times longer than advised. Show details

I have prepared a car body for spraying. My preparation has been fine and surface is smooth. Weather for the next 10 days or so is going to be atrocious and will not let me spray without consequences. SO I decided to put a cover of Dulux Metalshield Multipurpose Spray over the primer to protect it as a temporary fix. 12 cans ($200) later, rubbing… Read more
back between coats, I am very disappointed. I'm not after a first class finish for a temporary fix but, it was patchy, bubbled in some areas (no reason that I could tell). It was dry and seemed to chip very easily. Even after rubbing back I could not get the uneven (patchy) look out of it. I don't like bagging products, but after all my prep work, I'm going to have to rub back wait until I can spray it properly.

Dulux metalshield spray paint is terrible – I used Dulux metalshield spray paint in a can to spray 2 of 8.5kg gas bottles. The finish was really bad rough in most places and powdery it seems to dry before it hits the surface. Followed all the instructions on can and it wasn't a hot day. Run hand on suface and comes away with powder on hand and scrached off really easily. Coverage bad took… Read more
whole can for one light coat. After two cans at $15.50 each I need to buy more paint to finish job, definitely won't be buying Dulux again.

Beyond woeful – As a boilermaker, the Dulux Metalshield range is complete garbage. I don't do a huge amount of painting, usually either gal primer or iron oxide, but for the occassional small project I'll usually use the cheapest no-name spray paint I can. They do have their own drawbacks - the paint takes time to harden/ can be a bit fragile. Yet, the Dulux… Read more
range is somehow worse, whilst being more expensive - the etch primer coverage is woeful whilst spraying out like an old asthmatic man, and the Metalshield Multipurpose will give a patchy, awful surface finish. Never had a surface finish problem with no-name paints, and I've used a lot of them. Durability can be a bit ordinary, but goodluck getting a nice finish in the Metalshield range - doesn't flow on the surface well, or cover well. Only reason I've ever used it is because the client wants to colour match for the Dulux range, but in future I'll be advising strongly against - not worth the trouble or price. Not the first time I've used their range, but probably the last.

All spray, minimal colour. Rip off – The amount of cans I had to use to get coverage of bare metal without seeing the original metal colour, absolute joke. This stuff is designed to maximise profit from you, not give a good result. Don't buy Dulux crap. Other cans of industrial metal spray paint from metal shops and even Supercheap auto brand are way better than this spray paint. Dulux should be ashamed. Bunnings should kick Dulux out of its stores.

Good not Great – Good coverage and I found that it matches colorbond well. What really lets this product down is that the can splatters. Even when the nozzle is wiped and an inverted spray is performed. The finish is matt in some places as others have reported and needs to be redone. The can was shaken vigorously for 2 minutes.

Chalky mess – I had some guys put in a colorbond fence and they used this to touch areas, after a few months it went super chalky. They've now gone out of business and I'm left with a chalky mess of a fence thanks to them using this product to touch up various areas of the fence. Show details

Dulux Metalshield epoxy spray – This paint is terrible. Goes on like chalk dust, comes off like chalk dust. Used over 3 cans on the transom of an aluminium boat that had been etch primed and sanded smooth. 2 coats, both felt like dust after drying for two hours and could be wiped off with your hand. Ive used cheap $4 cans from pricebusters that have better quality paint. Ive always used White Knight Rustguard but thought id try Dulux, bad mistake. Show details

Dulux Deception – Recently installed a Colorbond dividing fence. When job completed I acquired from Bunnings 2 cans of Dulux Industrial Metalshield multi purpose spray paint with identical colour as per fence Pale Eucalypt. Two weeks after application the colour faded to an almost white. The fence now appears as though it has been graffitied. The Dulux company… Read more
provided an incoherent and implausible response. Caveat Emptor - Dulux have produced a product that is intended to deceive. I urge consumers to keep away.
