We had this dux heat pump installed on 16 th Sept 2023 . In our previous house we had a solar water heater from Solarhart and it was far superior to this heat pump . No noise , used less power and the water temperature was much more constant. The Dux android app has no control of the heater ( or it appears not to have any control ) and is very basic. Try and set the temp and the heater ignores it , try to set hours of operation ( so the noise doesnt wake everyone late at night) and the heater ignores it . I am all for buying Australian made product but it needs to function properly. Looking back we will def go back to solar hot water

Follow-up  · Follow up . The noise level has not improved . Someone asked what do we consider acceptable noise levels. I think something in the order of 40 decibels during the day is acceptable but at night that sort of noise is very unacceptable when all else is silent. The heater does make unacceptable noise at night and a noticeable noise during the day. The app does control the heaters hours of operation and temperature setting however if the power has been switched off ( say for electrical repairs or installations) the app lost all information and had to be reset . This has happened three or four times. We also have solar installed and run the Alpha Ess solar power app . It shows the heater uses between 600 and 750 watts when functioning - I assume heating during daylight .

Purchased in for $3,800.

We purchased a Dux 300DHA20P heat pump in July of 2024 to replace an existing system. We have waited to see how good it was before leaving a review on it, hopefully this will help others that may be in the market for one, we replaced a overseas Bosch heat pump that threw in the towel. We were well aware at the time of the cheap Chinese models available when we purchased the Dux but we wanted to buy an Australian made system . It wasn't cheap but it should be in the long run, is a great system, you only get what you pay for so we shouldn't have to replace it any time soon and we can get reliable local service if required, the Dux performs very well as we are in an area that experiences quite a lot of frosts and it should outlast any cheap import as it is built for Australian conditions, it also has a boost system that can be controlled by my mobile phone so I don't even have to go outside in the cold to engage it. We are a family of 4 adults with a 5 year old as well and our washing machine washes with hot water, this Dux system works beautifully and we have never been without hot water. We highly recommend Dux hot water systems.

Purchased in for $3,000.

New model teething issues/running out of hot water but now resolved... mostly by us – We had a lot of issues with this system initially. We bought the biggest size (4 adult household) and we were running out of hot water. (New model, not much support from manufacturer due to lack of experience with model) We called installer who called his rep. Rep came over a couple of times. Rep got us on the system's app which was a bit of a waste of effort. Even that didn't go smoothly. Every issue to get access to information on what the system was doing (minimal info for the effort) they tried to push back on us ... our internet isn't strong enough, need a booster JUST for the hot water system (wrong) our phones were problematic (!) ... that's what you get when IT support = 'the girls in the office'. No one at the manufacturers knew the system well enough nor how to troubleshoot. Eventually we (customers) figured out it was just a random space in login info that was the culprit to the app issue. Very low quality software app.

In order not to run out of hot water in winter, the system needs to be overriden to increase the temp it heats to (particularly in winter months) in order for the Max size to service 4 adults. Just 2 degrees will probably do it. This is another thing we were told was not possible initially. Lots of back and forth, and mainly trial and error by us (and the 4th person missing out on a warm shower in winter several times)! By the second month post installation, it's been working well. We are now 6 months in and happy with the purchase. Unless they haven't learnt from our frustrating first 2 months of teething problems with their new air pump hot water system you should have no issues. If they haven't taken on board these issues by now, be prepared for problems in the 1st 2 months. Solutions are here if you need them.
