Dynabreeze 75cm Industrial Wall Fan

Worked well..... for a while - avoid it – Purchased this fan from Bunnings after my previous 'industrial fan' motor went out with a bang. Cost me around $300, so it wasn't exactly the cheapest fan. It had good performance initially apart from an annoying rattle. I use this fan for my home workshop/shed. The oscillating feature was something that was important to me, but disappointed to discover that unlike most osciallating fans, it doesn't have a gearbox.
So you haven't got the convenience of just pulling/pushing a switch to swap from static to oscillating. Instead there is a cam wheel that constantly spins on the under side of the motor. If you want the fan to oscillate, you have to remove the screw and move the lever that is attached to the fan motor from the centre of the cam to the outer edge of the cam to get the fan to oscillate. And of course the opposite to return to static operation. Fairly crude and inconvenient.
After maybe just 15-20 hours of use (over a couple of years), I noticed the flow of the fan had reduced significantly and it took some time to get up to speed. The motor was also getting noticeably hot, which isn't normal for a fan motor. At that point I knew failure was inevitable.
Continued to use it, because it's hot in the shed during summer months, and I didn't have another backup fan. The fan continued to lose more speed. Yesterday it decided to power down completely, like I had switched it off, and that was it. Fan is dead.
Last 'industrial fan' I purchased lasted about the same. Can't remember the brand of that one, but the motor literally went with a 'bang' and tripped the shed circuit breaker.
I'm not bothering with anymore of these generic branded 'industrial fans', they are rubbish. I've had fan motors run almost 24/7 in summer months for many years. Got a couple of smaller 'Rok' branded fans for the house, they run almost continously during the summer months. Had them now for over 5 years without an issue. The plastics or even gearbox might fail on some of the fans I've owned, but the motors still are going strong. Fan motors aren't high performance motors for their size, they are designed to run lazy, so they shouldn't fail in just 15-20 hours of useage.
It would still be within it's 3 year warranty period, but I don't have the receipt anymore. Didn't expect I'd need it, I figure the manufacturer works on that theory. Probably wouldn't want another one anyway only to have it fail as well.
Purchased at Bunnings Warehouse for $300.
Happy to start with , disappointed in the end – Bought two Dynabreeze wall fans from Bunnings lasted 16 months both motors burnt out. They were good to start with but both stopped working within a month of each other. Unlucky or below average product ? Arlec fans might be the go.
Purchased in at Bunnings Warehouse for $207.
Brilliant! This fan is amazing – We have now bought four units of the dynabreeze floor fan. I couldn't be happier as it is everything a fan should be . Effective . Powerful. Silent. Stylish. Metal (never buy plastic!). Unbelievably good. We did buy the large oscillating floor fan , but not a big fan(no pun intended). It would be okay in factories and warehouses, but noise is a factor with this irritating drone sound. It is super powerful but unsuitable for small to medium spaces.
Fan grill rusted after several months – I purchased this wall fan over a year ago to cool my workshop down in the hot summer months. The dynabreeze 75cm wall fan is very strong and works well. I like the way this fan is mounted to the wall with its strong mounting bracket. This keeps the fan safe and out of the way. After several months of use the fan blade protector grill started to rust. My workshop is very dry and is also inland from the coast. I am disappointed the grill could rust so fast.
Only the grill has rusted on this product. The rest of the unit is also made out of steel but is in perfect condition.
I would not recommend this fan to anyone who lives on the coast due to the grill that is prone to rust. The rust can separate from the cage while in use and become a serious safety hazard to people's eyes. Inexpensive and reliable The fan protector grill started to rust after several months
