Pretty good – I've had this fan 8 or 9 years in my bedroom. The good is clean fresh air. I don't have a problem with the sound however I'm used to it and don't find it loud. I appreciate others reviewer's have complained about noise at higher levels. Admittedly it's close enough to me to not require it on super fast. I also have a split system ac but only turn it on on the hottest nights probably 10 times over the last summer. i have the fan on everyday even in winter on low just to allow the soothing airflow over me while I sleep. It's the perfect height. Sits on the floor next to my bed. I'm disappointed this style of fan is no longer available with the tall pedestal and the wide fan area. It will be a sad day when mine finally stops working but I imagine it's going to last a decade. The new dyson towers don't really have the height I'm after for my bedroom. The new ones would have half the airflow pointed at the base of my bed. The bad. The rotation system broke almost immediately after the warranty period ended. Now mine is only fixed in one direction which I don't mind but it was a lot of money to pay for a fan with a simple mechanical failure. Overall it's been great.

Purchased in at The Good Guys for $550.

It's now 3 years later and I think an update is warranted. Still works as well as the first day I got it, other than the oscillating issue. A 12 year old fan. Im updating my review to a 5 star due to the longevity and design qualities of the product. Why don't they make tall fans like this any more.

Hated it! – Found it so useless I took it back! The store kindly gave me a full refund! I am in a small caravan and found even with the fan right next to me I was still uncomfortably hot. Not enough bang for my buck! I purchased another brand pedestal fan for a fraction of the price of the Dyson and enjoy the cool breeze it produces. lightweight, liked the design failed to meet expectation, remote was not user friendly, overpriced

Just what I wanted – I bought this Dyson pedestal fan to be able to use it safely while our grandchildren are around. ( the 7 year old stuck his head right through the loop last weekend ! ) I can use it with confidence around the children, and it fascinates the adults, who try to discover how it works. The faster it goes the louder it gets - obviously, but we are able to converse with the fan at a comfortable speed to keep air moving. So easy to clean - a quick wipe of the dirt 'trails' around the loop, and it is spotless. I am a severe asthmatic, and one hot night, I took it into my bedroom. I woke with a bad asthma attack. I can only conclude that the fan sucked dust up from the carpet, and the dust was then in the air I breathed. Didn't try that again !! Lives up to its advertisements, and my expectations.

Answer to tinnitus (ringing in the ears) – My husband has tinnitus, a continual ringing, whistling noise in the ears. It is made worse with particular noises, amongst other things, fans. He either puts up with it or moves the fan further away. In the workshop he had been buying bigger fans to get the airflow from a distance and having to increase the speed (and noise) to get comfortable but then complains "My ears are screaming".

It took a long time to convince him to try the Dyson but once he did we were able to remove one of the major triggers to his tinnitus. He can now work with the fan on a low setting right beside him. His view and reach is hardly interrupted as he can see & reach through the loop if needed. The tower arrangement is an ideal height when he is standing (and for me exercising), or sitting, gently streaming across him rather than in front.

He can hear the TV and the phone. Something he couldn't do with his industrial fans. As for cost - we spent this much on wall mounted industrial fans. We bought a table top for the grand-toddlers after we saw the youngest put her fingers through the grill to stand up and pulled the industrial fan over onto herself. She now plays on the floor with the Dyson on low. I never did understand why the advertising emphasised "no buffeting" when safety & noise seemed more appealing. Very easy to assemble, quiet, easy to adjust in all directions Lead is short. Remote small & fiddly
