Loud, heavy and painful
This is the first and last Dyson product for me, as I am not happy with it at all. There are just too many cons:
1. Have to use it on the lowest setting most of the time to ensure the battery lasts 20-30min.
2. On medium power setting it emits a very unpleasant, very loud whistling sound which hurts my ears. Kind of like a hair dryer clocked to ultra-turbo.
3. The trigger design is a flawed gimmick concept that should be done away with. Why should I have to keep pulling the trigger continuously while vacuuming? Who's bright idea was that? W...hy is there no on/off switch? 4. The overall design of the handle needs to be changed. The motor is too heavy, and after vacuuming for a few minutes my muscles start aching. There is also a plastic divider under the trigger which skins my finger as I'm pushing and pulling the vacuum, pulling the trigger and rotating this stupid loud heavy thing.

Doesn't do what it says on the box
Purchased the V10 Animal less than a year ago. Use it on vinyl and carpet and it has good suction. However, bought it because I have long hair and 3 cats and it states that it copes with that with no problem at all. Copes my ****. The small roller has become tangled with hair to such a degree that I can't untangle it and it is now completely useless. I have to keep untangling the larger roller every now and then using scissors to cut the hair away. When I empty it, it's not a case of sliding the dust into the bin - I have to use my hand t...o pull the dust and hair into the bin as it all gets caught inside. Unclipping the stick is very fiddly and it's a lot noisier than I thought it would be. The battery only seems to last about 20-30 minutes and with a 4 bed semi over 2 stories, this has become very annoying. 2 hours charging time for 30 minutes use doesn't stack up. When using it without the stick, it is quite heavy. I like the freedom that a cordless vacuum gives, but there are others out there that state they have anti-wrap technology and don't cost as much, so shop around, people, and don't be taken in by Dyson's reputation as I was. I've spent an awful lot of money for something that doesn't deliver. If I could afford it, I'd recycle it and buy another brand.

Much better than I expected
I have found the Dyson to be superior to other stick vacuums. It set the standard others followed. It is lightweight and therefore much easier to get out, use, and put away than my ducted vacuum. The ducted vacuum worked very well and has performed well for years - but the ease and effectiveness of the Dyson has just about made my ducted vacuum obsolete. I have had no issue with battery or suction. Except when the waste container filled up, or the stick tube became clogged. Solution? Empty the waste often - just like you do with mowers.... as for the blockage - that was not so obvious to find. But I did, it was easy to fix and the suction became great again. Worth the money in my opinion.

Dyson Animal 10
I have found that there is Not much Battery life , No I would not spend that much on a Stick Vac anymore . I would only buy a cheaper Stick but there is no match for the Electric Vaccume. They have much better suction also last much longer.

Worst Vacuum Ever Purchased
We purchased the V10 Animal less than a year ago. The battery quickly lost power and has a maximum runtime of 5 minutes. A complete waste of money and much cheaper vacuums have performed better at a fraction of the cost.

Not worth the $$
Have you ever heard of having to clean the inside of a vacuum-cleaner on a regular basis?!?!
I would not recommend this vacuum-cleaner. I am only writing this review now, because it is really starting to get me angry that I can't vacuum when I want to!!
Even though it is handy that you can go from hard flooring to carpet and it does vacuum up doghair ( you do have to put it on MAX though) it features are far from satisfactory. the vacuum just stops all of a sudden saying I need to clean its filter, so than I don't have a vacuum-cleaner for the...

Works great but causing callus on finger
I love dyson products and this is my 4th cordless vacuum! It works amazing however the only issue I have is with holding the power source the entire time I’m vacuuming! I have a large callus on my medial index finger! I wish they would have an on/off button option bc it’s killing my fingers!

Not durable on any level
In the two year three months that I’ve used this vacuum I’ve had numerous issues. The battery died within the first year, which was replaced for free. Since then I count three different places where the vacuum has broken (when emptying, the part that holds dirt comes completely off, I had to apply tape to hold the roller in place on the cleaning attachment, and the red button that attaches the shaft to the base broke so every time I detach to empty I have to be careful not to lose the spring so I can carefully put it back together again). After...all this, the red trigger you push to make it run has depressed into the vacuum quite a bit. I now have to press the button as hard as I can to get it going, just to have it stall, until I regrip and press as hard as I can again- not ideal for my arthritic hands. I may throw this $700 vacuum in the trash.

Shocking machine, high maintenace, constant blockages.
I have had this Dyson for a year now, and like the previous reviewer, not worth the money. I have a small house and use it once a week, for quite light cleaning (no pets) Every second week I experience the blockage light. I clean the machine, check the filter, pull it apart, which takes ages. I'm spending time cleaning the Dyson and not my house! Lucky I kept my old Hoover otherwise I'd be stuck...Way too much maintenance and like the previous reviewers, struggles to pick up a grain of rice off my kitchen foor..Do not recommend, too high maintenace....

Powerful, high valumn, high battery capacity
Overall, it is good to use. It is powerful, high valumn, high battery capacity. It would be more easier to use if it could be in lighter weight. And the price is also a bit high.

Weak plastic components
I purchased this 20 months or so ago and use it as a complementary vacuum to a power Dyson animal dc39 that is roughly 8 years old and hasn’t missed a beat. The battery was the first to go after about 12 months so we stopped using for 6 months or so, until I bought replacement, then the trigger in the body part broke and is not able to be repaired, so while calling Dyson to find out what my options were, I found out it was still covered under the 2 year warranty ( I though I only had 12 months) and also the battery, which was also replaced unde...r warranty. Two weeks after it was going again a plastic component of the barrel broke and are now waiting for a the replacement part to be sent also covered under warranty. The warranty dyson have is good as I basically have a brand new machine( hopefully I get more than 12 months use of this one)In this experience I feel the quality of Dyson has reduced considerably from older models, weak plastic components breaking creating problems that can’t be fixed and require replacement Is disappointing.

more powerful and longer lasting battery
This is my second Dyson stick vacuums over the years. I bought this one to replace the V7, so in this review I'll compare the v10 to that. First off it's more powerful and has a longer lasting battery, but it's a lot heavier than the older machines. There's a turbo button at the end if you want super super suction, but of course this makes the battery drain faster. Generally the normal mode is enough to get things clean, and enough to quickly vacuum most of my house
As usual it came with a box of separate attachments. I use the felt roller one ...

Great little Gadget
It’s a great vacuum cleaner for home and cars.
Surprisingly amazing amount of suction.
There only issue with the low battery life on max power other than that it’s a great hardworking asset for cleaning need
Purchased in October 2019 at Dyson for $400.00.
pretty decent but expensive
Bought the animal without doing much reserach and then found out that the fluffy head that comes with the absolute is a game changer. Impossible to track a fluffy head down from dyson or any retailer, had to fish one up out of gumtree. Would be nice if the batteries were removable (dyson have just changed this for the new extra big v11), 7 minutes of runtime on max still arent very good numbers
This cordless vacuum is amazing! Great on both carpeted and tiled floors and super easy to empty! It mounts on your wall or in a cupboard so it is nearly stored when not in use!

Questions & Answers
My v10 animal only works when my hand is over the nossel.
I've cleaned the filter, there is no blockage, put a new battery, still won't work. 3 blue lites not flashing.
You might want to try buying another 2 filters. If the filter is even slightly damp before use, it will probably have been destroyed because the dust will muddy up inside it.
2 is a good idea for this sub par product so you dont risk using one that might be even borderline damp.

Took the bin off to clean ,now cant reconnect to the motor . Any help?
I have issues with our Dyson V10 Animal. Not only does it clog easily but it won't vacuum up simple things like granola or popcorn or spilt kitty litter. It spits it out the back and all over the floor. The granola ended up broken up into smaller pieces and spread all over the floor so I used the dustpan and brush to clean it up. $1,000 AU is a lot of money to pay for a vacuum cleaner that won't suck up normal household spills. When the salesperson demonstrated it in the store before we purchased it I noticed that a larger piece of dirt spat out of the back of the head but thought it was just a one off. Unfortunately it is a regular occurrence at home. I am very disappointed with it and won't buy another one. Is there a reason why it does that or as other people have commented is it just a very fussy and doesn't like regular work?
