Expensive junk! – I bought this two years ago after having issues with my other Dyson DC 39 (was sick of unscrewing filter near bottom of vaccum every time I used it) I only have two bedrooms, loungeroom and a hallway to vacuum. I found it to be okay whilst on max setting, but if I use that feature, I only get the hallway done, at best. I've already had to replace… Read more
the battery once. I've had issues with the cannister not coming off, despite clicking the red button twice. I have to run a butter knife around the rim just to get the dirt and dust out. It seems to get jammed all the time. And if you vaccum on normal mode, it won't even pick up anything bigger than a stray fingernail. It starts pulsing throughout vacuuming every time I use it, which means something is stuck, hence the stray fingernail comment. Literally found it to be a fingernail. I'd understand if it were a piece of paper bigger than my thumb, but this is just ridiculous. It can't even pick up strands of hair without it pulsing, or they will just wrap around the motorhead, stopping the motorhead from even spinning. I have decided to move away from Dyson, and will be purchasing a Miele instead. For the two Dyson's I have owned, I've spent approximately $1,300, only to be completely underwhelmed by them. Lesson learnt!
Buyers remorse - and then some – I bought this vacuum about 5 years ago and have been using it less and less as the years roll by. I replaced the battery about 2 years ago, and now it’s failing again. I’m about to give the unit away on Marketplace as it’s obsolete and there’s a ton of them trying to be sold for peanuts. Pros: It is lightweight. The swivel head works well. The… Read more
boost mode is good - with a well charged battery. The parts click together well with proper clips.
Cons: It was expensive to buy - and they still are. Having to alway have the trigger held on is tiring and annoying. It often pushes clumps of pet hair and dust in front of it. I have to lift the unit into the air and place it on the offending grime. Blockages are common as there is a sharp corner in the canister head. Cleaning the canister of rubbish happens a lot and it messy and time consuming. I have to use a paddle pop that I carry with me, to prise the hair and dust out. Removing the canister from the unit is possible but very fiddly to reattach to the unit. I had to drill into my wall to mount it.
Sadly, some of the cons with this unit still persist today - like having to always hold the trigger.
I’m about to take advantage of the Black Friday sales and get a Shark cordlesss Stratos Pet Pro.
Great little vacuum cleaner – Used as secondary Vac cleaner used practically every day, so easy to use, does a great job 9 years old and still going strong have replaced battery twice, 4 filters and one brush. Used on hard floors and carpet, only criticism dust bin cold be larger. Show details · 1

Best Buy ever! – I use my Dyson on all floor types from wooden floors to tiles and to clean those hard to reach places like your ceiling and ceiling fans! It comes with some fantastic attachments to make chore time easier and more efficient! It’s also fantastic for picking up that annoying cat hair from all your soft furnishings! Show details · 1

Customwr service was great. Good for small apartments but battery life and bin not big enough for anything bigger – Don't have pets. Purchased this in Aug 2017 and it went really well. We were in a small unit at the time so I didn't need a long battery life or a big vacuum bin. I was very good with cleaning up the hair from the head of the vacuum and had some problems with the motorised head. Rang dyson who were great and hassle-free to deal with (rare these… Read more · 1
days), and they sent me out a new head in the mail. Then in Feb 2021, it died. It was either a battery or a charge issue but I moved onto another vacuum as I needed more vacuum bin capacity and also much longer battery life. Would recommend for 1bedrm apartments or if you don't mind charging and emptying often
Barrel closure clip – I have owned my V6 since new, great unit and does an even better job. The only issue I have is that the little plastic clip that closes the bottom of the barrel has broken off. As I am now on a disability pension, I am not able to afford a new barrel, I have had to attach Velcro on the side of the barrel and on the flap, so that I can close it. Show details
Much better than expected! – Very happy with my Dyson found at a council clean up! I paid 40$ for a new replacment battery (double working time) and it works perfectly. I use it every day on carpet and wooden floor boards. Show details

Okay, but not the quality I expected for Dyson – Not too bad, does and okay job on tiles but not great on mats with pet hair. Battery life is poor, have had to buy a new battery each year and that's with only using it for about 1/2 hour per week on low setting. I use a Robot vac for my daily vacuuming instead. Show details
disappointing – Bought this a few years ago as I previously owned a great Barrell Dyson. However instantly realised suction was very bad on the V6 and it requires unblocking constantly as it does not like small paper wrappers etc. It does pick up some dust and hair well which is evident as i have to regularly clear it out of the brushes and is lightweight and… Read more
easy to manoeuvre but that's about it. Fails to pick up much else leaving my floors still looking unvacuumed. Also i have to use it with the booster power on always (which reduces run time a lot, 10 minutes) otherwise i may as well use a broom instead.
Terrible product – I will never recommend Dyson to anyone. This product is a waste of money. And after sales Customer Service... Zero rating. Product worked for approx 6 months then one issue after another, I gave up on it over a year ago. Battery packed it in after maybe 5 times of using it. When I contacted Dyson, they said the battery isn't part of the warranty… Read more
(buyer beware), then once I got a new battery, after a few months it started playing up during usage, switching off and on while trying to vacuum, and Max Power doesn't work. Never again will I buy a Dyson. It also had to be emptied every 5 minutes, which was a task in itself. Had to stick a knife in it to clear it out properly. Does not make life easier at all, quite the opposite.
Thank you for your review, this is certainly concerning as… Read more

Just works perfect!! – We have used it on tiles and wooden surfaces. It does a fantastic job. Have been using it since last 3 years without any issues. Would love to upgrade and try a V8 or V10. Show details
Perfect for me – I had a long history of using chord vacuum cleaner. One of the problems I have is the chord. I always get tripped over and have to bend a lot to do the cleaning. So this product perfectly solve this two problems. Occasionally I complain about the short battery life but given that I’m not a huge fan of cleaning. I’m more than happy for the excuse… Read more
that the product gave me to have a bit rest. Generally speaking it does what it says. I got it on special so it’s just perfect for me.
Short life between charging – I have had the V6 Animal (rechargeable) stick vacuum cleaner 4 years, from new. No animals. Only two adults in the house; carpet in bedrooms and lounge, and tiles in Kitchen. Otherwise bamboo flooring. Only used indoors. After recharging the motor runs for about 2-4 minutes then stops. This situation is repeated each time I attempt to use the appliance Is it defunct? Or can it be repaired? Regards Jan Hocking WA 6065 Show details · 1

a real dud – I use this vacuum mostly on carpet. I have a Dyson V7 in another house which never has a problem. I think there are intrinsic faults in this model. VERY sensitive if stuff gets held up near the nozzle. has to be cleaned out thoroughly with a stick. If anything is left the motor just keeps on surging - the slightest thing renders is unusable. … Read more
To think I bought this for convenience! When I took it back to the shop, the staff there told me it happens to V6s all the time, including their own! very disappointed - I thought all Dysons if not equal, at least would perform adequately. My cleaners refuse to use it, preferring to bring their own in. pity. i am looking a buying a new machine and tossing up whether to even bother looking at Dyson.

Not happy with this product – When I got my Dyson I was so happy, but that didn't last long, the suction on this vacuum is terrible, it flicks the debris into the suction hose more than it actually sucks. The problem with it pulsating on and off is a nightmare, I seem to have to stop vacuuming everytime I use it to clean it out to stop this, and to find its hardly anything… Read more

Had high hopes – Had high hopes for this machine that have been well and truly dashed! I spend more time clearing stuff out of where the tube meets the barrel than the actual vacuuming. Am lucky if I can have 5 mins of uninterrupted vacuuming time before the machine starts that on/off noise and I have to stop and clear it out using a knife or a bit of wire. A real pity as I will only buy a wand style and I wanted this one to work well. Shame really. Show details

So temperamental & more trouble than its worth! – I do love the convenience of the V6 and suction is good..when it works! To be honest, i spend more time troubleshooting and cleanjng every crevice from top to bottom every week than i get vacuuming time! Its just not worth it! One little bit of fluff or hair in any place and it keeps cutting out every 2secs. It's so temperamental!! The battery… Read more
only gives 20mins so can't use it in my car as it goes flat before i can finish the job. Heaven forbid you pick up some read dirt like gravel in the car mats and it won't work again. Its just so unreliable! Looking at buying another brand or trying the V10 but very reluctant at this stage to try another dyson due to high maintenance. I just want to vacuum my home without all the drama & stress in cleaning every little piece every single time i use it! It shouldn't be like that..not for the price! I've had cheaper ones (not as good quality) that do the job without having to clean all the parts everytime. Come on Dyson...a decent vac should only need the barrell emptied, or strings of hair removed from the turbo brush...not require a full hockout & service to operate efficiently! For $800...it should clean itself!
Never again! – I spent $850 only from divorce settlement as I thought I would buy one that would last a long time for me and my children. 2 years later and the battery is flat a the clip that closes the housing has broken. Not only that but the compartments don't suck up anything that is close to a wall or a straight - they all have holes in the sides and it… Read more

Not happy with battery life – We purchased 2 of the V6 Dyson animals in December 3 years ago. We use them on tiled floors and carpet. batteries in the caravan and all of them have lasted for 10 years plus. Why would expensive vacuum cleaner lithium batteries only last 3 years. The replacement batteries from Dyson have a 2 year warranty and yet the knock offs on ebay come with 5 years and are less than half the price. I know what I'll be buying. NOT HAPPY DYSON. Tell me why I should continue to support you.
Keep having to turn turbo on or it cuts out – Mainly timber floors and 2 rugs. Performs well, but cuts out constantly and have to put on turbo. I clean it regularly, also sounds like dirt or something trapped in motor area when I shake it. Show details

The most amazing vacuum cleaner ever! – I have Alaskan Malamutes who shed almost all year around, I had tried other cleaners but nothing beats the Dyson V6 animal, it is an amazing piece of machinery, I absolutely love it. While the battery doesnt last as long as I would like it does the job I need it to do on both my hard boards and carpets. I totally recommend a Dyson animal for anyone that has pets. Show details
The best vacuum – Super fast charge. Last about thirty minutes of life on low settings. And at the most 10 minutes on high. Big barrel. Truely amazing Dyson. Great for picking up animal hair. Show details
Very disappointing – Tiles and carpet. Suction is ok on tiles, nothing wonderful on carpet, and the charge only lasts 15- 20 mins, not long enough to complete a 4 bedroom house, always having to put it back on charge. To make it worse the battery has now completely died after just over 2 yrs, and it’s $79 to get a replacement, unless I buy a compatible one, $35 but… Read more
not sure if they are ok. Luckily we have an old vacuum from KMart cost $75 6 years ago, it isn’t as easy to manoeuvre as the stick vacuum, but much stronger suction, so we shall use that for now.

save your money – ABSOLUTE RUBBISH, would give it no stars if possible. Bought 2 slightly different models in 2017. Batteries lasted till the warranties expired. Purchased new batteries, both shot again. Major operation to clean the bloody things. After emptying when turned on next time great puff of dust in the face. Total waste of $1000. Never buy a Dyson anything again Show details
Good for 12 months then not – This machine was used on both tile and carpet. It is now 3 years old and needs to be replaced. It cuts out, blocks easily, takes ages to recharge and suction is fairly low. The heads can be hard to change and it can be hard to refit the barrel after emptying. It has not had to work hard as its a small house that is only needs cleaning weekly. Tile floors are mainly swept with broom. Would not buy another. Show details

Great but keep the tape handy to hold it together – We loved our Dyson V6 animal and use it all the time BUT, we had to use electrical tape to hold the machine together because the clip that clips the arm on fell off, the plastic bit under the trigger broke off (doesn’t affect function but was slicing our fingers so gaffa taped that too) and now the barrel base (which pops open to release the dust… Read more
into the bin) will not close properly either. Please note we are very gentle when handling our possessions (especially when they cost as much as this one!) and yet the plastic components seem to lose their integrity quite rapidly. Great vacuum but Dyson needs to work on these design flaws! This has lasted roughly 6-8years. I am disappointed, I really expected a product like this to last longer than that given the price. Please feel free to send me a new cordless vacuum Dyson and I will test it out for you over the next 8 years! Simply can’t afford another one!

Expected more...but just another cheap piece of plastic – 6 months ago I would have recommended this product. I purchased the Dyson V6 animal in March 2016 to replace another stick brand. This far exceeded the suction capabilities of my other model. But at over 4 times the cost you would expect it. In the past 6 months I've had issues with the battery. I would remove the VC from the re-charger and it… Read more
would only go for a few seconds. I found I had to put it back in the re-charger then remove it again (no recharge required), then it would be fine. Last weekend I went to use it and found it had a slight wobble. Next thing I knew, the top part of the wand (grey plastic part at the top) snapped from the rest of the wand. I'm told I can get this replaced as well as the battery for around $135. But why would you? That's a lot to spend after 4 years. What will go wrong next? So keep this in mind when you told it will last for ages. 4 years - $150 per year. It's going to be hard to not have a stick vacuum for the quick clean ups but at least there are a few more brands on the market.
Poor customer service and overpriced machine – Bought this in 2016 and since then I've had to replace the wand (The tube thing) the motor, the machine head (the thing with the rotors for carpets) and buy a spare filter. Now the battery's dead and I'll need another one. So in four years - FOUR YEARS! - that's basically an entirely new vacuum in four years. And I made that point, politely, to… Read more

Great product and support with battery warranty – Been very pleased with v6 dyson stick vacuum but after 18months the battery has started to die. Runs for only 15s on high after being charged all night. Contacted Dyson (I still had purchase receipt). They said batteries were generally regarded as consumables but as it was only 18months old and used primarily on hard floor on low setting they are sending me a replacement battery. I would buy another Dyson product with this great support. Show details
Very fiddly to empty, short overall battery life – The vacuum performs well. The problem is for the $550 NZ it cost, the battery needed replacing after 2 1/2 years, another $100. Also, emptying it is not quick and easy. And of course, it's a small dirt holder, so emptying it needs to be done often. In doing my research on this model, I have found many many unhappy consumers amongst my friends. Show details

I forgot to use my barrel Bissell!!! – Pro: Easy to use and I completely forgot the barrel vacuum cleaner. Easy to steers too. Con: battery life is so damn short 20 minutes on normal mode and 6 minutes when on max mode isn’t enough for thoroughly cleaning. Show details
Great product, convenient to use – Bought three months ago from target. Convenient and easy to use. Little but loud when used in max. Suction is way better. Only downside is the battery 20 mins normal, and if i use mixed with the max it stays for 10-12 min Show details
