Not Happy Dyson with V6 Animals – Having payed top Dollar the battery lasted 11 month I was told to recharge battery after 5 mins then the head wore out after a sort time the canister seal let dust out these as things that should not happen at this price range I then got a second one better container quick release the only good thing about it, thinking I was just unlucky and the… Read more

head again wore out after a short time I am using it as long as I can to justify the high cost of these 2 junk vacs I will go back to Hoover upright corded again old school used on tiles and thick carpet looked after. Even I got under warranty replacement parts apart from the Battery still going I priced one when I got the replacement and the cost was $140. At the moment I can get a Hover upright corded for $149.

Needs a lot of maintenance and highly inconvenient – I used this vacuum on hardwood floors with an additional soft foam roller head from Dyson. Both the multi floor tool and soft floor head damaged my floors and have made it impossible to get my bond back. The motorheads get constantly tangled with dog hair AND the wheels on the motor head gets stuck which then leads to scraping on the floor. It… Read more

was only good for the first year before it completely declined. Customer service rep tried to tell me to buy a more expensive model of dyson

I have already spoken with Dyson customer service and all they do is over the phone trouble shooting, tutorial videos on cleaning etc.

Absolutely no point in buying an animal hair vacuum that scratches floors and needs constant parts replaced and hair pulled out. I’d rather spend twice as much on any other brand than Dyson again

Excellent bang for buck – Upgraded to the V6 from an older DC35 model. I got it on special from BigW for $349, which is/was a great price at the time. This is a worthwhile upgrade, with far superior powered head that does a much better job of picking up small and larger debris especially on hard-floors. Pros: - Reasonable batter life. Enough to get around the house in one… Read more

go on standard mode. - Enough suction to pick up most things of both carpet and hard floor. For most users it should be sufficient - Excellent price (when on sale) - Significantly improved powered head design which gets clogged less by hair than previous smaller design.

Cons: - Emptying is a bit of pain compared to the newer V8-11 models - Does require regular cleaning to remove dust build up etc, especially in the motorised head - No battery meter - Doesn't last that long on high powered mode

Overall, if you want a Dyson but can't afford the latest models, the V6 animal extra is a great budget option when it goes on sale. I wouldn't recommend it at RRP, but if you can pick it up for ~$300 you probably won't find much better value.

Appalling customer service – After a few months of use, my V6 animal cleaner stopped working. It works great until it doesn't. Red flashing lights indicating a new charger was needed and the website says that you need to call somebody and speak to them in person. It is absolutely impossible to reach a person. I have wasted an entire day, night and another day. Hours and hours… Read more

of being on hold only to eventually be put through to an automated message to leave information for a feedback. I have not received a callback. I have severe allergies which was the reason behind purchasing such a supposed quality machine. Now I seem to have to wait indefinitely to speak to a person to even get a part before I can fix this to clean my apartment. I would not go to the trouble of buying from Dyson again. If something goes wrong I have no hope of appropriate customer service or even speaking to a person. I am beginning to think I will never get to speak to a person or get my part. This is despicable.

Worth the money – I had been researching different stick vacuums to purchase because lugging around our big Kmart vacuum started to get annoying and made me not want to do the vacuuming anymore. I wanted a stick vacuum for daily use since they're compact and easy to use. I originally wasn't going to buy a Dyson due to the high price of them, but one day when I… Read more ·  1

went to Big W and saw them at the front for $349 I decided to take the plunge.

So far, this vacuum has more than proved it's place in my home. Not only can I use it for vacuuming the floor, I've used it to clean the dust out of my flyscreens, used it to vacuum up spilled gravy and stock powder from the stove top, vacuumed that annoying skinny gap between the shower screen and the vanity, and used it to dust my Venetian blinds.

My one and only complaint is how long the battery lasts. I feel like I don't use it for that long but before I know it, the battery has died. There is an option to use the normal mode and maximum suction mode and sometimes I accidentally leave it on maximum, so that might be the issue, but my house is small enough that if I use it on normal mode I'm able to finish every room before the battery dies.

All in all, I think this is a great addition to my home and I don't dread the task of vacuuming anymore. Well worth the money.

Can’t live without it. Best vacuum I have ever had n I have tried plenty. It collects dog hair brilliantly – Carpet, polished boards and laminate flooring. Great on every floor it is amazing how much it sucks up n fills up the cylinder which contains a lot of dirt n dog hair. Show details

Works well battery life could be better – Works well on tiles and carpet. Rubbish is hard to empty and battery is poor on max power. Portability is great and works well on stairs and hard to reach spaces. Versatile product- I understand newer models address the emptying issue and better battery power. Show details

Battery life is very poor – We have had multiple DC models, and have had the V6 for 2 years. The battery life on all of these is great for the first 6 months then terrible. You would think that modern batteries would last a lot longer. Dyson seem to think they are a consumable on a $500+ piece of technology. Other providers will warrant their batteries for up to 5 years. Won't be buying another Dyson. Show details

Disappointed – Initially I was like wow it picks up the lightest of dust. But the fact the battery life is so short is very disappointing. It take a long time to charge again. It also only holds a small amount. And I had trouble with it switching on and off. Found online others had same issue caused by the battery being lose. Worst part was Dyson wanted to… Read more

Great vac but few faults – Had this vac for 7years, have been very good to it so battery is still great. Unfortunately some attachments kept falling out so had to tape them and the rubbish container opens randomly so all falls all over the floor. I think they changed it in the new model. For the convenience of the cordless vac that sucks well I will buy the new version soon.  Show details

Garbage – Bought this vacuum after our last unit (Dyson V6 Absolute) failed after 12 months. Thinking I would give Dyson products another chance, the vacuum performs just like the last one we purchased. Continually surging, not sucking debris but pushing it around. The surging thing really is annoying, you can clean it continually and it will block up and surge. A gimmick, so much for no loss of suction. Show details

Now I enjoy cleaning the floor!! – I hated vacuum cleaners, heavy bulky things that would have to be dragged from room to room. What I love most about my Dyson is how powerful and yet how light it is. I find myself vacuuming every time I get a spare few minutes. It's so quick, and because I use the supplied wall mount it's never been easier to keep my vacuum tidy and out of the way. I love it!! Show details

Good stuff and easy to use – Laminate floor we have cuz of children, the machine works well for carpet but had to change to laminate floor, a bit worry at the beginning of floor change, however it really easy to use and clean floor properly. Only one disadvantage which is only can use about 20 mins then has to charge. Otherwise, super good. Show details

Everyone should have one – We use our Dyson on polished boards, vinyl flooring and carpet mats. It has very strong suction, better than any corded machine we've owned, for any surface and picks up an astonishing amount of dust/debris. The battery allows a full house clean, (approx 20mins) on full power, on the one charge and emptying is so easy straight from the dust canister. Couldn't go back to a corded machine after having had the Dyson for the past 3 years. Show details

Won't be purchasing a Dyson again – After just 2 years of having the machine, the battery has died and we cannot use it. I wish I had of listened to the people who warned me not to purchase a Dyson in the first place. Even when it was brand new, the suction was nowhere near as good as I had expected it to be. Sometimes the vacuum would not even pick up small crumbs. Very disappointing when you pay $400 for a vacuum that is now sitting in a cupboard useless! Show details

No wonder the V6 Animal was discontinued – The Dyson V6 Animal vacuum was purchased in October 2018. It was used on vinyl and carpeted floors. By May 2019 it needed a new battery. This was dispatched by Dyson but on using it, the machine failed again. Dyson service centre advised that sometimes the battery will "short out" the motor! Dyson then sent out a main body, a power pack and a … Read more

Good vacuum - has a common Faulty battery which is expensive - costs you $0.50 every use – Pros- vacuum cleaner does the job it is designed for, portable and comfortable to use, Cons- faulty battery design, Dyson don’t tell us unless you call and complain. The battery is a consumable item and not part of their standard warranty as with the machine. First battery stopped working after 3 months which was replaced, then new battery died… Read more

after 14 months which was replaced for free “as goodwill” after making a fuss about it. NOTE: my Dyson battery just stops working, it’s not gradual. Battery costs $85 from Dyson direct.

So if you get your battery just out of warranty and it lasts as long as mine did 14 months, using it 3 times per week 168 uses, at 85 bucks a battery, means every time you pickup the Dyson it just cost you $0.50 or 50 cents.

Lookup battery warranty for Dyson and the information is limited.

Super handy, easy to use – This vacuum is great for small areas or small houses/apartments which is what we have. I find it handy to grab when I need a quick tidy up. It does run out of battery quickly when using the max power mode. I also find the canister is not always easy to empty if it gets very full. These downsides are all outweighed by the convenience of the vacuum as a whole and also how much dirt and dust it picks up! Show details

Great vacuum – Got this to replace the old dc35. Great vacuum as usual. It clean up the dog hair much better. the head dont get clogged up with hair as often due to new design. it also feel lighter so that's a plus. only issue i have found so far is the way to open the dust collector can. it's just feel awkward particularly with 1 hand. Show details
