3 Troy  · I love the design of Dyson vacuums. I do find the longevity isn’t great and regular services are needed to keep optimal function.
4 Angus  · Love the design and how easy it is to use. Probably would get 5 stats if the battery lasted longer and the suction power was a little stronger.
5 Betty Hayden  · A full charge goes for a long time. Can vac a station wagon size car on one charge.
2 Louise R.  · Considering how expensive these are, it's really very dissapointing that the 2 that I have had have both failed. I certainly won't be buying another one.
5 Lorraine S.  · excellent vaccum and it picks up pet hair as told by the manufacturer.
1 joh  · Battery does not last and suction is horrific and not happy at all.

Absolutely useless – I purchased the Dyson Animal stick rechargeable vacuum cleaner based on the hype put forward by Dyson. After a year the length of time it would run on a full charge was 5 minutes. Even cheapies run for 12 minutes. All of the advertising propaganda are rubbish. I would say it is the worst rechargeable vacuum cleaner made. Note, it is no longer… Read more

I’m not that impressed with Dyson. We keep buying Dyson cordless vacuums when we need a new one as we get talked into it by sales reps, but I’m due for a new vacuum cause I’m over my Dyson and I won’t be choosing Dyson this time round

a disgrace to the brand – This is the second Dyson vacuum we have purchased. Trusting the brand would maintain its engineering high standard which we enjoyed with the Dyson Big Ball, we ignored some of the reviews where people complained about the V8's performances. We purchased this V8 Animal on 5th June 2021. Not wanting to submit a review when the initial excitement… Read more

could skew our objective review, we waited while continued to use the V8 for over a month. We have 4 indoor cats with 4 litter trays and a few cat stretches, which was the main reason we purchased V8 for. The litter we use is bentonite, and the cat scratches are chip wood/paper, so the amount of animal mess is considerable in our 80 sqm2 house. Side note, I have very long hair, which I would not like to mention had it not being one of the main flaws of V8. We used it on an almost daily basis for a quick vacuum around areas where cats leave a mess, mainly bentonite and wood chips. We empty the vacuum on a daily basis and we are very conscious about the volume of the rubbish it has collected. So it would have nothing to do with the suction power. The duration of the usage is on average 5-8 minutes. So no comments can be made about the battery life yet.

Merits summarised: 1. The machine is lightweight, easy to assemble, and empty 2. The main vacuum head runs smoothly on the carpet.

Major flaws: 1. The vacuum head uses a cylindrical axil (pardon the lay terms), which when rotates to pick up the rubbish (supposedly) stirs up the air around the vacuum head and pushes some of the rubbish away from it. The result is: while sucking up some of the rubbish, some got pushed further away. So the vacuuming experience became an endless chasing of "run-away" rubbish. 2. The cylinder in the vacuum head picks up my long hair and instead of sucking them in (like Dyson Big Ball), it winds my hair round and round until it became a mess. I've uploaded a video about this on Youtube, https://youtu.be/Uq-CktCU_Y0.

Had it not been for the reputation and expectation attached to Dyson, I would not have been so disappointed. For $587, this certainly does not worth it. It would be unreasonable to not to expect a vacuum cleaner to pick up human hair, unless we are not supposed to shed hair around the household. This has never been a problem for the Dyson Big Ball. It would be a basic design rule not to half sucks up, half pushes away the rubbish close to the vacuum head. The design has major fundamental flaws which are so not to be expected from Dyson, or in fact from any vacuum designer. Our confidence with Dyson has been fundamentally compromised.

We would not recommend Dyson V8 to anyone.

Dyson animal is a great vacuum – I love Dyson products and the Dyson animal is a great vacuum. The plus is that it is cordless which means easy to take from room to room. The minus is that the battery doesn't last long and the filters need constantly changing. We have ours serviced and we get new filters so we have spare to hand which I highly recommend so you can just change… Read more

Is this a pipe dream or the real deal – I have been a Dyson owner since the beginning. I currently own the V7 and the V8 cordless. I do have a a DC coed model floating around the house, but it is rarely called upon these days. In the early days, the Dyson has stood the test of time. The batteries were replaced in both models with an aftermarket substitute which is probably the reason… Read more

for the recent poor performance. In total, both vacuum cleaners are around 6 years old. I recently tried the LG cordless compressor as a recommendation from Harvey Norman. I have since returned this. The only fault I could find with the Dyson is the brush at the bottom will need replacing each year. The nylon brush does not wear well at all. Overall, this is a 9/10 for me. It has outlasted all that has gone before it. The engineering is brilliant. Thank you Mr Dyson for a great product.

Excellent Performance – Well this is my first Dyson Vac. Why did I buy it?.. Well having been buying those smaller motorised head dust buster types, I sort of got fed up with the battery operated motorised roller brush gear stripping leaving the rest of the vacuum working but the essential brush operation void. So a pneumaticaly operated brush makes sense to me since… Read more

what really can go wrong with airpower. Second was the lifespan of the units I bought, they dont last much more than 2 years so Im hoping for better with this one. When I got this little unit, I was suprised with just how much more has been thought of including a low footprint well considered packaged box, cardboard wiring retainers being used on the charger when packed over plastic ties and very little plastic. Very sustainable ideas before its even sold. When I used it for the first time, this unit has a lot of suction power and my intention of use was to get the constant dog hairs off the floors , to which this nailed it. The general cleaning outcome for all else is also very effective.

The ergonmics of the unit are pleasing, waste ejection simple and easy. So far no negatives but I can suggest that care is needed when attaching the charger to the mounting bracket, I.E take your time and be softly softly on that one.

The unit is two speed, I found the lower range enough for my carpets and home, the high speed is pretty effective. A good assortment of extra brush types and a smaller one for car use I think.. I was happy with the price I got for it , these are fairly competetive in most appliance retailers.

Good vacuum, but wouldn’t buy another – I have two Belgian Shepherds and two cats and it’s great for picking up the hair. It’s reasonably lightweight, considering I vacuum 2-3 per day. Battery life is short, but I use the vacuum on the turbo setting. I find that the batter has to be replaced every 12mths, which adds, considering the initial outlay of the vacuum. However, my main… Read more ·  1

dislike is the pressure the top part puts on my thumb bone - to the point where I have developed a callous in that area. You cannot adjust the resting position, as you have to constantly hold down the power trigger to operate the vacuum. I’m going to have to visit the GP to see how Incan get rid of the callous. For this reason, I would not purchase another Dyson stick.

*I also have a Dyson barrel vacuum and it has been going strong for years. It’s my knock-about for the garage and my fake grass lol.

Great performance but prone to clogging up by even the smallest particle! – Well designed and built, performs well with various carpet, upholstery and crevice attachments. Superior multiple layer filtration. Two stage power setting. Clogs up several times during every session caused by anything larger than an animal hair: small piece of leaf or feather, necessitating freeing the inlet port with hooked implement (metal… Read more ·  1

skewer with hooked end) that I prepared especially for that task. The total capacity of the dust compartment is quite small and fills up rapidly necessitating frequent stoppages to empty the machine.

A single time charge lasts a long time, and seems within the manufacturers specs. The battery of my Dyson V8 Animal vac has just given up after several years of use and I am pleased to see the limited replacement cost on Amazon of A$50 or less, along with some interesting adapter options for Makita or Ryobi batteries, I'll have to check those out!

The brush carpet attachment is motorized and works extremely well on low and medium pile carpets. It's also fine on smooth floors picking up dust and grit. It is being used several times a week on both surfaces in this very large single storey house.

This and other Dyson products seem unreasonably and artificially expensive compared to the same but lower end of the market products that seems to work equally well. This gigantic price difference has always been a feature of Dyson products.

An amazing product by Dyson, just a longer lasting battery – I have owned this for about 2-3 years now and I love it, the suction is great and it is somewhat quiet, I mostly like the several attachments and accessories that come with this little unit. I do love how the instructions for filter cleaning and emptying the bin are on the side for people who disobey rules (not me at all). We have hard wooden… Read more ·  1

floors that collected a lot of dust in-between the cracks, and VERY thin pile carpet, the bristles are long enough to agitate and sweep the dirt out of the carpet. On on other surfaces (Wall trim, curtains, couches, window tracks etc) it can get through any of the dirt.

I do like the wide head design, but what I don't like is the strips in the middle, I have found big piles of cat fur and dust gets caught behind and sticks to it, then goes through the tube clogging it. I have also found that we have had trouble with the cyclone system, in terms of very fine dirt clogging it, and have had to either strip it down and wash it, or use compressed air. The head and canister part is easy to disassemble to wipe down, and the filters are very easy to gain access to. It does tend to be a little bit awkward to manoeuvre in tight spaces (in a caravan). One thing I have noticed is if I have spilt something (fish flakes) then it tends to start producing that smell and I have to wash the filters and clean out the cyclone and add some essential oils to the post filter to have a better smell.

With the V8 Animal I am a bit upset that it did not come with the fluffy head (I thought all V8's came with one) as I thought it would do very well for our hard flooring.

Overall I think this unit is very useful and I definitely would recommend this for people who need something for quick cleans or surface cleaning.

AMAZING! Honestly, worth the investment. Super good suction with adjustable function, I have carpets and lino, and I adjust accordingly. I've been using my V8 for over 4 years now, and its held up shockingly well considering the amount of times my kids have dropped it and how little we've done to keep it maintained (wife might have cleaned the filter three times). Its not the most powerful vacuum on the market and the bin isnt large, but its a bloody good vacuum that we use everyday and gets the job done. Show details ·  1

Honestly - it's rubbish – After hearing others rave about Dyson products, finally took the plunge and bought this V8 cordless vac. 5 stars quickly deteriorated to 1 star – If I’d written a review anytime in the first month or so it would have been 5 stars all the way. 18 months in and have had to replace entire Vacumn head (under warrenty) but now the battery is lucky to last 30 seconds.
