Unit installed May 2024, no problems in the interim. Power usage fine since install, noise much quieter than prior unit...install was good at the time. Just had to lodge a service call as pressure valve not functioning last couple of days. Show details ·  1

Bad product – As a result of installing this heat pump, we lost our pleasant hot showers as had cold water for the first week because of the incorrect installation by Energy Makeovers pty ltd. Since the day of installation, we noticed a reduction water pressure, shower water pressure andtemperature fluctuate if another tap is opened. The heat pump takes a very… Read more

long time to heat up the water, so we have to space out our hot showers. We also hear a hammering sound in the master bedroom wall where the heat pump is installed. It's been more than 12 months we are still dealing with these issues. We would've never installed a heat pump if we knew we would experience these issues. They mislead customers as they should inform customers about the negatives of their product. Don't ever think to replace your gas hot water unit with a disastrous heat pump.

Ecogenica works like a treat! – Absolutely a gem heat pump! We had three units installed, a split 290L for myself, an all in one 260L for my son and a smaller split 215L for my mom. A year later and I can vouch Ecogenica heat pumps work a treat! Plenty hot water, extremely reliable and super cheap to run! I even spoke to the developer Mike before I got them and he was extremely… Read more ·  1

helpful.

I was sceptical at first, thinking why move away from a working 20 year old gas hot water system. In hindsight it was the best decision we made and should have done it sooner!

The installer should get a medal and a raise for his workmanship!

I would have no doubt recommending these units whatsoever!

Great unit, so glad i changed from gas – What a brilliant unit, when installed it only took just over 3hr to heat 290lt of water from 13c to 60c and the unit was only drawing 700watts, the unit is as noisy as a split system aircon and that's not to load, i must say the installation was brilliant and so professional. the plumber from barker plumber did a fantastic job, he is proud of his… Read more ·  1

work !!, WELL had system for close to a year now and im very impressed, never ran out of hot water and because i have system only heating during the day doesn't cost anything to run because of the solar panels. IT'S BEEN OVER A YEAR NOW, and I'm very impressed, never run out of hot water and i have gone from three bottles of LPG to one. the solar system runs it during the day so NO COST,

Lived up to everything I considered, but there was one thing I didn’t consider… – This system has lived up to the all of the expectations I had before purchasing. However, since installation there has been one feature which I did not consider before purchase, but has significantly limited the enjoyment we get since it was installed. First the good stuff: Installation was very efficient, electricity consumption is excellent,… Read more

heat pump works effectively and automatically restarts after a power outage. I set up a split system with the tank in my subfloor area and the compressor on the opposite side of the wall outside. This really helped to maximise the space I had available. Also, the customer service from FreeHotWater and Ecogenica has been absolutely top notch. Now the con: The pressure. This tank is rated to only 500pKa. To your average homeowner like me this rating doesn’t mean much, so it wasn’t something I looked at before purchase. However, what it resulted in for us is: Noticeably lower shower pressure compared to before - my wife in particular is not happy with this outcome. Even when only 1 shower is running and no other hot water in the house is being consumed , the pressure is now too low for the shower to be enjoyable. We actually have a double shower and that is now completely unusable and effectively redundant. I raised this issue and Ecogenia sent out a certified plumber promptly (again, customer service has been fantastic). The plumber tested and found that the pressure was at 500pKa and confirmed that there is nothing more that can be done to increase the hot water pressure as this was the max rating for the tank. Update: A 2nd plumber sent by Ecogenica found that there was a flow issue with one of the valves installed (as opposed to a pressure related issue as previously thought). Since he replaced this valve the flow has been great! It did take a while to get to this point though.

Happy with heat pump – We had this installed in February 2024 so in for 6 months now. We have had 2 other Heat Pumps in the past 22 years and this one has the fastest recovery of them all. Yes I know it is made in China but the quality is better than both the Rheem and Siddons Solarstream we have had previously. Noise level is a little lower than previous units. Time will tell but given our experience so far I am happy to recommend this unit. Show reply
