Terrible service/Like a thief – My washing machine had an issue and did not work. I found out from the internet that was the panel board problem. So, I called the electrolux office in adelaide to check and fix the issue. It should be noted that they did not tell me they want to charge 145 dollors only for call out. The person came and charged me 145 dollors just for telling that… Read more

the problem is panel board, without any fixing!!! Till that time I could not justify myself to fix the washing machine because of the Electrolux terrible attitude.

Update: machine has actually held up well – Update: The original review was a fair reflection of our early experience with Electrolux. However, since the technician fixed the motherboard, we have not had a single issue in over 7 years. Machine runs great! months, starting about six months after the warranty expired.

I regularly followed the care and cleaning sections of the manual. I can't figure out what causes the machine to stop mid cycle. It does it on all of the different cycles I've tried.

Really upset to have spent so much on what we thought would be a washing machine to last at least 5-10 years, but instead it hasn't even managed 3.

Now I have to fork out to get it fixed (even though it seems from the other reviewers that nothing can be done to fix it). Great features. Great spin function. Expensive, Broke down just after warranty period, a little noisy

Loooove this machine :-D – I have owned this machine for just over a year now and its performed flawlessly. Never had any issue with it. I have kept the machine clean by cleaning the drain filter, detergent drawer regularly and also running 90* washes with no clothes in and some vinegar regularly to keep the machine clean and fresh. time manager aspect. The only bad thing I can think of is the Jetsystem sometimes kicks up a lot of foam even if a small amount of detergent is used. Overall, love this machine, i'm looking after it hopefully to avoid any service issues in the near future :-) Cycle time is flexible, delicate cycle is great, 1400 spin leaves things very dry. Nothing much, just the jetsystem kicking up the foam a bit, thats all.

Washes well – This washing machine has been great for the 2 years that we've owned it so far. This machine is the bane of my life. I hate it. The machine "walks" across the floor on the spin c – I can think of no favourite features. It is very noisy on the spin cycle, and I always have to make sure someone is home when using the machine, as it has to be repositioned constantly. We are going to put the dryer on top hoping to stabilise the machine

Very mouldy seal, smells, extremely noisy, moves around - DON'T BUY ELECTROLUX – I wrote a review some years ago when we got this washing machine and we have had enough and are replacing it, even though it still works. Why? Rubber seal is VERY mouldy (despite leaving door wide open after every wash), the water outlet (within the rubber seal) is full of black gunk and impossible to clean, tendency to have an unpleasant 'stale… Read more

water' odour which transfers to the clothes if you don't take them out immediately, is very noisy and at times is EXTREMELY NOISY (sounds like a helicopter taking off!), can move around considerably due to vibrations when spinning, need I go on???!!! And all this despite running very hot washes (no clothes) through the machine regularly to clean it (often with vinegar & bicarb soda), leaving the door ajar and putting vinegar in the drum & the rubber seal to prevent mould/smells from bacteria (doesn't help). Sorry, but this washing machine is disgusting and because of all the problems we've had with both Electrolux washing machines & a dishwasher, I will NEVER buy their products again.

Had Enough. Replaced It – Machine lasted 5 1/2 years and in that time the PC board was replaced under extended warranty twice. The latest drama was that it went for a walk and the drum smashed into the side of the shell. It then made a horrendous noise when in spin mode and would bounce around. Decided that we were better off replacing it and vowed never to buy an Electrolux appliance again.

3rd Breakdown in a year – Can't believe this machine can breakdown so many times. Its the same thing every time, the machine will not pump the water in properly and keeps stopping with an error on the screen. With 4 kids we rely on the machine to work and last for a long time. Very poor quality.

Just like everyone else found....it was a dud! – We'd warn anyone thinking about buying an Electrolux front loader washing machine to look elsewhere. Our machine broke down after 18 months and then less than a year later while under extended warranty, it has been written off. Looking at a number of other posts it seems that you get about two years of working life with this machine before it… Read more

dies. That's not good value for the price. So while this model has been discontinued our experience (and those in so many other posts) doesn't inspire any confidence in Electrolux products.

What we'd would like to warn others about, too, is the variable quality of approved service agents, especially if you are in a country area. The first one we were allocated tried to say that we had caused the problem by using the wrong soap powder, that he'd fixed the machine just by pushing a few buttons and owed him $100. Before he'd finished writing out the invoice, we tried the machine and lo and behold up came the same error message and the machine still didn't work. We must add that he didn't even have a toolbox with him and definitely didn't look inside the machine. Plus, we've had front loader machines for years including an Ariston that lasted for over 13 years and only ever bought front loader powder so knew he was talking rubbish. Without going into the next part of the saga, eventually another very professional service agent from a nearby town fixed the machine. When the machine broke down again, a different problem from the first time, guess who Lumley wanted to send out to fix it? We told them about our experience and they eventually sent out someone else on whose report they wrote off the machine.

We were given a store credit for what we'd paid for the machine but the retailer only has a limited range of choices in terms of brands and models. So while we are now about to take delivery of a new washing machine, we've found there are some limitations with extended warranty policies and nothing can ever really compensate you for the inconvenience of not having a washing machine for over a month. As part of making a decision about a replacement machine, we deliberately chose a product that won't be serviced by our local repairman. We figured that any company that didn't think he was good enough, must be better than Electrolux.

Having done some research about our rights as consumers, Electrolux and Winnings from whom we bought the machine, need to act in the spirit of the law. It's not good enough for them to have all the generic wording about our consumer rights in their terms and conditions but then hide behind the 2 year manufacturer's warranty and the extended warranty when a machine such as this one is clearly a big juicy lemon. For what all of us in these posts have paid, we expected these machines to last a lot longer than they have. Having absolutely no faith in the clayton's consumer rights laws or in the retailer or in the manufacturer, we've bought another extended warranty policy with our new machine. Hopefully it will be here next week and it will work without having to claim under any warranties in the next 5 years. For what it's cost us it should last at least that long.

3 times unlucky? – I originally did a lot of research about which front loading machine to buy. I wanted to buy something that washed well, had low running costs, wasn't water hungry and a quality product overall. I finally settled on a $1200 8kg EWF1495 model. the start. It never even got going. Electrolux replaced this with a new one. Happy days! Well, exacting 2 years later this unit died because the circuit board failed. I was beginning to think what was I doing wrong. There's only 2 in our family and I generally only do 3-5 loads a week. Again, we got a replacement and were 'upgraded' to a EWF1481. This is now just over 5 years ago. I still do the same amount of washing as always - in other words, not much. Well today I've just had the serviceman around. He tells us that the electronics are shot. It probably will cost $400 + labour to fix. Interestingly, each of our dead machines have all been related to dead electronic boards. Our latest fault is that no matter what cycle you put on, it tells you that the unit is draining and then promptly thinks the cycle is over by unlocking the door. I realise the machine is 5 years old, but truth be told, it's hardly done any work. I'm now wondering if I should just forget about repairing this machine and opt for a different brand.

WORKS FINE UNDER WARRANTY BUT AS SOON AS WARRANTY ENDS PROBLEMS AFTER PROBLEMS! – I am extremely disappointed with the performance of this machine especially at the price that it cost to buy. Terrible machine – My machine broke down regularly after the warranty expired. I have spent too much time and money trying to fix it and have now decided to cut my losses and just buy a new (cheaper) machine. My washing machine repairman told me that this model seems to have quite a few issues as he has fixed a lot of them. Don't buy this. Good wash, when it worked. Regularly broke down after warranty. Stops randomly during cycles – I have been issues for sometime where the machine would stop mid-cycle and and the play button would start flashing. cleaning the filter only to find nothing in there. None of these steps seemed to fix the problem. If i kept repeating the cycle, by luck it sometimes worked if I shortened the cycles, however this is ridiculously frustrating as I should not have to sit by and monitor such a machine. After a while this problem has only got worse, despite replacing hoses, filter maintenance and rebalancing and I cannot even get 3 minutes into a cycle before it stops and the play/pause button flashes. In order to access the clothes I need to switch the dial to off after emergency draining the machine. I have a electrolux Stainless Steel fridge which works great - but now I am worried that I just haven't had it long enough before the problems emerge. extraordinary - worst service I have ever received. I was home alone and told to lift the dryer off the washing machine on my own as they refused to do it.

I had to pay $300 for a removalist to carry the washing machine so it could go to the repair shop as they would not carry it up stairs, only for it to break down again. The financial, emotional and time related cost in dealing with this brand and after sales team has not been worth it. Buy something else - this is a sad attempt to compete with real European brands. I have a Whirlpool which I've had for 10 years which I've retired to our holiday home and have never had a problem with it.

weeks! not including this breakdown, which is already at 1 week. The down time has been mainly due to a lack of parts availability.

If this had been a car, that had been off the road for the same fault, for that amount of time, it would have been considered a "lemon" under the new laws to protect consumers!

This situation I am in would no longer happen, as NSW laws would, in this situation allow me to demand either a refund or replacement of the unit. This came into effect on the 1st of January 2011. Items purchased prior to that are still covered by the "Consumer Guarantee", this is separate to a warranty, and is law.

Marina at electrolux, if you want to help me, how about a replacement???

Bad – Not overly impressed with this machine any more, wouldn't buy Electrolux again, we've had too many problems with this model and the previous one, which they replaced. their claims service (for dishwasher fire) was abysmal. Washes well, no complaints there, except that the clothes now have a stale water smell after washing. Relatively quiet. Have had this model for 2 yrs now and starting to get problems. The rubber door seal developed black mildew at the bottom even though I was leaving the door ajar in between washes. Had to get the service tech out, he replaced the door seal at no charge and advised me to leave the door wide open in between washes and also to wipe out the excess water that sits in the bottom of the rubber door seal after the wash finishes. I use a sponge to soak up the water, I did not realise so much water pools there and does not drain away. None of these tips are mentioned in the the Instruction booklet. It does say to leave the door ajar but an inch or two is not enough. Also, in recent months my machine has developed a horrible stale water smell that also lingers on the clothes after they've been washed. I've tried running empty washes on the hottest cycle but the problem comes back. I've got a service call in, but no advice was given over the phone on how I might be able to rectify this problem, which I understand may be caused by a build-up of detergent, and subsequent bacteria proliferation, within the machine. The last time the service tech came out, he gave me a sachet of stuff to run through the machine on a hot wash, but it hasn't got rid of the smell. I try not to overuse detergent and I regularly run a hot clothes wash, so don't understand why my machine has this problem (and no, I don't use fabric softener). Very annoying!!!
