Cheap hose – Lasted twoand a half years with a weekly use, then hose broke, not cracked but one pipe slips out of the other easily and the length adjusting part won't work so it just slides in and out which makes it almost impossible to use . Will have to buy a new hose or just attempt to use it taped up. Otherwise it's quite a good vacuum but nothing outstanding. Agree that a $80 Kmart job would be just as good..... Wouldn't buy Electrolux again. Show details

Love it – I love my vacuum. This is the second Electrolux I've owned both have been great. I don't have issues with this vac falling over but i take my time. I use the control on top for suction on low as it is a very powerful vac but saying that by the time the bag is full the suction just gets moved along. I like clean floors I like a strong suction in a vacuum. This machine does both. Very satisfied.  Show details

Europe made – I worked servicing vacuum cleaners for a number of years and also sold vacuum cleaners. The vacuum cleaner I use is a Wertheimer 5035 this vacuum cleaner was made by Electrolux and badged Wertheimer for Godfrey's.This vacuum cleaner came with a power head with what's called a beater Barr. This gets the dirt from deep down in the carpet. The vacuum… Read more

cleaner has HEPA filtration .It's so good it will take cigarette smoke out of the air.its extremely good for asthmatics. It also picks up dust mites and on top of all that it has a Kevlar top so it's extra strong. Its also very quiet .This vacuum cleaner uses a germastatic bag system. It means you can fill to the max and it won't burst and there is absolutely no loss of suction. This vacuum cleaner is so every member of my family have onei

Quiet but that's about all. Don't waste your money – Yes it is very quiet, but the hose broke after 4 months. It took godfrey's 4 weeks to 'repair' it under warranty. The hose split twice since then. it is mostly held together by gaffer tape anyway. Split again today so threw it in the rubbish where it belongs. I owned it for 16 months all up. I just purchased a Miele today, it's great!  Show details

Hose broke after 7 months – Hose split after only 7 months. So disappointed . Had one of these years ago and it lasted a while ! Went into Godfrey where I got it from who told me I'd be better off purchasing the hose myself online  Show details

Terrible - No more Electrolux – Hose was broken in one year, No good. You will need to spend 45 bucks to replace the hose. And again will be broken after six months. Previously I used one $49 vacuum cleaner from KMart, which I used for six years without worrying, also with extra bags. Electrolux vac doesn't come with extra bag, so need more money. Do not waste your money buying… Read more

from Electrolux, they are money eater. Customer service also worthless, they will tell you to pay for their fault.

I will never recommend Electrolux.

BAD QUALITY – Godfreys do not seem to honour warranties for faulty and/or poorly made products. The flexible hose ripped twice in two years. The first time, only one year after purchase, the hose was replaced, as it was within the original 2 year warranty. The hose broke AGAIN about six months later!!! When I contacted Godfreys, I was told I had… Read more

to bring the whole vacuum cleaner into the store, have it inspected, and was told that a replacement part would be ordered or the breakage would be repaired.

Even though I advised customer service, through email, of original date of purchase AND date of first repair, nobody bothered to inform me that the replacement hose, from only six months earlier, only had a three month warranty!!!

So, not only was I made to waste my time, travel to a Godfreys store with a heavy vacuum cleaner, then be made to waste more time while they inspected it, only to be told after all of that B.S, that there was nothing they could go as the hose was out of warranty.

Is that legal?

I am pretty sure that if I were to contact the ACCC or Fair Trading, that I will be told that it is not.

All Godfreys had to do, was to simply advise me through email, that the hose was no longer under warranty, and I would not have had to waste my time and effort unnecessarily.

Thank you Godfreys.

This fault seems to be a very common issue so I will be using peoples comments on this website, as part of my complaint, when I contact the ACCC.

When they tell me what I can do, and what Godfreys should have done, I will post their advice on this website so other people don't go through what I went through.

If I wanted a bad quality, poorly made vacuum cleaner, then I would have bought one from Kmart or Big W.

I bought the Electrolux Classic Silence from Godfreys, paying $149, because I wanted a quality vacuum cleaner. I expected to get a quality vacuum cleaner.

I Don't know why I bothered.

Not happy – Not happy with performance, poor suction; it's quieter and have long cable which is good. But not easy to maneuver. Hose connection in my vacuum broken from the glued connection at the vacuum end in one year time. Bad construction, it should be screwed connection. We use in small floor area of carpet and timber floor. Not better than the cheap one from Kmart I used before. Sorry to say, not worth for money, may be worth $50.  Show details

All is good, except the hose – I bought my Electrolux just over a year. Anyway, I must say it is a great vacuum cleaner especially with the turbo head. However, the hose is nothing short of bad quality. The hose has slit in a number of places, now wrapped in electrical tape. Last week, it split from the attachment to the actual cleaner. This has never happened to me before. For the price, I would expect better quality.  Show details

Poor quality parts let down a classic – My family has only ever bought Electrolux vacuum cleaners because they were the best. Not any more. My experience with the Classic Silence is eerily similar to others who have posted reviews of this model. The felt on the underside of the nozzle came off almost immediately and it sounded like a loud screeching cockatoo whenever I used it! About… Read more

two weeks ago, the hose started splitting and unraveling so I can't use my vacuum at all now. In my entire life I have never seen this happen to a vacuum hose before. And it's only 18 months old. What can I say - this Electrolux vacuum cleaner sucks for the wrong reasons.

Poor durability of key parts – Mother in Law convinced me to let go of my trusty 20 year old Sanyo. I was immediately sceptical about the quality of the hose and fittings on this Electrolux Classic Silence . Sure enough, it has now fallen to bits after just 18 months of modest use. The felt pads peeled off the head almost immediately and now hose has split. Hose is connected to… Read more

a fitting in the neck that requires a whole new expensive part! I cannot self fix it like every other vacuum I've owned. Unimpressed to say the least!

Decent and quiet vacuum cleaner. Pity the hoses split too readily – The Classic Silence is a reprise of an earlier pair of Ultra Silencer vacs from Electrolux. We had one of those and the first hose eventually split after many years. I bought a new hose and noticed it was quite a lot lighter than the original. The new hose split after about 12 months and I found the Classic Silence as an almost complete… Read more

replacement at not much more than twice the cost of another replacement hose on its own. Almost a year later, the original vac wore out and stopped so we put the Classic Silence into service. So far so good except I am worried about the hose life. Based on the original cleaner, the floor tool is not too durable either and the wheels eventually fall off.

Quiet, great on solid floors, stiff to move on pile carpet. Decent suction but does not pick up things like small Lego parts or peanuts very well, particularly on carpet.

Poor quality – I have no problem with the performance of the machine but its hose split after a few months and it keeps splitting. I tape it up and it splits again and again. I lost the receipt and went back to Godfreys who said they don't keep parts - poor after service as well - not a happy customer!!

In for motor repair within 2 months of purchase – Purchased to replace old Miele. Initially very promising - small, light, manoeuvrable and effective on hardwood floors. Within 2 months of purchasing motor died. Repair quoted as 6 weeks...almost same amount of time I've owned the vac for! Hose, floor tool and accessories cheap and nasty compared to Miele and Bosch.

Poor suction – I have a Classic Silence model purchased in 2015. I was excited to get a new vacuum cleaner after my 15+ year old dinosaur (also Electrolux) finally died, but I'm disappointed with this model. The suction is poor. I often have to go over the same spot several times to pick up dirt, which makes it hard to do a thorough job as most dirt and dust… Read more

isn't highly visible. I've also found that slightly larger particles such as bits of grass or long hair inevitably turn into a big lump of muck that gets stuck in the front part of the vacuum and that has to be dug out manually (yuck!). I never had this problem with my previous vacuum nor any others I've used. The bag indicator also doesn't work very well; it doesn't turn red until the bag is extremely full - I usually change the bag way before that point.

It is reasonably silent, and that's about the only good thing I have to say about it - the dog doesn't find it too scary.
