Very Disappointed – After 12 months of purchasing this vacuum and minor usage, I have decided to review it. After doing a great deal of research and reading reviews from Choice on the Sebo K3 Premium I decided to purchase one. I really needed a quality vacuum that cleaned deeply and got rid of dirt and pet hair. Nowhere did I read that beware using the motor head… Read more
on certain carpet! The motor head is so powerful with hard bristles and spins furiously.
First try using the cleaner I ran it over a section of my carpet and to my horror it fluffed up my loop pile carpet causing damage. It wasn’t until I read the small print in the paperwork that it said not to use on any form of loop pile carpet.
On my timber floors it’s not that much better than my Dyson.
It has great suction and runs really quietly. Build is quality but it’s cumbersome to drag around and the hose is always kinking and cutting the air flow. The power cord is so touchy and just starts retracing back into the cleaner and reefing out of the power point.
I am really thankful that I still have my Dyson cordless to use, so quick and easy! I use it religiously and might get out the Sebo every month or two for a deeper clean using the standard head!
Now after purchasing in September 2022 it is playing up and continuously with the power cutting off. Obviously some sort of connection issue? You have to jiggle the cord or hose to get it running. The suction is also inconsistent. Such a shame as it is a sturdy powerful and quiet machine.
I am so disappointed that I spent so much money on a corded vacuum where you even have to change the bags.
Great for carpets, otherwise just average – This vacuum cleaner really excels on carpeted floors so there’s nothing to add to the other reviews on that side. However, it doesn’t come without issues. The biggest flaw is the power cord reeling mechanism which is way too sensitive. The cord reels back in from the smallest nudge and damages the power plug by pulling it violently off from the… Read more
power point. The wheels are too small and getting over obstacles isn’t smooth sailing. When you pull harder, the main unit tips over. I also think that the same suction power could have been achieved with smaller power consumption. European Union was absolutely right when they regulated vacuum cleaners to have max 800W motors. Anything over that will only generate wasted heat, which isn’t really desirable in the Australian climate. The performance isn’t even impressive on hardwood floors. The hose gets bent too easily which causes instant suction loss when moving around. In this price range you really expect to get a better quality product.

This is perfect – I am an older person who wanted a small vacuum cleaner with all the different attachments, that is not too heavy. It is quite compact but very good. It I have longish hair and it picks up that off the carpet, that you can't always see. I have had it around 12 months now and never had a problem with it. I use it on tiles and carpet. It was quite expensive but worth the money. Show details · 1
Should have bought one 20 years ago – I recently purchased my first Sebo vacuum cleaner...the K3, after recommendations from friends. I've got to say this vacuum brings the carpet up like no other I've ever used! To say I was astounded by its ability would be an understatement. My carpets aren't new by any means, yet this vac brings the pile up like they are new! It's quality German… Read more · 1
construction is noteable, and the wheels that rotate 360 degrees are a wonderful plus. The design is faultless. From the ease of changing the bag, to the connection of rods to the overall presentation and performance. I'm kicking myself that I've struggled for years with Hoovers, Werteims and Electrolux vacuums when all the while there was THIS on the market! Simply perfect.
Wish i had bought this vacuum years ago! – This vacuum replaced my Dyson dc54 that i had for about 5 years which was not vacuuming well and was starting to fall apart being plastic. Being "filter-less" which just means the big HEPA filter is hidden in the middle of the machine and requires completely pulling it apart to replace. Which would have fixed it and swore to never buy Dyson again.… Read more · 3
With that in mind i hit the net in search of my next vacuum. I wanted another "barrel" vacuum and one that was easy to maintain and would hopefully last me a much longer time then the Dyson. This met all my requirements and seemed to have a decent amount of good long term reviews. So i bought it in August 2022 and have loved it ever since.
Some of the things that sold me on this Vacuum were...
- An actual powered head this is a great and over looked feature that is missing from a lot of barrel vacuums that just let the suction spin the brush. Being powered it cleans so much better by actually brushing the carpet with force and letting the suction suck only. The carpet looks like it was actually cleaned every time just from this alone much like an upright would do which we never saw with the Dyson. Also the roller is very easy to remove.
-Being bagged and still having 2 filters makes the vacuum and air in my house cleaner, while also making the vacuum much more likely to last a very long time. I know being bagged is a big off put for some people but it is so much cleaner then having to empty the dirt often from the barrel. We use the vacuum daily and having 2 dogs, a baby and 2 girls in the house it gets a lot of a work out with hair (Long hair is the one area i think they could improve on). The vacuum lets you know when the bags are full and in the 5 months we have had it we have filled 2 bags.
- Being made in Germany. I have other German made appliances and could not be happier with them so knew this was a plus. It is a sturdy well made vacuum and all the attachments feel well made as well.
- Well thought out blockage area. In the 5 months of owning it we have had Zero blockages and they have made it very easy to get to the main area of the head that you could get blockages you simply open a spring loaded flap and they any blockages would be right there.
Noise its a vacuum they make noise so i don't really care about this aspect when looking for a vacuum.
The only area i think Sebo could improve with this vacuum is in the brush area as it gets long hair wrapped up pretty often but this is a common vacuum problem so i don't know how they would fix this though. It is easy to clean it off though.
2 year update: the vacuum continues to work flawlessly and still cleans as good as when we first got it even with daily use with 2 short hair dogs and a toddler. I have found the bag cost and usage in that time to be very reasonable and the filters are still very clean which tells me the bags are working as they should.
Nothing has broken on it so it gives me a good hope that this vacuum will last a good long time.
Quality all the way – Sturdy manufacture, quiet operation. Materials are better quality than a lot of other mainstream brands. I can tell it will last. I have tiles & carpet. The power head really lifts the carpet & I love that the brushes under the hard floor head are on both sides not one like most other brands. Doesn't scratch my gloss tiles Show details · 2
Amazing Vacuum – This is by far above any vacuum on the market. Value for money. The brush head that comes with the vacuum is high performance. I have tried all the top name vacuum's and none of them compare to this. The most powerful in the market. Your carpets are like brand new every time. I purchased my vacuum in 2020 and have just purchased another one for my mother. Show details · 1
What a great surprise! – I have been through high end Bosch and Miele lines already. SEBO is head and shoulders above all! - solidly built, but not heavy to carry around - large bag - it has soft bumper around the unit to prevent furniture damage - surprisingly quiet, considering 2100W power on board - Airbelt refers to unique exhaust set up whereby the exhaust air… Read more · 2
comes out around the perimeter of the unit, therefore dissipating the flow - variable power, can be conveniently controlled from the handle while using the unit with a slider switch
The unique feature is the powerhead. It has its own driver, which makes it a tad noisier, but it makes a world of difference in cleaning carpets. It looks a bit bulky, but it is surprisingly easy to use as it sort of runs forward when active, so you don't need to push it forward. It also creates subtle vibration on the carpet, lifting dirt and dust, making it easier to remove. It can get under any bed and reach as far as the handle and your arm allows as it can be completely flat at 180 degrees on the floor.
SEBO give a 10y warranty with 12 monthly service at $100 today where they service the entire unit.
The only CON is the price, but that's the price of the powerhead. In this price group SEBO simply blitzes all competitors and the powerhead is well worth it.
I'll update this review further down the line.
Easy to manage, lightweight quiet and efficient – We have both carpet and tiles and find this cleaner does both to perfection. All attachments are brilliant and easy to use. There is a feel of quality and longevity about this cleaner. Show details · 1

The floating vacuum Cleaner – 3 months ago I put carpet in 4 bedrooms, rumpus room and hallway with 100% wool carpet (very expensive) and I wanted to use the right vacuum cleaner to vacuum the carpet without causing any damage. I was recommended by the supplier of the carpet to purchase the SEBO K3 Premium Vacuum Cleaner. I was reluctant at first not because of the price… Read more · 1
(around $1100), but because it’s not a product that is advertised, and all you hear from TV is the Dyson. I decided to try this SEBO Cleaner, and what a great surprise. The cleaner glides over the carpet, smooth running efficient and does a great job. The only downfall is you have to change bags, it is not a bagless Cleaner, but if this Cleaner is doing the job and helping to extend the life of the carpet, it is worth it. I would thoroughly recommend this cleaner 100%.

Finally a vacuum that works – I have been using various vacuums over the past 15 years including Hoover, Wertheim, Electrolux, Miele and Sauber. They all had their pros and cons but none were as efficient as the SEBO K3 Premium. I've got a mix of Tiles and Wool Loop Carpets. deep clean on my Carpets, and they look great afterwards and feel clean too. The SEBO K3 is a very sturdy vacuum that has a low centre of gravity so doesn't tend to tip over like some of the others, and I love the bumper protection around the outside that protects my walls. I'm extremely impressed with this vacuum and will be recommending it to all my friends.
two years and still going strong – I'll admit that I was talked into this purchase and was not entirely sure when I bought it as it was very expensive compared to other vacuum cleaners. I'm glad I did. This is just a really consistent, workhorse vacuum cleaner. We have no troubles with it. constant issues from the start.
I have to say I'm extremely happy with this thus far. It works a treat in a busy family household with a dog. I would recommend the Sebo vacuum.
Best machine for picking up pet hair – It has the best powerhead in the market compared to it's rivals. I've tried hoover, Miele, Electrolux but nothing beats Sebo. The pickup is phenomenal and the bags are huge Show details · 1
The best vacuum cleaner I've ever used! – Our carpets have never looked so clean. It's a light grey carpet, so between 3 kids and my cat, the mess was always evident! The carpet would look so dirty after just a week with our old vacuum cleaners (Dyson & Electrolux), but it takes about 2-3 weeks for the carpet to start looking grubby again when using the Sebo. We're not the biggest fans of… Read more · 2
vacuuming, but both my hubby and myself actually enjoy using this vacuum cleaner! Comfortable to hold - and not too noisy at all. I was concerned about the noise, but discussing this info with the Sebo team before I bought it helped me there. It does run at a lower pitch than most vacuum cleaners I've used. So if you don't like lower rumbling sounds, and prefer something with higher pitched wailing, then maybe this vacuum cleaner is not for you! But if you want a clean floor, then this is THE vacuum cleaner to have. It's also incredibly easy to change the bags over, and they hold a lot more than what you think they can. My cat is black and white, so her fur shows up anywhere! The Sebo K3 picks it up so well. I remember running the previous vacuum cleaners over and over the same spot, trying to get up all the fur. It felt futile. Now just one or two runs of the vacuum cleaner in a certain place and the carpet is spotless. I have to say, the cord could be a little longer, but given the great job the Sebo does, and that we have lots of powerpoints all over the place anyway, it's not a problem for us. I don't mind the retractable cord, either. At least it retracts, which is a great improvement on other brands of vacuum cleaners I've used! I don't mind that there are two switches required to use the vacuum cleaner. If it doesn't work, I just remember that I have to push a button somewhere - either the button on the power head or the slider on the handle! It's great that you don't have to hold the suction control slider while vacuuming: just pick a power level and off you go! And you can change it at any point, too. But the green light on the power head is a bit eerie. My husband particularly likes that it's a 'soft start' motor ie it doesn't draw a chunk of power on starting, unlike most other vacuum cleaners. Our ceiling lights don't flicker when we use it. My kids are forever playing on the carpet. I now don't have to worry that they're getting a face full of dust and cat fur etc. while they're playing. And I have also noticed that the carpets had a bit of a weird (old? musty? dusty?) smell to them before, but that's gone now with using the Sebo. The Sebo does a significantly better job than any of our previous vacuum cleaners did. I like that the cleaner stands up, that it has a safety orange pedal at the back of the power head that you have to manually flick off to use. Kind of useful when vacuuming around kids. And it also means you don't have to constantly turn it off at the motor when you need to move something (eg to vacuum under or around it) before you can keep going. You just flick the orange pedal (with your foot), the handle can then drop down, and off you go. Nice and easy. Overall, it's not perfect, but hey, it's a vacuum cleaner, I don't like using them anyway, ha ha! BUT it's the best darned vacuum cleaner I've ever used, and I've done a lot of vacuuming in my time. I like products that work - and the K3 Sebo works exceptionally well.
Too many design faults – I have a large house with a mix of carpet, polished floors and tiles. The powerhead DOES vacuum the carpet well and if you have just carpet and a one level house you could be happy with this model. To vacuum anything but carpet you have to change the head of the vacuum which is annoying and the powerhead is too large to vacuum stairs. If you try… Read more
to use the powerhead on tiles it just flings the dust/dirt around the room. The design faults include the retractable cord - which retracts at the slightest nudge and then pulls the cord out of the wall. Absolutely infuriating! On the handle of the vacuum is a sliding dial - this adjust the level of suction you get but they've placed it right where your hand holds the vacuum so one minute you are vacuuming away and the next you've nudged the dial and there is almost no suction - seriously the dial belongs on the body of the machine (if needed at all - I mean who wants a vacuum that doesn't suck?) and I couldn't agree more with the reviewer who mentioned the electrical cord which runs up the inside of the vacuum handle and blocks all the dust getting into the bag. I have NEVER needed to prod and poke at fluff and dust as much as I do with this vacuum (and no I am not sucking up paper and sticks or leaves just normal household dust). I have left it a year to leave a review as I have really been trying to like this machine having done so much research (esp. Choice) and spent so much money but I would never buy another.

those dust and fluff bunnies. Does Not appear to be tiring to use and the power cord has excellent reach. Thoroughly recommended. What, no sixth star!!! Have to settle for five then.
10/10 – Purchased the SEBO K3 white vacuum at Harvey Norman Auburn 12 Nov 2017. At the risk of sounding like an ad, the HN staff were wonderful. powered head (non-electric). When the bag is empty this does an OK job. 5 years ago we moved into our current house. It has a much more powerful in the wall system. We have successfully used the Nilfisk ‘suction’ powered head on the end of the more powerful system for the last 5 years. However, this is still fairly slow requiring a lot of hard work moving the head many times back and forth over the same spot.
The carpet upstairs in the new house is a longer, say 12mm, pile carpet. We notice in high traffic areas, the pile gets ‘squashed’ and needs to lifting.
To handle this thicker carpet, our intension was always to get an electric motorised head. My options included two German brands. (1) Miele C3 with Electrobrush, or (2) SEBO K3 with power brush (electric). Fortunately, HN Auburn had both models and I was able to trial each model.
Impressions in-store: the SEBO was the one that had the most impressive performance on carpet. The SEBO electric power brush felt twice as powerful as the Miele. Set on height setting (2). It crawled across the carpet away from you and all you had to do was gently glide it back. Why? I noticed the SEBO rotating brush had longer bristles and these rotated very fast. These also protruded further out the bottom. Both had 5 variable heights for different styles of carpet. However, aesthetically the matt bronze colour of the Miele looked better and this may be more important for some.
Got our SEBO home last night and was blown away by the performance of the electric brush head. So fast and easy. No wonder Choice loves it so much. Don’t think about it. Just buy it.
Excellent quality and does the job it is intended to do! – Vacuuming carpet and tiled areas, this machine works extremely well. Particularly the power head on carpets over a large family home. Vacuum is easy to handle and versatile. Very pleased with the suction performance. Choose this vacuum as it is a bagged vacuum cleaner. Other factor in our selection was the Choice Magazine review and recommendation for price and function. Show details · 1
Perfect machine – We bought the K3 Airbelt Premium with the turbo head. Works beautifully on our carpet, they've never been so clean. We have 2 cats and the head picks up everything. light. This vacuum fits the bill perfectly. The power head that I use on the carpet is heavy to pick up but I just attach the handle and move to where I want to go. It works brilliantly on carpets because I don't need to exert myself pushing it.
Yes, it has a bag but this bag goes a long way. We have a dog and she drops so much fur and I vacuum once a week maybe twice sometimes and I have only just changed the bag this week. The machine was bought in February. We have carpet and porcelain tiles throughout our 4 bedroom house.
The suction is great and the ease of changing all the attachments is so quick and easy. This vacuum is powerful but not loud. I thought at first the telescope handle could have been longer as I am 175cms but once trying, it's fine. I am not finding that I am bending over at all.
It has taken me 3 vacuums to find my perfect one now but I am absolutely impressed with this brand and all its qualities. Yes, it was over $1,000 but worth every cent. It has also won many Choice awards.
Vacuuming for me used to be a chore but now I love to actually vacuum and see and feel the results.
Love it – I have a cat and dog and the vacuum cleaner picks up there fur effortlessly. It is a pleasure to vacuum as I previously had a Dyson but found I had to vacuum over an area several times but not any more. I recently purchased the floor polisher and it brings my laminated floors clean and shiny without washing them Show details
Limited Usage – Purchased the Sebo K3 in November 2016. It is very quiet, and works very well with its powerhead on thick carpets. I have carpeted areas and polished wood floors, in a house area of almost 900sm. It is very poor on wood, using the parquet head. The primary problem is that the hose has an electrical wire through it (to power the powerhead), which… Read more
means the hose blocks very rapidly with anything other than just plain dust. In turn, this causes extreme heating in the unit, to the extent of the casement melting. So its real usage is limited to the carpeted areas. Thats ok, despite the high cost. What is also annoying is that Harvey Norman would only supply bags a full carton at a time...being a quantity of 48. The vac has an excellent reputation, but it is limited. For what it cost, I could have purchased 19 of Aldi's $80 bagless cyclonic vacs...which in hindsight may have been the smarter option. But if you are set on buying one, be ready to clear the hose and attachments after each room.Or watch it melt...
Amazingly efficient and easy to use – I bought this to replace my Dyson DC23 Turbo which was too heavy and cumbersome to use and a nightmare to clean. By comparison this fantastic machine is light, easy to use and a dream to empty. It cleans really well on my wool carpet and my wooden flooring and picks up all of the dog hair. It packs away neatly in my small hall cupboard and whilst the turbo head is noisy, it's quieter than my Dyson was and I love it. Show details
Best vacuum ever invented for pet owners! Worth every cent – I purchased the top of the line electrolux vacuum allegedly designed for pet hair but it was rubbish. The pet hair kept getting tangled in the rollers on the vacuum head and it simply did not pick up all the pet hair even if I went over and over the same spot. I returned it after several weeks. I then searched high and low for an alternative… Read more
and narrowed it down to the Sebo (German made, fairly new to Australia) or the Dyson. I took a bag of pet hair to Harvey Norman and tested each out and the Sebo won by miles.
To put it in context, I have 3 dogs and a cat that live inside. After 2 days you can quite literally see tumbleweeds of fur flying down the hall. I have a large 4 bedroom house with combined carpet and tiles. With all previous vacuum cleaners, even after I thoroughly vacuumed, you could still see pet hair on the carpet.
However, my Sebo K3 Premium is amazing. I've now had it for over 6 months and it is used 3-4 times a week to vacuum the whole house, and it is still operating as it did when it was brand new.
The huge head is surprisingly easy to maneuver and gets right to the edge of things and the strong suction means even something lodged against a skirting board is picked up by Sebo.
After vacuuming the carpets, they look like they have just been washed because they are that clean. Also, the amount of dust I've seen that it collects is absolutely staggering. It is disgusting to think how dirty my carpets were before I got Sebo and I had no idea! (And my carpet is only 2 years old - imagine if it was really old!)
The only flaw I have found so far is that the Sebo does struggle slightly picking up kitty litter on tiles and tends to flick it around a bit irrespective of the power setting but I just use the long nozzle now for kitty litter. Given how awesome the vacuum is in every other respect, this is a 'nothing' issue.
I also love that the handle/hose stands up and that you can turn it on and off from the handle without having to always press a button on the vacuum body.
I had wanted bagless because of how many bags we go through (1-2 per week it seems), but the upside is that the bags are easy to install and contain the dust really well, so paying for bags is a small price to pay (they are not too expensive). It is much more hygienic than having to empty and wash a bagless canister.
The vacuum itself isn't particularly loud. The suction is so strong that little effort is required to use it - even my mum who has arthritis finds it easy to use. The cord could be longer, but I'd need to use an extension cord regardless so it makes little difference.
I purchased my Sebo from Harvey Norman. I normally never buy the extended warranties, but knowing how much use it would get, I bought the extended warranty which means if it fails anytime in the next 6 years, I will get a brand new replacement from Harvey Norman. I paid $1370 in total for the vacuum and the extra warranty (paying via 50 months interest free which means only $27.40 per month for 50 months - well worth it!).
If you are looking for a new vacuum and are prepared to really invest, I highly recommend you find your local seller of Sebo and go and test the K3 for yourself, and trust me, you'll be impressed!
They say it is - Used in the WHITE HOUSE, BUCKINGHAM PALACE and the VATICAN! I say it is the BEST! – With its power head engaged it runs by itself, never ever have I seen a better suction for all floor surfaces, be it wall to wall carpets, rugs or parquetry. It is light and easy to use even on stairs. Can’t fault it! And then there is its long power cable, you never need a second power point.
A bloody fantastic machine - well built & powerful suction – I previously owned a Sebo Automatic X3 Upright and had for years. Works beautifully. Recently upgraded to Sebo K3 barrel machine. Faultless machine- vacuuming is a pleasure – I started shopping for a new vacuum cleaner after my 10 year old Dyson's powerhead quit for no apparent reason and I could not justify the expense of a new one on a vacuum that is quite outdated. Premium based on reviews as well as the type of floors I would be using it on.
I am in a regional area and received the vacuum by post. At first glance the body looks quite small with a large, moderately heavy powerhead, which I like. Upon putting the machine together I could tell it was a quality unit with the precision and ease that the components clicked together.
I tried turned on the vacuum with the powerhead attached to clean a large living room rug that retains much of my dog's coat. Usually this is an onerous process of slowly moving the vacuum over the pile repeatedly. The Sebo (with the power head set to the appropriate height) moved effortlessly removing almost all the hair on the first pass. I continued vacuuming and the rug was as clean and hair/dander free as I had ever seen it. The brush motor is so powerful that the unit actually moves forward under its own power, of course height adjustment will vary the force transfer.
The rest of the house was a pleasure to clean and the hard floor tool proved effective. The Sebo has a variable power setting and whilst researching the unit I thought this was a gimmick, however I found myself having to turn the power down slightly on the hard floors to compensate for the closer seal the hard floor tool has on the hard surface.
This vacuum does operate with a bag which I have not previously been a fan of, and I would still prefer a bagless cylinder, however whilst Dyson was fantastic when their first generation vacuums were released, I am of the belief they have sacrificed technology in favour of marketing; I still want to buy a Dyson when I see their crisp, clean commercials.
Back to the Sebo, The bag somehow compresses the dust inside and there is still room in the bag after three uses of a average sized 4 x 2 house with an even mix of carpet and hard floors. So while there is an added cost of bags as well as a filter change, the performance of the Sebo, in my opinion makes the extra expenditure acceptable.
Being a new vacuum I have no experience with their customer service but hope it is an equally pleasant experience.
Sebo K3 – Hi. Bought this machine from Vaccity camberwell shop. Fantastic machine with a powerhead. Top of the range filteration system, very good for allergies. Bags are very cheap to find and the body of the machine is commercial type. very good quality parts and accessories. Bit pricey but still i recommend it. All the parts are nicely bulit and strong. Looks heavy but when using it, its very light weight
