Expensive Part
Bought this vacuum and been using it for 2yrs now. Then the suction hose cracked and I have to fix it myself to continue using it. Check miele website planning to purchase a replacement hose. Found out their replacement hose is too expensive, half the price of the whole vacuum? Might as well buy a new one with that price.
Purchased for $499.00.

Ideal vacuum for quick clean up
I purchased my Miele vacuum last year and its still running like brand new which is amazing considering I vacuum 2-3 times per week. It picks up dog hair easily and is easy to empty. I like that I can use it on all the different flooring in my house. Definitely a top purchase for me.

Cat and Dog (SGEA3, bagged version) January 2021 - The quiet achiever.
I bought the latest iteration of the Miele Cat and Dog after researching for weeks. The Miele SGEA3 sits in the mid-price range and performs very well. I use it for low pile carpets and rugs, as well as hard floors. It has a long power cord, is quiet, and has a range of suction settings that provide excellent dirt/dust collection in a variety of settings.
Why the bagged model? Experience with my two previous vacuums, one being a clunky Electrolux bagged cleaner that required minimal maintenance (although the lid hinge broke, the hose develope...

Great Vacuum So Far
This vacuum is a replacement of our 10+ years old Wertheim 5030 with motorised powerhead. We don't have any pet and our house is part carpeted part floorboard, but we just like a vacuum cleaner with powerhead for that extra lift. A new Wertheim would cost $1300 ($1100 with trade-in). After going through so many reviews, we decided to go with Miele Complete C3 Cat & Dog. It comes with a powerhead, though not motorised. However, we think it is better as a motorised powerhead means more potential issues down the track, which is the problem with th...
Read moree Wertheim powerhead (we managed to fix the issues ourselves a few times in the past with parts bought online, but not this time) At half the price of a new Wertheim, Miele's performance is on par, even without motorised motorhead. In fact, TheGoodGuys on eBay was on sale so further discount. The only downside is the cord is not as long as the Wertheim.Purchased in October 2020 at The Good Guys Online store for $561.65.

Amazing quality and affordable
Reliable, easy to use and works well. No fancy gimmicks but less to break! Doesn't get clogged, easy to change bags out. Very quiet but still powerful enough for everything
Purchased at The Good Guys for $450.00.
No more Miele for me. Head burned out
Only used it about 4 times and the rotary head started burning. After investigating I found the bushes that support the rotaty brush had melted. Having owned many Miele I've decided that's enough

Two faulty machines in two years
We purchased this model vacuum in July 2018 and it worked great for a while. Then one day, out of the blue, the barrel popped open during use and spewed dust everywhere, and stopped sucking. I turned the machine off and had a look inside to find that the canister was full of dirt and dust, which had clogged the filter. It was clear that not all of the dirt had been going into the bag. Gave it a good clean out and started vacuuming again. Worked for about 10 minutes and then the cover pops up again. Same issue: the canister is full of dust and t...
Read morehe filter is totally clogged. I spoke to Miele who replaced the machine with a brand new one. Within 10 minutes of the first vacuum, the same issue happened again and it wouldn't suck. I might add here that my house is not extremely dirty! It's your average family home with short-pile carpets and no indoor pets. This time they collected it and sent it to get inspected. After a week, they called me back and told me nothing was wrong with it. I told them to check again. Three weeks later, I get a call to say that there was a problem with it; it needed a new filter. Of course, this was definitely not the case because it was a brand new machine with a brand new filter. Anyway, I was charged $110 for that piece of wisdom, and they then tried to charge me another $40 or so for another filter, so when I got the machine back I took it straight in to JB Hi-Fi for a refund. In the store, I had a look at the Miele vacuum models, including the Cat and Dog, and straight away I could see the design flaw that was causing the issue in my machine – the hole in the canister that the suction tube attaches to does not sit flush against the opening of the bag inside. So, there is a huge gap, which you can put your fingers into, that would allow dirt to enter the canister and bypass the bag. Don't know why the experts weren't able to figure this out. Anyway, Miele were fairly helpful with all these issues, even though it takes forever to get through on the phone. They did say they would reimburse me the $110 service fee, but I emailed them over a week ago and have had no response.Purchased in July 2018 at JB Hi-Fi for $499.00.

Worst vacuum I have purchased in my lifetime
First use - telescope suction tube did not work; phoned Miele & they replaced it (how long will it last before the same issue will re-appear? Lifetime warranty? This suction tube is made on the cheap compared to the older Miele vacuums I have kept in my collection of the past.)
Second use - suction tube seems ok (for now). The dust bag inside the Miele (that is the one that came with the original vacuum when purchased) released a large amount of excess dust into the cavity it sits in. It is the first time in my life I have had to clean ins...
Read moreide the cavity of a Miele vacuum cleaner so much dust. The motor protection filter was clogged jam of dust (how will that impact the motor). The Miele TotalCare 5000 I have owned and used for 28 years is extremely clean and no dust inside the cavity where the dust bag sits. My brand new Miele is full of dust I had to clean out after first use! Third use - replaced the dust bag for the first time. About half way through the filling of the dust bag, the motor made a very strange and loud squealing/groaning sound (never heard in my life in a vacuum). I turned the appliance off at the wall. Opened to check, all seemed OK. Started it up again, no noise. General comment: The instruction manual says: "Airflow indicator: change the dust bag when the colour marker in the airflow indicator turns red." Well, as soon as you turn on the vacuum cleaner at the power it turns red, so that is no help!" And based on the event of second use above I am now checking the dust bag frequently to ensure another dust catrosophe does not arise. My older Miele's simply reduced their suction capacity when the bag got full - this one explodes the dust into the bag cavity!! Very poor. Older top of the range models used to be 2200 W (now they are only 2000 W). Older top of the range models used to come with all the accessories such as for timber floors and extenders (now they charge you separately for them). That is like most businesses models however, quality reduces, price increases.Purchased in November 2020 for $620.00.
Excellent vacuum cleaner
After constant ongoing maintenance of my Dysons, I decided on a Miele.
Very robust and well-made, convenient, easy to use - and all the dust and dirt trapped in the BAG! Powerful Suction forever, follows me easily, metal soleplate head - it has surpassed all my expectations. Highly recommend this.

Extremely disappointed.
Extremely disappointing. After owning a Miele vacuum for nearly 14 years I decided again to purchase this highly rated brand. Unfortunately in under 2 years this new machine has now completely stopped working. It gradually started working less effectively, less suction and having to remove fluff and hair stuck in the head multiple times while using. Then the bags stated not staying in position? and it the compartment filed up with what I had vacuumed and then a horrible burning smell and then a loud Pop sound. Something major has gone wrong. I have been told that this sounds like a burnt out motor and will be too expensive to fix! I bought Miele because I thought it would last, might as well have bought a budget vacuum from Kmart.

2nd Broken C3 in 4 years. Horrible customer service
I first purchased a c3 dog and cat vacuum when I moved here due to the carpet. I was replacing a cheap vvacuum cleaner from Godfrey's that had a powerhead. My cheap vacuum lasted me wellover 15 years.
I researched before I purchased and Miele had the best reviews. Spending six hundred dollars on a vacuum was a big decision but at first I was happy with my c3. It worked nearly as good a powerhead or even as good as a Kirby. Little things were frustrating. Having to clean the vacuum head after every vacuum as it collected so much hair. The p...
Read morerice of the bags were a little expensive especially if you are changing them every second vacuum. I found some on ebay that weren't so expensive and they fitted. After 11 months of use. One day it just stopped working. Engine wouldn't run etc. I rang Miele and asked about service centre. I was told that I had to take it to some place in an industrial area without public transport. I couldn't get there unless I wanted to be charged $60-70 on uber there one way. I had my car stolen a few months prior (and had made the decision to become a bike commuter) so there was no physical way for me to get there. I told Miele about transportation issues, explained why I couldn't get there (closest public transport from Brisbane service centre is just under five kilometres away - don't believe me? Go check on translink). The rep from Miele was rude, dismissive and really did not give a damn about customer service. I rang the service centre hoping that they might have a pick-up service. Of course they were NOT willing to help. Wouldn't even accommodate my request for it to be couriered. All of this was distressing to me and I just couldn't deal with it, so I just left it. Got an el chepo from Kmart but after struggling with the cheap one for ages (certainly felt like it, in reality was about 11 months). I decided that it would be better just to replace it. So in July 2019 I spent another $500 (on special at bing lee) to purchase another c3. As I said previously I had done this because I was under the assumption that it was quality. That the problem with my first machine was an anomaly.Purchased in July 2019 at Bing Lee Online store for $600.00.

Excellent vacuum
Had many vacuums which could not last the distance or do the job properly this vacuum is worth spending bit extra for great suction power cleans dust areas well and with 2 balconies this vacuum keeps them spotless I normally wouldn't bother reviewing a vacuum but this is A+ product. Also when you turn the vacuum on has soft quiet start up not full on loud like other crap brand
Purchased in September 2020 for $210.00.

I am a house keeper and have tried alot of different vacuums. This is by far my favourite, I had to buy one. The suction is incredible!! I don't like Dyson vacuums, I think they are over rated. They flick the dirt alot so you have to go over and over multiple times.

Excellent machine very thorough and wonderful on carpet and is the second Meile I have had, both wonderful.
I use the vacuum on carpet and tiles and it is equally good on all surfaces and has never tipped over. The suction is adjustable also which is very good

One of the best
Brought this a few months ago and I love the vacuum. I use the Miele turbo brush and this is the best brush ever made. I have cats plus all the dirt and dust here in Brisbane. Plus I am a asthma sufferer. This unit cleans it all. I have owned Dysons before the this is far superior. They key is to keep the unit clean , change the bag even when half full, change the 2 filters often and open up the turbo brush after each use and give it a good clean. Is a bit pricey but well worth it.

What happened to German engineering?
We live in a large, two-bedroom unit. About two-thirds of the floor is short-ply carpeting and the rest is tiled. The C3 does an ok job of picking up the dirt, the problem is how poorly the drum follows you. You have to constantly tug the hose behind you to keep the drum close or it will hang itself up wherever possible. It's so hard to use that I'm dripping with sweat after each time I vacuum the place. It shouldn't be this hard!
My wife has refused to use it after trying it the day I brought it home three years ago, so guess who gets to vacu...

Can I leave without it ?
I see myself as a vacuum cleaner addict. We do have a dyson V8, a Samsung robot and a Miele C3. We have purchased our Miele C3 after our previous Miele S5211 vacuum cleaner died unexpectedly.
The Miele C3 is definitely a family size vacuum cleaner, it has the power and clean well BUT its quiet heavy ! We use it every day as we have a 4 year old but Its like a workout for me at least!
I recommend this vacuum cleaner to people who want a powerful vacuum and they dont mind the weight!

Product failure after only 3 years.
I'm a domestic cleaner and a fan of Miele products, so when my boss needed to buy a new vacuum I persuaded her to invest in this top of the range one. Her purchase of this vacuum over other models and brands was based entirely on my glowing recommendation.
Now, just 3 years from the purchase, the vacuum stopped working and was found to need a replacement main power board (and exhaust filter). The repairer advised it was a product fault, with no obvious known cause that they could attribute it to. Cost to repair is nearly $400. My boss said no, she will buy Dyson instead.
I'm disappointed, annoyed, and embarrassed for my recommendation.

Great When it Worked
We decide to go with Meile after many many months researching vacs and found them to be the best brand.
We went with the c3 comfort with all the attachments.
Used it on tiles and low profile rug and low profile carpet
Was a great machine until after 4 years of use the motor decided to pack it in, loud noises and smelling of electrical burn.
To replace the motor will cost 300+, we paid $700 for a machine we expected to last 8 years, to the point we didn't get the extended warranty as Meile was supposed to be a life commitment.
Oh how wrong we were

Hi all I’ve just bought this vacuum and am having trouble connecting the hose to the unit. I’ve followed the instruction manual and watched some set up videos. Any tips ? I’m normally a very capable person but this has me stumped
2 answers
The hose does not connect vertically, but on an angle. If you look closely at the sides of the hose connection, there are two connectors (one on each side) that you hold in with one hand. As you push them in (on that angle), if you don't hold the connectors too tightly, and give the link a small wiggle, they should click into place with an audible "click". The angle is such that the hose "leans" forward over the front of the unit (away from the controls at the other end). Everything on the Miele has an audible click when it goes into place. If it still doesn't work, you're either "aiming" it in the wrong place, or you've tried to force it in and have broken one (or both) of the connectors... Once you've done it, you'll always get it right... Good luck!
Thanks Minerva did the trick :)
