Done and Dusted - very disappointed in theElectrolux EBM5100SDR – I bought this fridge thinking it was good quality just under five years ago, and it has now died! Poor value for money – We have experienced the same problems as Barbara & Mark, with the door handle continually falling off & the door hinge failing. very poor quality – Unfortunately the pieces all break off one at a time. The handle fell off the door in the first year which they replaced and then it came off again. The door shelves all break and then they don't have replacement parts.

constantly annoyed and bothered by the humming noise coming from this 6 yo baby and is getting so loud that we have to switch it off most nights to get ourselves to have peaceful nights. Even my in-laws who come to house sitting late last year commented that my refrigerator is really a noise maker all time when they were here. I was so embarrassed. As of today, only read about these reviews at this moment to learn that the noise could possibly coming from the fan or the compressor, but it is all too late as we have decided to go to shop for a new fridge and leave this old baby in the shed as a back up or use only when needed.

Don’t believe Electrolux would entertain a out of warranty product buyer, anyway, I am not prepared to try another Electrolux product again...

temperature of the freezer we keep at -15 degrees I have put a remote temp gauge in the freezer that I got for Christmas and I think the fridge stays around +5 degrees. Electrolux are still making a model that is very similar to mine it just has a different door handle. I nearly always buy Electrolux products as I have always had a good run out of them and from experience with other Electrolux products in the past if I need a service repair person they are there the next business day. I expect this fridge/freezer will last to about 8-10 years. I bought it from The Good Guys and always get their Extended Warranty so I know I am covered for 5 years at least. We love this fridge 10/10.

I've had this fridge for almost 4 years now and its still working great – We updated our kitchen and laundry with an Electrolux brand washer, dryer, dishwasher and fridge almost 4 years ago and this is the only item that has lasted the distance, so Electrolux are obviously doing something right with their fridges. than it did in our old LG model. My only complaint is that the larger of the two freezer drawers is a bit flimsy and falls apart when it is filled with too many heavy items. We also had our product delivered by Harvey Norman and one of the removable plastic shelves that fits onto the fridge door was not attached properly during transit and had broken. We got tired of trying to chase it up as the guys at Harvey Norman didn't want to know about it and said they would have to replace the whole fridge to get a new shelf, so we have just lived without it... but all the other components have proven to be durable and easy to clean.

Perfect sized fridge with practical freezer drawers – I wanted most possible storage with a good look for the fridge. Something this definitely has. No problem in 6 years and still happy with it. Good Fridge – Bought it when there is promotion going on in the good guys on ebay around $1100. Have been using it since jun 2016. We have set it up to the highest temperature but it is still very cold inside(good thing?). It is average quiet and with safety glass, it can carry a lot of weight. Very Reliable Fridge – One of the best fridges I've ever owned. Keeps a regular temperature throughout in all compartments. Doesn't make a peep and is easy to take apart the shelves to clean etc. We have not had any issues with it in the 3+ years we have owned it. Choice have said that you should expect to get at least 8-10 years from a decent fridge. This is just under 7 years old.

We are just about to update our Kitchen and whilst we have had 6 odd years without and issues, I am certainly contemplating going to another brand when we renovate.

An Avoidable Problem – My wife and I bought a full size fridge just over 4 years ago. Already the door hinge (top door) where the door pivots and carried the weight, is failing. The washer turned out to be plastic and is powdering away to the point we had to call out a service technician or the door would be ruined. By any measure it is a disgraceful choice of a small but essential part of the fridge. The call out fee was $145. What an insult.  Show details

Furious with customer "service" – The fridge is fine. Well. We've had it three years and we've had to replace the seal and had the tray in the door repaired once. Annoying freezer draws – I dont mind the fridge but the freezer draws can fall apart when you open them. As you could imagine its really dangerous because all the frozen food falls out onto your feet. It doesnt always happen but it does regularly. Just returned from a 6 week holiday to find the Fridge part is not working AT ALL and the Freezer is full of ice. So this only lasted 4 years. Totally unreliable product. Also on both the fridges the door seal of the Freezer has been "loose" and constantly fills up with ice. The only good thing was their customer service when it was under warranty, which was excellent. but I would prefer a product that was reliable. I believe this model has been discontinued but I wouldn't by another Electrolux product and am now considering cancelling the service call to repair it and putting that money towards a different brand...

Freezer door does not seal – Freezer door has never sealed properly, almost looks like the door is warped causing the inside around the door to ice up especially the front of the ice-maker, causing ice particles to fall out when opening the door. The freezer drawers are very flimsy – Within the first year of this fridge's life, the freezer drawers came unhinged and fell out. One has been replaced and the other has since fallen apart and it is now out of warranty. I should note my parents have two of this same model on their kitchen and have not experienced the same problem. Obviously there are just some lemons in this model. But I expect a lot more after splashing out to buy a quality brand like Electrolux.

Very happy with it – Does its job well. No complaints. Owned since Jun 2016 since old Westinghouse 2 door was too wide to fit. Won' t last long, and ripped off customer service – We purchased the unit on May 2011, three months later the inside light was gone. came the very busy guy, he said he has 12 jobs scheduled for that Saturday. After spend maxium 5 minutes checking it, he said there is blockage inside those tubes and he cannot repair it onsite, I need pay another $120 for them to transport it to workshop then pay $400 to fix it. He also revealed that every fridge nowadays is designed to last five years or so, even I fixed current issue, other issues may come. In a nutshell as far as I - the customer concerned, the fridge is dead.

I paid $185 then the guy left after stay in our home for 10 minutes and rush for the next job. 12 jobs that day means he cannot stay long in any customer site. It is in his best interest to declare the fridge is unrepairable or not worth repair, or he might be just honest.

I will never know the fridge can be fixed within reasonable amount or not, because I decide to move on. And I will never buy another product from Electrolux or Westing house or whatever brand the group own.

phone customer service any they will give you a new one if you tell them the problem,I even phoned him up soon after he left to come back to take another listen, off course no answer. I called customer service they said he done a"diagnostic check" which revealed nothing, what a lie, all he did was use the internet to see if there was any similar issues for the same model which he said there was not, I showed him this website and he was lost for words. Two possible outcomes,1. The fridge should sound like this then in my opinion it should not be on the market,2. A long struggle to get any sort of service from Electrolux.

Electrolux learn from your competitors in how to deal with your customers or you will not have any left, my advice buy from an Asian company who will rectify immediately and not worry about $150 call out charge.

Sometimes you just absolutely regret some decisions in life – This fridge is the most noisiest appliance in our household by a long shot. Problem is... the compressor always on (80% of the time). every single morning. The fridge is not yet a year old and from day one it has been extremely annoying.

Cannot watch TV, nor read a book in the same room. The bedroom the doors must be closed otherwise you can hear it. That constant whine.

Aboslutely worst fridge I have ever owned (due to the noise).

Electrolux, will you help? Willing to upgrade it and PAY for the upgrade if you can guarantee the replacement fridge won't be as loud. I cannot sell it, as it's too loud. Fridge is still only eight (8) months old.

Good looking fridge – This is a good looking fridge, fills our spot and is way more energy efficient than the old one it replaced. idea but it reduces the supporting weight the shelf can handle, I have made two supports from PVC pipe that fixed that problem.

Secondly the fridge door cannot hold the weight of the contents and all the bottles clash when opening and closing. Thirdly it retains food smell even though all food is properly sealed. with the freezer. If the the fridge door is open, you can look down and see that the closed freezer door is not sitting flush against the frame but that there's a gap of about 4mm for a length of about 34cm!!

love this fridge – The size of the fridge is great for our family, it is very quiet and easy to clean. But, the light switch keeps sticking and whenever we open the fridge, the light doesn't come on. We have to manually unstick the light switch to bring the light on. It is starting to get very annoying. I don't know what can be done to fix it!!

(!). After paying north of $1500 for a super-noisy fridge we have to pay for a technician. This is not acceptable - it is quite clear that Electrolux know that this is a problem with the many unfavourable reviews on just this site. I wish we had done more research. If you have a small apartment / house or your kitchen is near your living area or bedroom - do not buy this fridge.

Its a Cracker!! – Love the 3 seperate ice trays. The freezer below with the draws is so easy. Everything is so cold in the fridge and its quiet. Im stoked with this beauty! I would recommend this fridge to anyone, I first saw one at a mates place and loved it. I even had my kitchen designed around the size of this fridge.

Love this fridge, works well and looks great! – Love the look of the fridge, got stainless steel easy to clean. I love the ice bucket and trays in this very easy to use. Freezer has 2 big drawers and one small. Fridge area is big with large wide shelves in door. Crisper has two drawers that are big enough to hold lots. Also two separate chiller drawers and one of shelves can fold to half which is great!

fridges for 15 years and had never had a complaint about noise. After 30minutes there was NO noise issue. We don't understand why people would say there was?.We decided to buy it. We have been running the fridge now for two weeks and no sign of it being noisy. Weather has been very hot and very humid and the fridge is full of food for Xmas. We love this Electrolux 510 bottom freezer. Have had 8 fridges so far in my life and we have absolutely no complaints about the Electrolux other than the fridge light is poorly positioned. It is a little dark inside.
