Here we go again! – I’m usually inclined to trust the value of a brand by the service you receive. This is the 2nd Electrolux dryer I’ve had that is lucky to last the warranty. This time I purchased extended cover for replacement to last 5years. Guess what, 5years/2 months and the main board/on/off switch has blown. After many repairs under manufacture warranty I’m… Read more
reluctant to buy this brand again. Albeit the service was good from the brand Just unfortunate things are built for a certain amount of cycles or use these days. FYI we also have gone through two washing machines under the same brand.
Not very happy buying dryer and washing machines every couple of years.
Not long lasting – My Wife & I bought this dryer to dry towels and sheets, there are only 2 of us in the house so the dryer has very little use. Recently it has been making very loud noises when tumbling anticlockwise but ok clockwise, so noisy it can be heard at other end of the house. We rang Electrolux who said out of warranty, we can of course charge you for a… Read more
tech to visit, I mentioned applied warranty and believe you really should get at least 5 years out of a dryer, she argued that they don't know how much it has been used and you should expect wear & tear. We know how this has been used and in our opinion it has represented absolutely terrible value for money.
Didn't even last 3 years!! – We bought this when we renovated the laundry, though with little reviews around we simply trusted the brand. Move forward 3 years and we have since found the whole circuit board has died meaning that for the cost of the repairs we will now consider buying a replacement machine as next best option. Looking at options I reviewed the soon to be… Read more
discontinued Electrolux 6kg Smart Dryer EDV605HQWA and sadly it has had so many poor "1 star" reviews that I find it hard to return to this brand!
Our machine has been vented externally so minimal condensation and usage has been at minimum 2 times a week.
Positive reviews
Great Dryer – This dryer is easy to use and keep clean. It has lots of different drying options that are simple to understand. I have used it for clothes, sheets and towels - no issues. Show details
Easy to fix and cheap to buy – I purchased one of these 5 years ago and it broke last year. I stripped it down and did some elimination. I thought that it might be the pcb, but to be sure, I purchased a new one. Stripped the new one and it was the pcb. It was very easy finding a pcb online and the pcb was under $150 delivered. Great having two of these dryers, just expensive to run all the time. Show details
7 years+ great service and still going strong – We bought our Electrolux time machine (605 is a discontinued model) years ago after our Ariston died. We've had it serviced once in that time after it moved house bit it has been the most reliable washing machine i've ever owned. Show details
Negative reviews
Not the best but does the job – Ample option of settings to suit most of the fussy customers, easy to use & very attractive price for an European brand. can easily mount topside down or use as it is, I found bit slow in drying process, if you use clothes straight out from washer to dryer, this will increase running cost as it take pretty considerable time to fully dry not so wet cloths. Terrible - Does not turn on and barely 4 years old – I purchased this dryer in 2015. It worked well until over the weekend. I tried to turn the machine on and there is absolutely no power to the dryer. I tried plugging it into other powerpoint's and still no power whilst other appliances worked as per usual when plugged into the same outlet. The machine has broken and is barely 4 years old. always looked after my appliances well and for an appliance of this type to break in such a short period of time is quite disappointing. I contacted Electrolux yesterday and was told that to assess the machine it would cost me $145 for a service call out plus parts if required. This is about a third of the cost of a brand new machine. I submitted a complaint to customer care and they called today stating that they were "happy to send out a technician at a cost of $145" to assess the machine and that they would cover the cost of any parts. I think this is completely unreasonable for a product of this age. I have seen other reviews of a similar nature to this one on this page of the machine breaking with no power to it within a life span of 4-5 years which in my opinion is completely unacceptable. There's clearly an issue with the life span of this machine. If the manufacturer believes in their product, they would send a technician out at no cost to the consumer and repair or replace the product. Electrolux Customer Service is appalling. I have submitted a complaint to Fair Trading regarding the matter.
Won't buy Electrolux again – - Drier sensor hopeless and doesn't work. Will stop and indicate it is finished, washing will be so hot it burns when touched but when it cools it isn't actually dry. - Vent cover at bottom fell off after a week and will never stay on - not broken just faulty design. - Will buy LG next time, have experience with them and they are great (especially the condenser drier.) Great for the first 2 years – Loved this dryer for the first 2 years. Then it stopped drying properly. Clothes are not quite dry at the end of the sensor cycle. Wondering why this is happening. Have looked at the manual and trouble shooting but no help. Show details

Disappointed – It seemed ok till yesterday, 9 months after the 24 month warranty ran out. from two different electricians, my mate and the one Harvey Norman recommended ,it sounds like a cement mixer now and apparently that is a bearing failure. Also getting a quote is costly so it is a throw out job. What a waste of money and another Black Mark on Harvey Norman. Changing brands and retailers. Fisher and Bagel looks good Show details

Electrolux a poor choice. Bad design, poor product, EDV605 – My family bought two EDV 605 sensor driers in March 2012 (purchase docs can be provided). Both have had problems just out of warranty/extended warranty. The first was repaired by a qualified electrician but has since failed again. The second failed in its 5th year. The service manual provides a basic check procedure. Using that and swapping… Read more
controller boards it is possible to say that one controller board has most likely fully failed, the other is at best suspect. In addition, the exhaust sensors on both appear to have failed. Motors and heaters still function on test.
It would appear that these are NOT isolated problems as this site has many questions about these problems.
When I contacted Electrolux the answer was a service call quoting:
• Standard Flat Rate - $145 including GST,
• Plus the cost of any parts required.
• Second appliance flat fee is $70.00 plus the cost of any parts required.
Bottom line - a new equivalent dryer from a reputable manufacturer would most likely cost less than repairing these two.
I would consider that devices like this should last and operate properly for more than 5 years.
To get at the exhaust sensor it is necessary to almost completely dismantle the machine - a big job to replace an essential failure prone part. At least the controller board is reasonably accessible!
good but hard to clean - lasted 7 years 1 day – a review 7 years in the making. not much people will review after so long ? hard to clean totally, works 99% with extra dry. a bit noisy and chew quite some electricity. some will last 10 plus years but I also use extra dry so 7 years and 1 day later poof of smoke .. now going for the edv 6552 model Show details

Awesome – I bought one of these while living in Tasmania, a required product for that state. I have since moved home to WA, while not a necessary item to own over here, it comes in handy for those winter days, more so since I am currently in a Rental, and they don't have a Hills Hoist, but a clothes line that hangs off the house. As my bed linen in all… Read more
King Size with not enough line space I will usually tumble dry my doona cover, and hang the sheets outside.
The best feature of this item is the sensor dry, so I'm not wasting money electricity on a time cycle.
I Love This Dryer! – I've had this dryer for a while now and it has been brilliant. It has been used extensively when my daughter was a newborn. It is fairly quiet and strangely helps my daughter fall asleep when on. There are different settings that you can use to suit your drying needs. It takes about 1-1.5 hrs to dry a load of laundry and it even reminds you to clean out the lint filter. Show details
28 months old and faulty and I have to pay to get fixed – I purchased this dryer through The Good Guys and fair to say it gets used approximately 1x week - last night it started making a clunking noise and I've been told I have to pay to have someone come out to fix this --- Totally unacceptable that a $470 machine lasts 28 months before becoming faulty. Will never buy Electrolux again ... My previous Simpson dryer lasted 12 years before have an issue Show details

Just What I Need – Been using this for 3.5 years already & I am happy with my purchase. Energy efficient and has a sensor. Our clothes dry well, even the winter jackets. We also have an electrolux front loader which is equally satisfying to use. I am happy with all of my Electrolux appliances. Show details
Dries clothes, but the drying auto sensor always leaves clothes damp – I purchased this dryer from the Good Guys after my 17 year old Fisher and Paykal dryer finally stopped working. I already have an Electrolux Front Loader washing machine and really like it, so I thought I would give the dryer a go. It dries the clothes fine as long as you select the correct drying period. If I opt for the sensor drying mode, my… Read more
clothes, sheets, towels are still damp in spots and I have to put the dryer back on. This is only complaint about the dryer, I feel that it is fairly significant, if you simply want to, 'set and forget' and come back to damp clothing.
I find this particularly annoying in the middle of winter when my kids are sick/vomiting and need constant sheets/towels/PJs washed repeatedly throughout the day. It is for this reason, I would not purchase this product again or recommend it. I am actually looking to sell it and buy another Fisher and Paykal. Very disappointing indeed.
Noisier than expected – Not much on offer that could be wall mounted but this one can be. This model is much larger than our previous dryer in width and height. Reaching to the back of the drum is difficult when wall mounted which is our only option due to lack of space. Control panel is pretty simple once used a few times. We were told this model had a sensor to detect… Read more
when clothes are dry but I find it goes on for a long time with out setting a time. Biggest downside is the noise. Very loud compared to our old model. Otherwise does the job it’s meant to.
Excellent! 5 stars – Other than a two star energy rating I can't fault this machine. I put my clothes in, it's starts and has a sensor to tell it when to stop. Too easy. Sometimes bigger stuff like multiple sheets can be a bit damp feeling in the centre, but if you separate them a bit you can chuck them back in to finish. It's large capacity means I can fit bedding in there with ease. Filter is easy to clean. Recommend. Show details
Fantastic for our needs – We purchased this dryer after renovating our laundry and needing a dryer to replace one we'd had for over thirty years, that would wall mount, dry well and be as efficient as possible with power, while not costing the earth. The Electrolux met all our requirements and more. The EDV6051 is a great machine for a reasonable price. Show details
WOW! – This dryer was compact enough to fit in our confined dryer space, but that didn't mean it wasn't loaded with features! Superb features including auto dry and super quick and efficient drying. Best dryer we've ever had by far! Highly recommend this dryer, you'll be very happy! Replaced our F&P dryer. Show details

Worst dryer ever! – Bought this dryer in August 2015. Worked fantastically well until the 2 year warranty ran out. It stopped drying so I went online to find out why it was stuck on on cool. I found numerous amounts of people experiencing the same issue. I also found an article by the daily telegraph titled Electrolux EDV505 and EDV605 are the worst dryers in… Read more
Australia. I read the article and it seems there is an issue with these models breaking down as soon as the 2 year warranty ends. I went into Goodguys to ask about buying a new dryer as opposed to paying the $145 call out fee and the salesman told me to call Electrolux and see if they will look after me as it was only September 2017, 30 days after the warranty ended. I called Electrolux and they told me exactly what I had read had happened to other people; that I needed to pay a $145 call out fee and that was just to get the technician here to diagnose the problem when the dryer cost $510. There is no recall on this product. I won't be buying this again. I'll invest in something better quality. A big waste of money.

Awesome! – I bought this to go with the Electrolux front loading washer as a matching stack, and it is by far the best dryer I have ever owned! The drying sensors are fantastic (unlike my old F & P dryer) and I have never had to adjust the cycle in any way. No over-cooking your clothes or leaving things still damp! It holds a massive amount of clothes, and… Read more
is very thorough but gentle. The crease free option is brilliant, although even without it, I have found very little that needs to be ironed (which is a huge bonus!) It is quiet, fast and generally an all-round great value for money appliance. We are very happy with it.
Great product – This model is a sensor dryer so it sensors when your clothes are dry. Also has a clean filter button to remind you to clean the filter, it has a crease free option that will keep spinning the clothes so it doesn't crease. The only problem I did find it was a little noisy, compared to my last Electrolux of the same model which did not have a… Read more
noise. There is an option of a delay drying either 9 hours 6 hours or 3 hours. You can also make use of the child lock, and you can turn the sound on and off. This model plays a tune when it is finished and gives you a reminder signal if you haven't taken a closed out straight away. It has an energy star rating of 2. Drys your clothes nicely.
Makes me happy – Had to replace very old dryer and wow! this one is able to tell when washing is dry unlike my old one which could only be set to a time. It has reverse tumbling so things don't get all knotted up, so a big improvement on my old dryer. Also for a dryer it is reasonably quiet. Have only had it about 2 months but so far its been great! It has a whole… Read more
lot of settings many of them I may never use but was still comparably priced with some dryers which only had very basic settings. At this stage I can't fault it
Great so far....purchased last year and took extended warranty just in case – Not sure how long exactly we have owned this dryer I think around 18 months and so far so good! It is nice looking, sits on a special rubber mat to protect the washing machine below (on which it sits to save space). When we move to our new house we hope to wall mount or have sitting under a bench (side by side) probably better that way. Had… Read more
trouble initially with condensation, turned out we had the vent turned the wrong way around - problem solved easily. Happy with the drying time and capacity but we don't use it all the time much prefer to line dry where possible, live in a house not a unit and we don't have a large family. We do have two small dogs and I'm very happy with the fluff that it filters out of our wash and clean the filter each time I use it so it doesn't get clogged.
The best dryer – I love my new dryer it works so efficiently and is pleasantly quiet. Seems to be quite energy efficient and also delivers clothes that require no ironing. For the reasonable price point on this particular white good, it is very good value for money and a valuable tool in a busy household such as ours. Show details
This dryer is good but a bit noisy – This dryer is efficient and dries clothes pretty well, although I often put it on twice for really wet clothes. I find it a bit noisy compared with our old dryer. The settings are a bit confusing, I tend to just use the same one all the time, the normal dry although it has time settings etc. Show details
Excellent Customer Service – My Electrolux dryer had been working like a dream for 2/12 years when suddenly the appliance had no power. their products as the dryer was a dream until the breakdown and this was attended to quickly and efficiently. I would buy Electrolux in preference to other brands simply based on their excellent follow up service if a problem arises. Thank you so much Marina. Much appreciated
here we go again – I had the predecessor 605, which had 2 capacitors, one belt, one idler and one bearing go belly up over 5 years. The only reason why I put my money through the ringer again....the dryer was on special and the backup service agreement was reasonable. The new unit works well and is basically the same as the 605 unit. seems to dry a bit better, controls are similar....but I would like to know how much time is left on the drying cycle. Show details
Electrolux misrepresents information and turns a blind eye – Beware of Electrolux products - the company has published misleading information in the user manual regarding this product, admits to fault, but does nothing to rectify. The external venting kit is an optional extra - I purchased what I thought was a compliant venting kit according to the supplied user manual. It was online rather than in person,… Read more
which Electrolux used as the excuse not to exchange, despite being from a preferred supplier as listed on their website. The customer service rep acknowledged the error, spoke to their supervisor and offered a 10% discount on the correct kit. No refund or exchange for the incorrect kit.
The dryer itself is ok, although lint build up significantly impedes performance (drying takes longer and consumes more power).
Too many buttons – It's way to complicated for a dryer. A dryer shouldn't need so many adjustable settings. It should just dry clothes. On the up side, it holds a lot of clothes and on a normal dry setting, it dries then very well. I don't see the point of air dry. Good value for money. Show details
Best dryer of the 3 we've owned – The best option on this is the sensor dry - not sure how it works but leaves the clothes not bone dry - so ironing isn't a chore. Really only use it once or twice a month living in Brisbane. But worth the small investment. The 6.5 kg option is perfect for a family of 4. Show details
Easy to use and perfect for a growing family – We purchased this dryer to replace our old Westinghouse one when our baby was a few weeks old. It has a very similar control panel to our old one, so it made it perfect for us as it operates the same way, but with a few extra features. Easy to use, works perfect every time, and the clothes are always dry and crease free. We can't fault this dryer, and we purchased the extended warranty for extra peace of mind. Show details
