I have an EDV5552 5.5kg Electrolux dryer. We too have what seems to be a common fault, the dryer stops after only a few minutes with the lint filter light on, When you take out the lint filter to check it there is always next to nothing in there, clean it and replace it and you get a few minutes more. We have put up with it since new (around three years) but it’s getting worse and running for less and less time. I called Electrolux today who did not admit that there is a fault with this model, the lady at Electrolux said it only has a two year warranty and that we would be charged for a callout and any repairs! Under the current consumer laws I am pretty sure that any product has to be good for a reasonable time commensurate with it’s original cost? Our daughters friend had the same machine with the same issue, and when I google the model number it seems that this is quite common? What do I have to do to get Electrolux to admit the fault is a known issue and just fix it?
What did ACCC etc tell you ?
Hi Our Dryer is making a grinding sound when it starts and then when it reverses it grinds again. Is there a easy fix?
Why does my 6 kg Electrolux dryer keep cutting out after a few minutes
My dryer keeps turning off after a few seconds. It’s only a few years old! Has anyone had any luck with what appears to be a common issue? The filter is clean and I’ve tried turning it on and off. Thanks
Hi My dryer is now tripping the power and cutting out after 5 mins. It appears that every time it stops to check the sensor it is cutting out blowing the power board. Or, it stops and beeps in the on sequence a few times. Any suggestions as to what the issue is please ? Thanks
Basic items first 1.) Power it off at the power point allow a couple of minutes then start up again. 2.) Check the filters to make sure they're clean. 3.) Sometimes, if the heating element fails, it shorts out against the heater housing, causing the dryer to trip the circuit breaker. You will need to log a service call. Obtain quote before repairs and Electrolux provide additional warranty on the part if you choose to go that path.
Call electrolux 131349 - open on weekends :)
I am'renting a appartment and i just use this model to dry my chlothes. How can i open the door? I can not unlock the safety door buttom
I have an EDV605 which dry's the contents as intended. The problem is that the tumble direction doesn't reverse. The system pauses as intended but then continues to rotate in the same direction ie anti clockwise. The motor capacitor has been replaced with no improvement so I'm left with possibly a problem control board which are an expensive supply and install. Any confirmation of this diagnosis or suggestions. Last resort is to leave as is because it still performs or buy a new dryer, and I'm a tight wad???
My dryer keeps turning itself off after a few minutes use, obviously the clothes are still wet.
It sounds like this might be a common issue, is there something I can do myself to rectify?

We have an Electolux ED 5051 which has been great to date. The problem we have is thT the latch for the door has broken as this part is very flimsy. I have been online and they are quoting $30 for the supply of this part which really is a design flaw of the door given its regular use. Can you please help
My dry cuts out after a few minutes of use?
Hi, my drier is about 2.5 years old. It dries fine but it’s gotten quite loud. It’s like the belts or mechanism that rotates the dum is working too hard. Having said that, it’s no more difficult to turn the drum manually then the day I bought it. It’s just louder and whatever is causing this also creates vibration through the unit housing.
While it’s pretty consistantly loud every once in a while the sound drops back to normal. It always starts load and stays loud 90% of it’s running time but now and again the noise level will drop.
Is this a common problem? Is there anyway to correct this? I don’t believe it’s still under warranty.
Is there anything I can check mechanically?

My Dryer keeps switching off and on again up to 3 times in 10 seconds. Sometimes it will switch off and come back on 10 mins later. This issue can happen on any setting even when it is on 3,6 or 9hr delay and hasn't even started drying yet. Any ideas?

My dryer, EDV6051, trips the power in the house. Please help.
Call an electrician. The dryer is either short circuiting, or its pulling too many amps for your home wiring to cope with.
hi sam, its come back from an electrician and has tripped once- he fixed the fan but now i'm not so sure. thanks for the reply
I have an Electrolux EDV6051 its 2 1/2 years old. Has been working perfectly. Just went to put a load in & the power button won't turn on. Any ideas??? Surely it would last longer than that.
Hi, I have the exact same problem. Have you managed to fix it ?
No I haven't I didn't want to risk wasting approx $150 on a service fee for someone to look at it & then pay for repairs on top off that or to tell me it's not fixable. I had a friend look at it said it was stuffed. I will never buy Electrolux again. I have never had a dryer only lasting 2 1/2 years !!!
Mine has just stopped too within 3 years. Changed plug position and same issue.not happy Electrolux!
Mine has been working wonderfully but now when reverse tumbling has become very noisy and load . Any ideas?
If it's under warranty (2 years) call Electrolux. external link I'd call Electrolux first even if out of warranty.
Hi guys, my EDV6051 has just hit 12 months old now is making a horrible clunking noise. Is this an easy fix or should I call someone out? Cheers!
It should have a 2 year domestic warranty - so if there's nothing put in there that might be making the noise, call Electrolux Home Products on 131 349 or check support options external link
Is there a way to diagnose the 6051 I put a load of clothes in it and when I came back they were wet still tried to restart it but won't power up have checked the cord and power point and these are not the issue thanks
Ive had mine checked by an electrician. There is power going into the unit, but it looks like it is the sensor panel that is the problem. Still no answer from Electrolux re this issue.
