Electrolux EDV5552 / EDV6552 Questions & Answers
VerifiedHi I have a 5.5 kg Electrolux dryer and it stopped heating..? Thanks
I am having trouble replacing the door hinge on my Electrolux. I can’t remove the broken hinge as I can’t seem to separate the clear plastic from the white plastic on the door. Can someone please help I have ordered a new hinge and have it here ready I just can’t seem to get in to be able to replace it.
We had had our dryer almost 5 years. For the last probably over 2 years it over heats no matter what setting it is on & then the timer stopped working. Now it is over heating as soon as it goes on. Not very happy that a 3 year old washer at the time was having such issues, especially with minimal use in that time. I have persisted with keeping a careful eye over it when I have used it but now am over it. Very unimpressed with this unit
Can the exhaust vent on my edv5552 dryer be changed to rear vent?I want to install a through-the-wall vent pipe.
What is year of manufacture
Just tried using the drier.Runs for about 1 minute.Stops with the end light on and keeps beeping.Any ideas.Only about 4 months out of warranty go figure.

Can I mount a new Simpson dryer on the old Simpson wall mount brackets?
Only if they are the right size to fit your dryer properly.
I really want to know if they have changed the standard sizing for the bracket
Why avoid contacting the company directly for an immediate answer?
I have an EDV5552 5.5kg Electrolux dryer. We too have what seems to be a common fault, the dryer stops after only a few minutes with the lint filter light on, When you take out the lint filter to check it there is always next to nothing in there, clean it and replace it and you get a few minutes more. We have put up with it since new (around three years) but it’s getting worse and running for less and less time. I called Electrolux today who did not admit that there is a fault with this model, the lady at Electrolux said it only has a two year warranty and that we would be charged for a callout and any repairs! Under the current consumer laws I am pretty sure that any product has to be good for a reasonable time commensurate with it’s original cost? Our daughters friend had the same machine with the same issue, and when I google the model number it seems that this is quite common? What do I have to do to get Electrolux to admit the fault is a known issue and just fix it?
Hi, does anyone know how to reset the EDV5552 dryer? Thank you
I have a ELECTROLUX SENSORDRY EDV5552 and I broke the plastic lid on the door I have the replacement for it but I can’t seem to pop the plastic bit off the door frame is there a trick to it ???
Can the door be reversed on this model e.g.. opening from left to right ?
Is there any way to disable the lint filter sensor? It stops after 10 mins or so saying to clean the filter, but there is hardly anything in it. Drives me nuts.
I'm not sure why it says so. All I can say is I shall NEVER ever buy this brand again! The auto sensor is faulty and have always bought FP brand with great satisfaction... My experience with this brand is the worst!
Hi I purchase this dryer coming up to two years it’s not working well when I use it it starts to warm up not hot but warm but then about halfway through its starts to to turn cool and not dryer the clothes I had it in for repairs but it’s still doing the same thing
Where can I purchase this dryer
I have the EDV6552, the power button works, the lights are all on so I know there is power to it, but all the push button controls for temp, time, start/stop etc do not work at all. The weird thing is, when I want to enable the child lock or anti-crease, the two buttons that I have to hold down to enable the functions, do work, but only to enable these two functions. Please advise?
I suggest that you call for a repair technician to take a look. They may need to replace the main PCB, or something like that. It is unlikely that it's something that you can fix yourself.
Hey Toni, can you please share how you resolved the matter? I have the exact same problem.
Update. called Electrolux support. Completely useless and to send over a technician will cost 150 + parts. The unit itself is not worth that much when it was working...which I just fixed. The "FIX" is well, opening the control box (one screw on either side) and taking everything apart except the cables coming from the internal unit. Realising nothing I can do but massage the connectors and components, put it back together. To my surprise, it is working again! Did something come loose...maybe?
I take it back, the problem is back again...
The cotton-like substance inside the filter is called the lint. Is this meant to be removed and disposed off or left to be part of the plastic holder ?
Victor, you're meant to empty the filter (remove and dispose of the lint) after each cycle.
I have the EDV5552 5.5KG DRYER and have wall mounted my dryer and wanted to know if the filter needs to moved to the bottom to catch the lint or dirt. Or does it stay where it is. Thank you
Hello. We've got the EDV5552 dryer. It is stuck on the 90 minute cycle and I can't seem to change it. Any help appreciated. Thanks.
Try turning the dial to off then try turning it back up again that should reset it or try turning it off and back on
Thanks, Alayne. Have already done the turning off and on again and unplugging from the wall, to no avail. This machine doesn't have a dial, just buttons.
Hi Regan, did you have to junk the unit or tried getting it repaired? The control unit costs $150
Is this the 5.5kg model stackable? As in able to be placed on top of a front load washing machine?
Where is the vent?
