Had a Volta for over 20 years and when this died i decided to retry the Electrolux brand with their 500 Series Bagless Vacuum. After 3 months of normal use the vacuum was overheating and cut out. I took the unit to a service centre and after 2 weeks had to keep phoning them for a return date. They then rang back and said the filter is blocked and it is not covered under warranty, this is despite my cleaning of the filter after each use. The filter replacement is $50 which i am not going to do each 3 months so i will cut my losses and will take it to the tip. When i complained to the Electrolux help centre they just sent me an email with a bunch of motherhood statements in it. I am never touching another Electrolux product again.

Really impressed with this vacuum cleaner. First the suction is amazing, I only use 1/3-1/2 power, full power is too much and difficult to move the wand. The unit is compact and easy to move around the home, I like that the wheels do not get caught on edges of furniture or walls. The power cord is more than sufficient for my needs, and the retraction is easy to use with your foot and fast and secure. The metal wand is great, feels sturdy and robust, I like that the hose handle and wand lock into place, unlike cheaper brands that need to be aligned straight each time you take the hose off the wand. I have two autistic so sons who hate the noise of previous vacuum cleaners. Not this one, it is so quiet at only 1/2 power i can vacuum in the morning without waking them. Finally the dust bin. Super easy to empty, I’ve used it three times for the whole house and it’s only 1/2 full. Comes with handy attachments and storage is simple taking up less than 1 metre tall x 40cm wide, so fits easily into a broom cupboard. Really satisfied with this, well done Electrolux.
