Decent cooktop but Electrolux has very good service – Last year (2022), while building our home, we selected a 9000mm Westinghouse 5 burner gas cooktop for our kitchen. However, the Westinghouse cooktop was being recalled for faulty issues, so our builder substituted our preferred model with an Electrolux 900 5 burner gas cooktop, product code EHG955BE, which boasts slightly superior specifications to the Westinghouse model we had initially chosen.

I am fond of this stove for its numerous features. First and foremost is the clean design, it's aesthetically appealing. Secondly, being Asian, I frequently prepare stir-fries and noodle dishes with soup, so the large standalone cooktop is ideal for these meals. I appreciate that it is a standalone hob with three rings of flame, allowing for multiple heat levels. My wok is quite large since I often cook in bulk, and I need to use a VERY large pot when making broths for my noodle dishes, the extra space of this stove from the other allows the placement of a large work or pot without invading any pot space of the neighboring stoves. What I also like about this standalone stove is that for stir-fry dishes and noodle soups is that I require a very powerful flame to quickly bring the broth to a high temperature. This intense heat is also essential for creating good stir-fries. However, once the broth reaches boiling point, I need a lower heat to simmer, and the smallest flame ring is perfect for this, without me having to move the pot full of soup over to the smallest hob to simmer.

Another aspect I value is the glass cooktop. I specifically chose a cooktop with a glass bench for the ease of cleaning- grease doesn't adhere tightly to the surface. Another feature that I like about this cooktop is that the hobs are designed to be easily removed for cleaning and just as easily replaced.

I would give it one star less because, after eight months of use, one of the stove's spark plugs failed, preventing us from turning it on. Nevertheless, Electrolux's customer service impressed me with their promptness in arranging for a technician to repair the issue at our home.

I had to contact customer service again when I noticed that the knob for the same burner with the faulty spark plug was loose. Electrolux once again promptly arranged for the same technician to address the problem, suggesting that he would remember his previous work in case something was amiss. It turned out to be a common issue where the ring that should be on the male part of the connection point had become lodged in the female part.

Performs well as a cooktop but a nightmare to clean! – The cooktop performs well and it looks good but the cleaning of the glass is something else...I have attempted to use all manner of materials to achieve a clear result but it remains smuged most of the time. A good appliance but is let down by poor quality glass...
