Used Twice and would definitely use again – We have used Steve twice now and are very impressed, he is knowledgeable, professional, a great communicator and does a great job at a very reasonable price. Our last job was a complete kitchen Reno in our 130 year old federation house, not an easy job, the result is fantastic, done on budget and on time. We’re very happy with the work. Will definitely use Steve again.

Be aware - unprofessional and inexperienced builder – After posting our review, it appears this builder has now changed his business name. Be aware before engaging with this builder. We began the renovation in May 2020 and it is still ongoing. The contract was with Steve's Constructions and Renovations. The name has now changed to Elira Constructions and he is not allowing reviews on his page. We began this renovation in May 2020 when we were 5 months pregnant after researching and interviewing dozens of building companies. [Name Removed] presented professionally and had some great ideas and solutions to our extensive renovation. We provided our own items for most of the renovation and it was agreed to that Steve’s Constructions and Renovations would manage the entire renovation, including trades except for the painter. It became clear that there was poor time management and even more disappointing was the quality of workmanship and accountability for the trades. Finally, we have reached practical completion after a year! Our baby is now 14 months old! There were over 40 defects, including a major structural defects. We have had to spend additional to get some of the work fixed and also in legal fees due to the behaviour from this company. [Name Removed] has had to be instructed twice by QBCC to complete the work to industry standard. After taking us to QCAT with false financial payments listed, [Name Removed] was also instructed that we had paid according to the contract and he needed to reach practical completion. Such a waste of time not to mention stress! Examples include; The front door was installed upside down, new walls were not straight, flooring installed poorly, and many more massive items to be redone. Disappointed is an understatement.

In hindsight, we should have cut our losses when we noticed during the renovation that things were not going well. [Name Removed] had a great way of talking his way around issues and we wish that we had someone else in to finish the job and to save us over a year of stress. There was no point in signing a contract it seems as we thought that the damages clause in the contract would cover us, however, apparently [Name Removed] feels this is not the case and the contract is no longer valid. We have written asking for an explanation but have not heard back in over 3 weeks.

If you have read this review and still want to proceed with this company, we suggest employing a foreman to ensure accountability throughout the build.
