Highly recommend for summer nights – Our baby boy won't sleep without being swaddled. This is perfect for those hot summer nights when other swaddles are too hot. Keeps him cool and secure. His feet do pop out the bottom often but this doesn't bother me due to the heat. He's only ever been able to get his fingers out the top and he is a Houdini. Very good swaddle.
Love it but may not suit every baby – My baby and I love this product, it was like putting her into a comfy light weight sock to sleep (she was a summer baby). Lots of other swaddles were either too warm or would come undone or she herself didn't feel nice and secure enough perhaps. My sister and her boy loved it first and we scored the hand me down. I've just been trying to… Read more
source a new one for impending baby number two and was surprised by negative reviews on here. However, I fully appreciate babies are all different, some move more than others, some like arms to move more than others, some wriggle, etc. so unfortunately there are going to be products you acquire and then don't use eg some babies love a sling, some hate them. So I recommend just buy one, try it out, see if it works for your baby, or better still, hunt for second hand.
Wish I'd found it sooner! – Was given an Ergococoon as a present for our nearly 6 week old baby and it is the best swaddle for him by far! Material is beautifully soft and light which has helped dramatically improve his little sweat rashes. The fold in the swaddle at the feet allows me to change his nappy without him becoming distressed and the snap closures at the head… Read more
opening don't allow the swaddle to ride up giving me peace of mind that bub is safe.
Just wish I hadn't spent money on other swaddles before finding this one!
Dangerous – I wish I had read the reviews before purchasing this swaddle. Despite using the correct sized swaddle, my daughter's feet came through the opening at the bottom of the swaddle and wriggled down resulting in the swaddle going up over her face. I will not be using this product again, nor do I feel comfortable re-selling it, or recommending it to others. Try a different swaddle!
Dangerous – After the struggle to get it on my daughter, within 10 minutes her feet had escaped and it had rolled up around her neck!!! Material is too stretchy to be of any use. I would not put my precious baby to sleep in one of these things unless I wanted to be awake watching her every single second so she didn't injure herself or worse. After saying… Read more
that, I do prefer the zip front swaddle sleep bags made by the same company. I will stick with them, though they have some minor design flaws also,
Feels great but compleatly useless! – Fabric feels amazing, nice soft and airy... However, it's designed to be rolled up the body from feet to head, this is hard engh with a wiggly 4 month old. Doing the snaps up is also difficult. I bought this so I could SLEEP without having to re wrap Houdini hands multiple times a night, but bub has so much stretchy room to move that he just… Read more
easily slipped a hand out the top and woke himself up scratching his face. I thought it might have been a one off, put his hand back down and re adjusted it, was shortly after woken by him after he freed an entire arm this time! Compleatly useless!
Very poor design – I tried to put this on my two week old and struggled putting it over his head - it was way too tight and bub got very upset doing it. I bought it initially because it appeared that bub would have more freedom to move arms into a position he wanted (he loves having his arms up) and also because we live in north qld the material was light enough to… Read more
sleep in. However the cons outweighed the pros and I took it back finding another style that he loves and much easier to use. Light weight material and price Style is very poor - too hard to put on, would rather it be a zip up!
Great for Eczema – At four months my baby had bad eczema. We had trouble keeping a swaddle on him that did not overheat him and could contain him. He still had the startle reflex (and not yet rolling), and hated swaddling - could break out of any swaddle I tried. Previously I was swaddling with muslin cloths to prevent overheating. I've also tried a few other… Read more
commercial products. This product ErgoCoccoon AIR was the perfect solution. He sleeps with just his nappy on within the coccoon, sometimes with a singlet also, our room temperature at night is 18-20 celsius and we have a fan blowing across the room - this helps him sleep with the eczema as he is a HOT baby. This may sound too cool for most babies, but for hot eczema baby it's the perfect balance. It is tight enough to contain his startle reflex, yet stretchy and comfortable enough to allow him to comfort suck his hands through the fabric. comfortable, good for hot baby with eczema
Disappointed – I love ergo cocoons, although the fabric is divine it is really hard to put on and my daughter keeps wriggling her feet out. Can't put it on without waking her and feel like im squishing her when im trying to put it on. Have ordered another brand with lite material and zip. Material Design is horrible. Really hard to get on. Feet can get out of bottom
Which brand was it that you bought the light material and zip swaddle/cocoon from?
Love – I love this wrap. its so thin, almost like my 3month only has a nappy on. Great for hot towns. Easy to put on and take off. Great price and its sooooo soft. Stops my little girl from getting her hands out. Im about to jump on ebay and buy another 3.
Lovely fabric but poor design! – I have been using the ergo baby swaddles on my baby girl for the last 8 months and with summer approaching it was time to get her a lighter version. I was so excited to see they had a new version which used a super light, breathable fabric so I quickly ordered two. I had my hopes up very high! When it arrived I could see and feel how lovely… Read more
the bamboo fabric was and couldn't wait to try it out. Ok, so my little girl is a wriggler so getting her into a swaddle had never been easy but she can't sleep without it. I followed the instruction and put it on her from her feet and pulled it up (it has no zip). I held her arms down and pulled it up over her arms, all the while she is wriggling around. Next I had to do up these two snap buttons at the neck hole otherwise she easily popped her arms out. This bit was hard. The snap buttons are tiny and fiddly and my daughter got very frustrated with me trying to fiddle around and snap the buttons. Finally got those done. It was a hot day so I had her just in a nappy, she was kicking her legs around but her bare feet didn't slide easily on the fabric so she kept getting stuck with her feet up unable to slide her legs back down to the bottom of the bag. The fabric like wasn't slippery, for lack of a better word, so I, from the outside of the bag, had to try and manouveur her legs and feet back to the bottom of the bag while she is wriggling only for them to back at the top again in a few minutes! Very frustrating.
Also, after a few wears, a hole has appeared in the fabric where the snap button is. Not happy.
I had high hopes for this product but it failed to live up to my expectations. The ergo baby swaddle original is excellent but the air is flimsy and design has not been well thought through. Nice feeling light fabric Flimsy, poor design, fiddly annoying snap buttons
It works for me! – My two and a half month daughter is not a big napper and it may take a while to settle her for a good sleep at night. We have always used the square muslin wraps but after she pretty much unwrapped herself several times, I looked on the net and found this product and decided to give it a go. The first night I used it on my daughter, she pretty… Read more
much self settled in no more than 15 minutes and fell asleep - amazing! Before ordering I was concerned about the thickness of the fabric as we live in the tropics, but the ErgoCocoon is really thin and breathable, perfect for this weather. It keeps my daughter well wrapped and snug without being too tight. Fabric is stretchy, good for sensitive skin as no nasty chemicals were used on it and light. Also it's really easy to change the nappy as it is open at the bottom and it has a 50 SPF. Fantastic! Natural, light and breathable fabric, great for hot weather, easy to wear, settles baby fast, not so expensive
