Quality Products & Fruitfull Service – I purchased a Yamaha A-2080 a few months back for my surround sound system. It worked like a charm with no hastle whatsover. Was like it was brand new , not a dint or mark in sight. As I wanted to upgrade and improve my home theater system, I decided to look at getting a better receiver. Luckily for me , the Yamaha A3080 became available in stock.… Read more
So I thought let's see if theirs really a difference between the two. Is it apples and apples or apples and oranges? I found BIG differences with its improved ESSA9026 DAC , especially when listening via headphones or playing DSD Files from a SACD. It just sounds loads better than the A2080, more details. It is also more powerful too which is also a bonus ( if running 2 channels). Whilst the A3080 had a small scratch on the front panel, it is fully functional, versatile and a tank of a unit. I will be retiring from buying any more audio gear , but if a yamaha SACD player is sold at a price that I cant refuse , you know where I am ! As per other reviews, it's very good value for what you pay for. I actually find the service good because they are not over the top or sugar coating , they are an authorized Yamaha dealer selling refurbished goods , so obviously they would be extremely busy and have lots of KPIs etc to meet from the client. My only suggestion is that if a high range product ie SACD player or reciever becomes available, they should post it on Ebay also , and for existing customers to be kept in the loop of updates , their should be a email subscription service etc to keep me posted of any updates. I pray to the heavens that the yamaha CD-S2100 becomes available at an elite price. Time will tell. Another regret is in summary I wish I purchased the Yamaha flagship speakers they had available arround for 5k ( Yamaha NS-F901 SPEAKERS). I do believe with my elite knowledge in home theater systems that these speakers would be ideal , as I am still on the quest for better floorstanding speakers. Thank you very much and God bless. I aim to experiment with a SACD players DACS thanks to the XLR audio outs that this tank provides. I wont use it yet, as I'm happy with using a cheap crappy Sony because I can exploit the king A-3080's DAC. I recently got a pair of klipsch RF-7 iii speakers and they sound quite good with this reciever. My girlfriend is quite happy with the reciever also , and so I am , happy wife happy life am I right! Thank you excel hifi. It appears I vented too much on this review.... I just love my yamaha A-3080 so much. I hope it lasts me a lifetime.
Very swift delivery and a good price – I received a refurbished product (which I knew up front) in excellent condition. I was a little nervous seeing some of the other reviews, but wouldn’t hesitate buying from excel again. Show details
Terrible customer service – I bought some speakers from here and got a good price. However the speakers had issues from day one, and the service I received ranged from passive-aggressive to downright rude. They were eventually replaced, but I spent almost six months unable to use them. I'm usually happy to run the risk of sub-par customer service for a bargain, but I experienced far below sub-par service and I would never buy from this place again. Just not worth it.
Great service and prices – Gary at Excel HiFi provided me with fantastic, honest advice about different products and was patient and courteous. I originally wanted to purchase only a single item but walked out with a number of great Wharfedale speakers and a Yamaha subwoofer that are amazing. The best prices in Melbourne!! Thank you Excel!
Excellent and Honest customer service – I spoke with Gary who I found to be honest and offered great customer service, something that most companies lack today he even assisted me by providing ph numbers to see if I could get my receiver fixed. Needless to say I ended up looking at there items as I nearly brought from ebay so glad I didn't as I also feel like I got a bargain, something… Read more
thats very soothing after loosing so much money on another item. I recently purchased a Harmon Kardon receiver (from another company) only to have issues 3 months after warranty (which is how long they offer warranty for so dont ever buy there product) it doesn't look like I can get it repaired either to onsell, this reconditioned Onkyo comes with 3 years and If I have any issues in 3 months they will swap the item over how great is that. I will be recommending this businesses to family and friends, what a pity they dont sell Tv's.
Perfect – Two business days to deliver from Melbourne to Port Macquarie - superb. Product (1079) was in my estimation brand new and it was only the carton that was tatty. All-in-all I would rate Excel HiFi A1.
Great support!! – I brought wrong Amplifier for my Karaoke machine recently. Rang back few time try to fix the problem. They provided excellent support and offered refund in the end. Very grateful and definitely will come back if need to purchase other products...
Incorrect product information – Bought a refurbished Yamaha HTR6066 from Excel HiFi. At the time of purchase was told the unit had HTC Connect, Gapless FLAC play etc. I assumed it did because according to Excel's website the 4066 had these features. The sales person confirm the 6066 had them. They stayed open an extra 10mins to allow me to pick it up. Turns out neither the… Read more
4066 or 6066 have the required features. When I emailed Excel to point this out they didn't respond, just quietly corrected their website.
6066 is still a good AVR, but their customer service is hit and miss.
Great support – I am the first to admit that I am not very tech savvy at all. After recently moving into a new house I wanted a new home theatre set up. Not knowing where to start I contacted excel (on multiple occasions) to discuss what I might need. They were so helpful in getting a pack together for me with everything I needed - receiver, speakers, sub etc.… Read more
Once goods were received I even needed to contact them to help set everything up. They were more then happy to help with everything, especially after the sale and after how much I constantly hounded them for help. Helpful, reliable
Terrible customer service and product – Bought a refurbished receiver thinking would save some money but had problem with it. Called their office and guy named [name removed] told me he will arrange it to be picked up by courier, waited for 4-5 WORKING days and no one came to pick it up. Called him again and he said one would come in couple of days time, courier guy came. HAD TO call… Read more
them up again to see what was wrong with it and what'll happen now. he told me he'll check and will ring me back again. same had to call him AGAIN. he said he couldn't find nothing wrong and told me he will change few things and we can go ahead. I thought it would be fine so said okay. i got the receiver after 4-5 days and checked the problem was still there. called them again and same thing happened couple of times. I would wait for them to get back to me and end of getting disappointment all the time. later i asked for the refund and to get it took me more than 3 weeks after sending the unit back to them. TERRIBLE SERVICE AND PRODUCT. I'M REALLY [censored words removed]. Anyways if there was an option of giving them a ZERO star, i would have done that.
Life is a Challenge – Firstly to Excel ... Excellent i believe is what there trying to achieve and i believe there pretty close, Over the past years i have bought a couple of Refurbished instruments of them and they have always looked after me even though there staff has changed over the years. This time my keyboard started sounding like i stood on the cats tail so i… Read more
took it to Excel in Hallam where it was purchased. A lovely girl
told me, cut a long story short they were not allowed to repair it and told me I would have to go to an Authorised Yamaha Service Centre as Excel were not Authorised anymore., As i wasn't very impressed about this she called the boss for me who explained that they were not allowed to do warranty repairs on music instruments and had been so directed by Yamaha Management. Probably noticing my anger at this stage he took the unit from me and gave it to one of the technicians, then told me to come back tomorrow it would be fixed. When i went back the next day they had fixed it free of charge, This is the reason i sat here and registered on this site because they deserve this review, Thank you Excel great to see theres still nice people in this world. As to Yamaha i don't know your reasons for your lame decisions however i believe you have rocks in your head not authorising this company as a service centre. Excellent Service
Great Yamaha stereo equipment – Excel Hifi has been around for quite a while. I bought my first piece of equipment from them about six years ago...it's still going great. More recently, I updated my amplifier. All of my equipment was "refurbished" with a 12 month warranty -- but it looked brand new (apart from the boxes) to me. It cost around half of what it would have cost to… Read more
go to another retailer. Excel's after sales service is unusually good. I contacted them about something that wasn't right, more than 12 months after buying it, and they offered to repair it and made arrangements for its collection. As it turned out, we discovered the stuffed cable before they collected it ...(yep, it was my fault). Also, they use Cope Sensitive Freight, the only carrier I would trust with Yamaha speakers (the guy brought them in like they were gold). So, if you're looking for Yamaha, Excel is a reliable place to go. They won't disappear into the interweb after they've got your money. Good prices. Excellent after sales service.
