Beware of this clinic – My son was a patient of [Name Removed]. His fees and charges are VERY expensive compared to other behavioural optometrists we have seen previously in Sydney. If you try to cancel/change your mind they have a ridiculous “30 minute cancellation fee”. That’s after you’ve been conned into nearly $2000 in glasses. They do not make this known at the… Read more

time of sale so essentially you are stuck paying through the nose or risk losing your money. It is in “fine print” on the back of your receipt. Again, they don’t show you this at the time. Similar comments have been mentioned a few times in other reviews so I know I’m not the first one to have this experience. I would never take my kids back to this clinic. I feel they are 100% preying on vulnerable people such as kids and elderly who may need special optical care by locking them into overly expensive plans. If you have a 30 minute cancellation policy that should be made clearly known and visible at the point of sale. Patients should be able to read your terms and conditions before being locked in! 30 minutes is not even enough time for me to get to my car and to drive home. Since speaking to [Name Removed] of my complaints they have been difficult to communicate with. I have since had a second opinion with another behavioural optometrist who concurred that this sort of business behaviour is disgraceful. Do yourself a favour. Don’t waste your time or money on this clinic. Do your research! Plenty of other great practitioners out there that do the same behavioural optometry with honest business practices.

Excellent Optometrist Care – Finding Eyes by Design has been a god send for our family. We moved to the Central Coast and needed an optometrist to help two of our kids with visual learning. After seeing Dr Nick a couple of times and doing the vision therapy, the change has been brilliant. Thank you so much!

Overpriced and wrong prescription – While Nicholas was friendly and professional, I won't be returning to this optometrist. The initial prescription was wrong, I tried the new lenses for a week with no improvement. I went back and was given new lenses to try, but they still weren't right. I was made to feel like I wasn't justified in saying that the lenses weren't right. I never… Read more

bothered going back a third time. Furthermore, the cost for the new frames and lenses was around $500 out of pocket. I ended up waiting until my health cover limits reset and went to Specsavers. The optometrist there confirmed that the lenses from Eyes By Design were too weak for my eyes.

Rolls Royce Prices – As for an Optometrist [Name Removed] is excellent , as for pricing and glasses he is overpriced. Learnt the hard way myself.Go to any large franchise optometrist. They do just as good and are by far more LESS expensive , you will save hundreds

Caution - Expensive – Registered with Product Review, just to post this review...caution - A very expensive service. I am not in a position to comment on the ability of their Eye Exams (I am not an Optician), but as a consumer who has been going to Opticians for over 20 years, my opinion...They are very expensive. This has been proven following two independent… Read more

prescriptions after our visit.

One a very well know optician's and another Specialist Behavioural Optician in Sydney. Both of which would not have prescribed glasses for my 6 year old son. This is main concern, should he be wearing glasses or not.

Firstly the examination was $150+, the high street optician would not charge anything, covered by Medicare and the Behavioural Optician was only an additional $40,over the Medicare rebate. Secondly the glasses prescribed were approx. $600 dollars after medicare rebates! This was explained to us as required due to the use of expensive "Trivex" lenses, which had a high impact rating than "normal" polycarbonate lenses, a quick google search, in fact the very first entry will argue that this is not the case. Thirdly, this optician prescribed the use of a "Prism" in the prescription, the high street Optician did not prescribe or discuss them at all, and the Behavioural Optician when asked directly if the use of Prism's would be of benefit, stated that they would not have used Prism's IF they were prescribing lenses, which they were not anyway.

And Finally, this opticians does not make the lenses in house, most Opticians these days no longer offer this service. So I was amazed that when I found out about the costs of the glasses and called them within 2-3 hours of the appointment that they could not halt the order, the reason being was that they had "placed the order with the Lab and it could not be cancelled", again I cannot dispute this. But I do find it amazing because the glasses took 10 days to arrive, and although the order may have been placed I do not believe that works would have started on the lenses.

In my opinion, I would avoid this optician for the purchase of glasses, and seriously consider any advice given, we have options! and there are always other opticians out there.....
