Love it - transformed my kitchen benchtops – I use this on my old timber kitchen benches some months ago, including the island bench - the product is Stain and Varnish Liming White in satin finish (water-based). I found it VERY easy to use in Sydney autumn temperatures, and did not have any of the trouble that others mention re it drying too quickly while you are still painting, as I did… Read more

small sections at a time. As the benchtops had so much natural variation, an orange aged tone and some damage, I could do a 3rd coat on the darker patches, and just 2 coats everywhere else Used only 500ml to do the whole job, a very efficient product. Touch dry within 2 hours to add the next coat - very convenient to get the kitchen back in use quicker. It was a pleasure to work with, and saved me over $2000 in replacing benchtops. The benches now look great, are well sealed and easy to clean. Highly recommended.

1 star is too much – Luckily I applied 3 heavy coats in test area before tackling the whole room. Might aswell be white tinted water. Not worth a cent let alone the $115 you'll pay for a 4 litre tin. Show details

ruined the floors – I used this product EXACTLY as per the directions and used the recommended woollen applicator. I was surprised at how badly it went on. It's very sticky and dries very quickly and so you need to get it right first time - which I found impossible even when being very careful. If you try to improve the look by going over it a few times while it's… Read more

wet, just seconds after initial application, each time you touch it, it will get WORSE - as in more blotchy and uneven.

I was so unhappy with the look, that I started all over again. So not only did I waste my time and money on this product, but I also wasted a lot more money having to hire the sanding machines all over again and a I lost an entire week resanding the floors. Don't waste your time and money on this product as making a mistake with flooring isn't easily fixed.

Now I'm testing their liming white stain in a corner before attempting the entire floor and that doesn't seem to be having the desired result either on my cypress pine floors as the colour is too weak (almost invisible), even after leaving 10 minutes before wiping off excess. Using wood primer first hasn't helped either but made it worse by darkening the wood colour, when I'm trying to lighten the wood colour. So next I'm going to test diluted white floor paint which should be easier to apply and provide a deeper, more noticeable whitewash colour.

Love this product! – Making the most of the Victorian lockdown and I’m sanding and liming the floors myself, doing it in sections. This is the second time using this product, and following the instructions on the tin, I again have a lovely result. I use a brush and paint three panels at a time, which keeps the wet edge, making blending easy. I am also finding it… Read more

disguises a lot of the imperfections I still have in the floor; pet stains and water damage that wouldn’t completely sand out. I’ve done three coats and I definitely have the beachy look I wanted. From my experience with it, I recommend this product. PS: Ladies, don’t let anyone tell you you can’t do it yourself! You can!!

Awful, save yourself the headache – Bought from Bunnings with the intention of staining a table with the grey "Danish Dust' variant. Oh boy. Did not turn out the way that was advertised. I've attached pics. After staining the large table, I was horrified. So I took an offcut to Bunnings, and even they were shocked at the difference when they sampled the stain on it. 1) is what I was… Read more

after 2) is the original wood (birch) 3) 1st coat. It was ok but still too light 4) 2nd coat. I stopped here. This was pretty much a white/blue not grey. 5) the actual poor table in question.

As per the instructions, it's recommend to do 3 coats to achieve the look. !!

What a waste of money. Now I have to spend hours to sand it back. Bought another stain from another company which was more true to It's colour.

Stay away.

It would take a lot of practice with this stuff to get a great result – It is difficult to maintain and blend the wet edge. Also I expected, as per label, a milky translucent finish that took multiple applications to build opacity. Instead it is almost like a slightly thinned white enamel, building immediate opacity that needs immediate buffing-out with a rag after sparing application. I think it was made worse for me… Read more

by a hot dry day, but nevertheless a difficult product to use. In the end, after only one very laborious sparing coat, I had to let it dry and buff it back by hand with 000 steel wool to get a consistent translucency. Even then it was difficult to remove blotchiness/ edge marks, ended up more like a coastal beach-vibe rustic chic than a smooth, uniform, sophisticated finish which was where I originally intended to go (and as per the photo on the tin!). I am not an experienced user of liming white, but I have done a lot of varnishing and staining in both and amateur and professional capacity. I don't think this product does what the label says. It dries too fast, and the pigment is too intense.

Brilliant finish, this was exactly what I was hoping for! – I was really nervous having read some terrible reviews but could not be happier with this product. It's exactly the subtle pale effect I wanted, has made the wood beautifully and actually helped to hide some of the areas we had scratched while sanding ( I was expecting them to become more obvious so that was a huge bonus). I applied it with a… Read more

brush and worked along each floor board for the whole length of the room to be sure it was even. It does dry quickly so I can imagine it would look bad if you didn't follow the floorboards or went back over a part that was half dry for some reason.

I'm attaching a before and after photo with 2 coats. A 3rd coat would have made the white a lot more obvious but this natural look is what I wanted.

Also -I absolutely did not 'cut in around the edges of the room first' that sounds like terrible advice. -I did this on a hot day and it was fine. It's not 'gooey' at all. -I got about 80sqm out of 4 litres. -AND I actually used this as the 3rd coat in a room that had been done with 2 coats of clear water based Enviropro Endure, it was way darker and richer than the rest of the house but after a light sand the liming white went on great, seems to have bonded fine and the rooms all match! -In hindsight, i should have bought knee pads and taken doors off. The end.

If you use this product correctly, the result is stunning!! – I have used this product several times now and I think people are just not applying it correctly. Yes, you have to apply it quickly, but I have limewashed the whole floor of our 90 year old guest cottage, which had a mix of patchwork timbers. We had the floor professionally sanded, of course, so we were down to the raw timber. You should expect… Read more

to apply at least 3 or four coats, but it dries really quickly between coats. You can reapply after 2 hours, so you can basically get the job done in a day, if you get a wriggle on! The first coat hardly shows at all. With the second coat, you can begin to see things happening. By the third and fourth coat, the transformation really starts to happen. I applied it with a very small roller on a very long rod! I worked quickly along one board at a time. Avoid doing the "picture framing" with the floor, ie don't go around the whole edge of the floor first. Get right into the edge just of a single board, with a paint brush if necessary, and then quickly roll from there to the other end of the board. It's a simple process. Use a light pressure with the roller and try to keep a wet edge along the edge of the board. Honestly, the result is simply stunning. With the various timbers in our old cottage, there is a natural variance. The more coats of liming white you apply, the "smokier" the colour gets. I really love it and we've had many many compliments. It's really hard wearing too and quite water repellant. And get this - I loved it so much, I even limewashed our awful LAMINATE floorboards in our own house! We had decided that we want to replace the laminate with timber, when we can afford it, so we had nothing to lose by having a go, simply for an interim fix. Again, I love the result. What was originally a very ordinary brown, cheap looking laminate, now has a lovely grey hue. Works really well with the coastal vibe I'm aiming for. So don't be too quick to dismiss it. I'm off to Bunnings now to buy another 4L :-) Well worth the money.

Worst experience ever and absolutely concur with comments by Noisyfridge – This product is to be avoided at all cost, a total waste of money and time. If only Bunnings could instruct their paint specialists not to promote this product! We had two areas designated for the liming white floor finish, one of approx 13m2 and another of 40m2. Started on the smaller area and after initial issues of raised grain and adhesion… Read more

went back to Bunnings and were advised to apply Proofseal before continuing. So back to sanding off and starting over, one coat proofseal and after appropriate waiting time applied Liming White Floor Finish.A slight improvement noticed on adhesion to floor boards but still experienced uneven application due to brush strokes, applicator strokes and short hair mohair roller strokes (yes tried all three) showing up and impossible to correct into a smooth uneven finish due to quick drying. Found it very hard to reload brush or any of the two other applicators with new paint and continue without a definite unsightly edge. Eventually had to apply loads of finish at intervals along floor board then run a brush the whole 3.5 m length in one go.This still left a problem with blending in the edges.Just to hard and the result pretty average at best. Four coats applied in total. I contacted the Feast Watson Helpline the following week and it was agreed that I should wait for a cooler day and apply more finish at a time to delay the drying time. It was also suggested I sand between every coat of this three coat system. This instruction did not appear on the tin and when I mentioned this was told they could not put all instructions on the tin. It took me three months to get the courage to attempt the 40m2 area and to wait for a cooler period. That day has arrived and unfortunately, nothing has changed, same issues with the difference that I now have 11m boards to run the applicator over in one go - impossible. I will now re-sand the original 13m2 and whatever I attempted today and get a different product to finish the floors. I really feel cheated by this product and that feeling has been strengthened by the experience described by Noisyfridge. Wish I had read that review before I began.

Absolutely horrendous to use, destroyed our floors – This product is an absolute nightmare to apply as the consistency is thick, gluey, and as soon as you put it onto the floor it dries super quickly leaving you no time to actually whitewash the floor. After calling the Feast Watson product help line to get advise on some potentially high tannin floors we wanted to whitewash the advise was to… Read more

use Proofseal as an undercoat and then Liming White Floor Finish.

Proofseal was easy to apply however darkened the Cyprus Pine floor after sanding it and returned back the orange sheen, therefore in hindsight this was probably our first mistake to follow the advise of the Feast Watson team given.

Given we used Feast Watson Proofseal product we thought the only product we could use on top of that was the Liming White Floor Finish as per their website. We got a contractor with 20 years of experience in Floorsanding and staining in to perform this part as we were not confident in our limewashing ability.

After he did 2 x 3 boards about 4 metres long with a very bad result he told us that the Feast Watson Liming White Floor Wash was impossible to work with as it was so sticky and the only way to apply it was to tape up sections and do section by section as you cannot keep a wet edge resulting in very ugly paint marks.

He did not have the time or patience to do that so we were stuck with the job.

As per instructions on the can we mixed 10% water in to somewhat make the product more userfriendly.

It was a complete nightmare as it it way to sticky and dries so fast.

Despite the two of us doing the washing (one applying the limewash, the other rubbing it in and off) it was impossible to do despite us even taping sections off and it looks horrible as it is uneven, if you don't get to smooth it within seconds it gets so sticky that trying to smoothen it will make the result even worse.

After doing about 25 m2 we gave up on the product and decided to take the risk of using another product on top of the proofseal. Porter's Wood Wash did a great job for us and the product was easy to apply and wash, a completely different experience all together as it is a lot thinner, non-sticky and does not dry fast.

After writing Feast Watson a complaint a competent team member called me which was very much appreciated. e
