Feast Watson Timber Floor Oil

turn matt finish to satin lustre – I have a red gum table top. I have applied 1 coat of Feast Watson Timber Floor oil to the top. I'm disappointed that this product is matt. If I apply 2 more coats to this surface, and then buff a hard wax onto the dried finish, will this process bring out a deep satin lustre? How long after the 3rd coat of Timber Oil should I let dry before applying the wax?
Lifeless, drab and boring - not a very inspiring finish for your floor – I bought this to use on a newly-sanded timber floor thinking it would be similar to the Feast Watson Floorseal (now discontinued) that I had used previously throughout my house. It was a huge disappointment and I am now wondering whether to live with it, or sand the floor down and start again. Whereas the old Floorseal was satin and gave a beautiful richness to the timber, the Floor Oil is totally matt and looks dead and drab, even after 3 coats. It just seems to soak in and give the appearance of the job being half-finished. No idea what Feast Watson were thinking to discontinue the Floorseal (which was a brilliant product) and replace it with this inferior stuff.
Hi Alan, So sorry to hear that you are unhappy with the results of our Timber Floor Oil. We are glad to hear you were such a fan of our Floorseal product, unfortunately customer demand was for a more natural finish product.
It is hard to compare our Floorseal to our Timber Floor Oil, as these are two very different products. Timber floor oil is a flat oil finish which requires buffing, whereas Floorseal was a poly with a Tung oil blend hybrid product. Our Timber Floor Varnish in satin is the most similar to Floorseal. The varnish can also be applied over Floorseal with a light sand and clean.

Hello David, Thank you so much for taking the time to reach out.
Feast Watson Timber Floor oil is a beautiful oil that penetrates deeply into timber and dries to a subtle matt finish. Simply buff to achieve a lustrous sheen.
Buff the floor after the final coat using a buffing machine (300 revs/minute). Allow 24 hours before buffing. If you need any further assistance with this project please reach out to our Help & Advice team, on 1800 252 502
All the best with the project! Sarah at Feast Watson
