Quality that stands out !!! – After struggling for years with fridges I have found what is from my point of view the perfect fridge, is spacious, led lights, elegant design, very very quiet operation, the stainless steel doesn't hold finger prints and not scratches and just to let every one know bottom mount is awesome !!! very very pleased !!!!

Fire Danger Beware! – My 2007/08 model fridge caught on fire while we were sleeping on Thursday night. It was discovered when my father went to the kitchen to find smoke bellowing out of it and when he opened the door the flames roared out. We lost atleast $500 of food from that fridge and the fire tripped the electrical circuit our other fridge was on,which we did not… Read more

discover until 3 days later when we lost all that food as well. I've lost time off work, towels, broke our Flexi swivel tap in an effort to extinguish the fire, and my kids freak out at any noise an electrical appliance makes now. The fire is clearly a fault in the fridge as it started in the motor. Fisher and paykel said as a "goodwill" gesture they would replace the fridge but they only had the one with the door opening on the other side which doesn't suit us. I asked for an upgrade given all my losses and they said no unless I was prepared to pay the ' inflated' price difference and said that they wouldn't give a cash refund. I am glad they said no because since this another mother at my sons school said that their fisher and paykel fridge burnt their whole kitchen and back end of house down a couple of years ago and I will not touch another fisher and paykel appliance again. I have since found out there have been other fires that have occurred in thier fridges to which they say " oh well, that one is a different model number to yours" really fisher and paykel????? We were really lucky on this occasion but as fisher and paykel clearly don't give a stuff about the safety of thier products - the next family may not be!!!

If only it worked as good as it looked – The stainless front looks nice (pity about the painted sides and top) however this is it's most redeeming feature, from a practical perspective it is not that great and as a couple find it is just big enough. One annoying aspect is that the doors often don't close fully without a good shove and since it is on a level surface I have put it down… Read more

to the design of the hinges, fortunately it has the warning beeper for this.

The freezer is a poor design with 3 separate drawers none of which are of a decent enough size, two are bins and one is a tray for ice, flat breads etc and all are easily filled which is why I do not recommend this unit for a family. There is very minimal clearance between them therefore you have to pack them with nothing protruding above the drawer height otherwise they wont close, given the variations in packaging these days organising the contents can be a chore at best.

I also do not feel the fridge gets cold enough compared to my previous unit, it has been cold enough to prevent food poisoning to date but notice that when it is full, the temp goes up even on the max setting and milk, creams etc tends to expire before the use by date.

The fridge is better than the freezer in that the shelf height adjustments are more accommodating, the door shelves are reasonably deep and the crisper a decent size. They could however have put the temperature controls on the side as being at the back they are difficult to reach when the fridge is stocked and I pity anyone who is not that tall.

Overall it is OK but not outstanding and had I viewed it during the purchasing process I wouldn't have agreed to it. Stainless finish, fridge shelving adjustments and sizes Not cold enough when fully stocked, freezer design is annoying.

Lasted years – My gorgeous stainless steel fridge has lasted years and still going. I have not had a major problem with it in all the years I've had the product.. I would recommend it for its reliability and consistency to keep my food cold. Keeping it clean is fairly easy so long as you have a good stainless steel cleaning product. Easy to wash and keep clean in side too.. Reliability, easy to clean and appearance Minor light problem

8 years no big issues with it – I've had this model fridge/freezer for about 8 years now and haven't really encountered anything bad about it. Yes it can be a bit noisy if living in an apartment but other than that, it has been a really good buy for one or two persons (though it can be used for a household of 4-5 people). It has a 3.5 star energy rating. wine racks in the fridge a lit bit noisy

Buyer Beware E442B – What a rubbish design the crisper is. The flimsy plastic cover & clips of our crisper self destructed within 18 months of purchase during routine cleaning - fruit & veg are soggy within a few days now. Purchase after much research but probably the worst fridge I have ever owned.......... Glass shelves & freezer underneath. Motor not noisy. Majorly poor design of crisper

You ar able to purcahse and new crisper cover, so your vege will not get soggy

E442BRXFD3 Flat Door AMAZING – We just bought a Fisher & Paykel E442BRXFD3 and it is perfect (2013). It has perfect chilling and freezing on the default settings. It is quiet, bright inside, good drawers and space, sturdy, and feels well built (like a golf). I would recommend. Only a few visual problems: It has a weird lip at the top of the fridge door that is not at the same… Read more

height as the fridge top. Slightly different coloured sides. But that is only visual. From the front, all good. Not sure if it is worth upgrading to the Flat Door from the BRX3 which should be exactly the same but with a curved front door. The reason we went with it was we got a free upgrade from Harvey Norman. Flat stainless steel, good at default settings, doesn't overfreeze the icecream, good price. Weird lip at the top of the fridge door that is not at the same height as the fridge roof. Slightly different coloured sides.

E442B tropical upgrade – We have an E442B it has worked well but a recent move to the tropics has exposed a problem, in the hot weather (32 deg inside) it struggles especially with the kids opening the door for cold drinks, the motor and outside we're getting so hot and the inside so warm yesterday that I think it was running continually and just shutting off when the… Read more ·  3

thermal cut out dictated. Complete failure seemed imminent so I shut it off to cool down and put our food in an esky full of ice! Seemed to have cure the problem by placing my sons small 10 watt fan at the back pointing at and a few inches from the motor. The fridge is running at the correct temp inside and the outside surfaces are much cooler as is the motor . Even with the electric fan running its probably using less power as now it switches off on the thermostat and is probably running far more efficiently. Highly recommended for the hot weather! Freezer at the bottom, layout inside style outside As above, we have also had to replace the door opening stops a couple of times combination of the plastic bits/design not being strong enough and us being a little heavy handed, been ok for a while now so maybe the replacement parts were improved or we are more careful
