AVOID THIS! Abysmal design & poor build quality – All the dials on our cooktop continue to fail and break apart. We have replaced all four dials twice. This is a common problem as others have shared and described. The root cause of the plastic knob fixture (noting the top of the dial assembly is metal) failure is due to its integration or connection with the metal post attached to the cooktop… Read more
which controls the gas. Fisher and Paykel have mistakenly reversed/flipped the 'D' shaped metal post during installation. It should be rotated 180 degrees so that the dial fixtures can properly align and fit the metal post controlling the flow of gas correctly. I have taken apart the dial assembly, removing the metal dial from the plastic fixture, in an attempt to rotate the metal dial to be in the correct orientation (12pm or OFF position), but the plastic fixture itself features two plastic notches which prevent alteration of orientation; in other words, there is only one single position/orientation to the dial assembly and the only way to resolve this issue is to flip/rotate the metal post itself.
We have been using this particular cooktop since installation in March 2021 and the continual dial failure is indicative of design flaws and shortfalls with putting out a proper product in the market.
The only saving grace, fortunately Fisher & Paykel spare parts and service team are actually pleasant to deal with and are quite responsive. The warranty on all parts is 12 months! So we replaced the dials over 24 months since installation, but the replacement dials have very quickly failed (in 4 months).
We also own Fisher and Paykel branded oven, rangehood and dishwasher in our home. and whilst they have had separate issues (just as annoying as this dial assembly issue!) we have found repairs and replacement of parts to be swift and without trouble (they directly employ service technicians in Sydney for repairs).
All in all, will be avoiding the purchase of Fisher & Paykel in any future kitchen rennovations in the future. Quality is very poor and cheap despite service being above average!
All but one knob broken inside 28 months – Three out of four knobs are broken after 18 months. Now very hard to use. The knobs are expensive to replace, and I have zero confidence in replacement parts
All knobs are broken – all knobs broke off after two years of use, price to replace them is approx $50 each x 4 $200; how can the knobs be worth almost a third of the price of the whole appliance Show details
Another with the knob issue – All 4 knobs now need replacing in under a year of use. Genuine knocks are $100 for a set! They should be giving them away with how poorly made they are. This cooktop is also dangerous if using smaller pots as they tilt if not perfectly placed on the cast iron top. Basically this cook top makes me angry everytime I use it, nice work fisher and Paykel Show details
Poor workmanship – I bought this new and have been using it once a day since February 2019. It has had two service calls because the gas would not light on two gas rings. Now it’s a third time. Don’t waste your money Show details
Avoid at all costs, poor design that keeps failing – I've had this cooktop for almost 2 years and the knobs have failed and been replaced twice. Writing this review after they have failed a third time! It's also very fiddly to get the burners to ignite even when the knobs are working, it can take several tries. Clearly a poor design that should have never made it to market. Show details
Brittle knobs – The plastic on the knob is brittle and useless.Could not find a spare just for the plastic and therefore would not recommend it at all. Very poor product from F&P!! Show details
fundamentally flawed – the base of the stove is made in such a way that unless the pan is placed perfectly, it will tilt the pan and often fall tipping your dinner onto the kitchen bench or the fall. when cooking multiple dishes this can slow you down as you have to be extra careful not to place pans at the wrong angel to cause it to tip. it has caused a number of… Read more
dinners on the floor and dented pans from unexpected falls. unfortunately one star is the lowest score. it should be negative score due to the fundamental flaw in design that allows pans to tip over. f&p should coduct proper useability testing
Poor quality from Fisher Paykel – The knobs on this cooktop are of very poor quality. The plastic knobs get brittle due to heat from cooking and break. I have replaced the knobs three times and they keep breaking. The cooktop is useless without the knobs. Will never buy or recommend Fisher Paykel products. Show details
