So Tired Of This Machine!! – Having purchased this machine 9 years ago, it has given me a long good service, my only complaint has been that despite my very careful loading of the clothes, it seems to wash and then stop and beep to inform me that the clothes have bunched up in one spot and I have to reorganise the load in order for it to keep going, (sometimes twice a load… Read more
which becomes very frustrating,) I don't overload the machine, no more than 3 bath towels plus some undies and it still stops at least once each load, my kids keep telling me to change to a new machine, but basically it still works and I only ever had one repair man to fix a minor problem . I hope that the manufacturers have changed the design before I start looking for a new machine!!
Lasted 10 years so far – I’ve had my Fisher & Paykel Aquasmart2 for close to 10 years and the only thing I had get fixed was the control panel within the first 18 months. Aside from that, I’ve had no other mechanical issues used with it. I love the various dedicated wash cycles, such as “soft toys” and “sports shoes”. Probably the only annoying thing about the machine… Read more
is when I wash sheets it’s guaranteed to thump around and then beep to let me know the load is out of balance.
It’s been a reliable workhorse for me. I’m only replacing my machine because I’m moving to a house where I need a frontloader to go under the laundry bench which will probably be another F&P.
Has done the job over the last 12yrs but with a few issues along the way – We bought this 7kg top loader 12yrs ago. At the time, I loved the idea of no agitator in the bowl and the preset water efficiency settings. The touch buttons rather than dials to turn were also appealing. I still love the lack of agitator but have felt frustration over twisted clothes & unbalanced loads despite taking care to spread out. I'm… Read more
guilty of overloading at times. The lack of lint filter becomes an issue particularly if you use Cold Wash a lot like me, but provided you make use of the "Bowl Clean" function more frequently than the 100 washes it alerts you on, it's manageable. I found my clothes were not clean enough on a "Regular" cycle or if I used one of the Water Efficient modes (the Efficiency light glows when selected) and used a "Heavy" cycle most frequently. Over the years we've replaced the control board (approx 7yrs ago by a F&P tech), as well as the suspension rods & main belt drive (approx 3 & 4yrs ago by my "Mr Fixit" husband who purchased the genuine parts off eBay). Reading other reviews these seem to be the most common parts needed. He swore when the motor went we'd buy a new machine. A month ago an ominous clunking starting and the machine could no longer move/spin but could fill and drain water fine - we took that as a sign it was time to move on. After our new purchase, he pulled the F&P machine apart to find the only thing wrong with it was the main bolt needed tightening under the bowl - tightened, works great, now selling 2nd hand.
Seems to be fine for us – I'm interested to know if the people leaving reviews have bought from new or second hand. My dad fixes and repairs, seems to do a good job? Especially if you follow manufacturer instructions and don't use fabric softener!! And put a proper load of clothes in, not overloading. It also helps if you level them out properly using their screw out feet.… Read more
The only reason I'd mark this at 3 stars is the suspension rods could be better, besides that, seems to be fine.
Not a good purchase – The worst machine we've owned. Was in for repairs multiple times. Loud, bangs like a bin truck. Is not kind to anything delicate so bring out the mesh bags if you have them. Will not run a spin cycle without endless rinses in between. Wish we had bought anything else. Show details
Lint all over cloths. Get a work out with the cloths brush on every item – Leaves dark marks on clothes very disappointed every time I do a wash! Hardly any water to cover clothes! Bad idea! Traded in a front loader which I hated but this tops it all.' Bought second hand but looked in very good condition, sad I didn't read reviews before hand. Show details
Tilt, tilt, tilt! – Amen to the above. I've just hung out a load of washing after it was on spin cycle for 90 mins. During that time I rebalanced the load (4 bedsheets and pillow cases + 1 bath towel) 14 times. After the 'tilt' beep sounded the 15th time I hung them out soaking wet and phoned for a technician. I was informed that the 'suspension rods' were probably… Read more
gone and replacements would cost $200 + $142 service charge. No thanks. This machine is going to the tip. I gave it an 'ok' rating for the previous 'ok' service. But was tempted to give a lower rating thanks to the customer service rep. I first spoke to, who advised me to turn off the machine at the wall and turn it on again. "What will that do?" I asked. Long pause. "Probably re-set it or something." [Me] "But wouldn't it re-set after being turned off at the end of the wash cycle?" [Longer pause] "Maybe." [Me] "Do you have any other suggestions?" [Rep]: "Don't overload it." [Me] "I didn't." [Rep] "Have you tried turning it off at the wall?" [Me] "Can I speak to a technician?"
Worst piece of white junk ever – Constantly leaves dirty marks on white clothes. Constant error messages that can't be resolved. Takes hours to go through wash cycles that result in your clothes being dirtier. The dirtiest most dysfunctional washing machine we have ever had the misfortune to own. About to throw ours off a third floor apartment balcony, keep an eye out for the… Read more
YouTube video. We were going to donate it to a charity but that would not be fair to the people who received it.
Absolute crap – Nothing good to say about, shocking mistake to purchase, cannot get it to the tip quick enough. Cannot even rinse or spin without going out of balance and there is a couple of pairs of jeans in it alone. To ask for a service call give me a break and then $150 just for coming. Going to buy a second hand something for the price and get rid of this headache. Show details
A terrible washing machine – Leaves lint and black stuff most of time, had it serviced, its noisy and unbalanced, and tightly winds clothes up on normal wash, terrible machine, should have been recalled. I don't feel that this machine ever worked properly, it has made washing a nightmare and costly. I work hard all week and need a perfectly working machine on the weekends. It has cost me so much and the warranty was useless. Show details
Lemon – Hasn't worked well since the beginning wish I still had the old school gentle Annie! Leaves detergent on tangled clothes. Unbalanced on every spin cycle and leaks on the sheet wash. Not water saving at all when you have to ready constantly. Also very noisy on the spin cycle when it decides to work. Show details
Terrible – Have to agree with everyone else... terrible washing machine and not a patch on my old Samsung. No lint filter so clothes always covered in lint... Jumps around and bangs into things because it doesn't balance well. Ties shirts in knots and rips buttons off... Otherwise not too bad ;) Show details
I bleeping hate it! – This is a terrible washing machine! I've had it for over a year and it has never done a full cycle without being "out of balance". I have no idea how it made it onto the market. I will NEVER by F&P again! It has torn clothes, it requires constant supervision, it violently bangs around (despite having foam batting placed all around to stop it).… Read more
I've tried using hot water, liquid detergent, putting it on a board to ensure its a flat surface (it's been in 2 properties, both with the same issue). I thought Fisher & Paykel were a good brand but they're in the Telstra pile of "well known brand not to be confused with good". Google it and you will find thousands of people who've experienced the same. I wish I had instead of being foolishly naive. Waste of money, time & patience! Buying a new one tomorrow but am almost too scared to trust any brand. I had more success with the old Simpson held together with masking tape when I first left home!

Very poor performance and reliability – Average at cleaning clothes and that's the only positive attribute of this machine. Wash cycles are excessively long and the machine keeps adding extra time. When it eventually finishes, clothes are very tangled and extra time is taken to sort them out. Out of balance is overly sensitive to a point where a load rarely completes without some type… Read more
of beeping and adjustment. I've changed the settings but it still happens to a point where I feel harassed and bullied by this hopeless machine. The Eco cycles were a selling point but come with reduced performance so I stopped using them.
Despite being less than 4 years old, it is not working again. Soon after I bought it, the machine died. It did not receive any power and the panel had to be replaced under warranty. I was told at the time that the original panel was obviously faulty (that was a known problem of this model) but it should not happen again. Well it has happened again and will cost in excess of $300 to repair.
Obviously it's not worthwhile repairing this still brand new looking, poorly performing heap of junk when I can put that $300 plus towards a new machine. It definitely fails the fitness for purpose test and will unfortunately add to landfill.
Fisher & Paykel make some great products. THIS is NOT one of them! I certainly hope this model has been discontinued!
Biggest piece of garbage I've ever paid money for – It doesn't really clean and rinse, it breaks a few times while on warranty and soon after warranty expires the washing machine goes into dying mode. Everything gets tangled together in a wash, elastic on fitted sheets gets ripped apart after a few washes. Every time you wash a load, a message 'out of balance' keeps on reappearing so you can't… Read more
leave the house while doing laundry. Loud. I called repair man after 6 months because the drum wouldn't balance, then it started leaking. Called repair man again. It still works but I won't be 'passing the curse' by selling it second hand. Goes to dump where it belongs. Cruel irony is that I've bought it because of water efficiency feature. By trying to reduce environmental damage, unwillingly I've contributed to landfill for a modest price of AU$898.
Worst washing machine ever – This is a terrible machine. You have to stand by for about 2 hours, constantly stopping the machine and re-balancing the load. For a queen sized duvet cover, I have re-balanced 8 times in the last 2 hours. Like washing heavy, wet sheets by hand. Even small loads of regular clothes have to be re-balanced at least once. I cannot put in a… Read more
load a wash and leave the house. Maybe it would be better if I had a large family and the wash basket was full, but don't buy this if you want a machine that will easily handle small load.
Worst machine ever. If I could give it negative 10 I would – I cannot tell you how much I hate this machine. So called aquasmart leaves the bottom of the sheets washed and the middle bone dry. A regular wash leaves clothes so crumpled and twisted it is a nightmare to hang out or iron. I've taken to ironing my clothes while they are wet because it is too hard after they have dried with the wrinkles in.… Read more
Cycles are way too long. Even a simple rinse cycle seems to take forever. And now, only a couple of years after buying this machine, it has started thumping and defaulting back to a rinse cycle half way through a spin cycle. Clothes have been in the machine for 3 hours and I still can't get them spun dry. This pile of crap they call a washing machine is going to the dump tomorrow.
Horrible machine – My machine has stopped draining and spinning as well. Near the end of a cycle, it just stays on "1 minute to go". I left to go shopping and the machine was on "1 minute to go" so I thought I would just be able to hang clothes out when I got home. I came home 2 hours later it was still on "1 minute to go". Does this every wash now. I have to go… Read more
and press the pause and "back" button and select the last cycle (spin) again. It just fills back up with water, drains about 1/3 of total water, wont spin and i have to wring clothes out with my hands. Really disappointed with this model.
Very Very Disappointed – I bought this machine 9/12 /11.On 30/1/15 it died and $380 later had a new power board fitted. On 23/3/15 it leaked like a tap and being on the 3rd floor that presents it's own problems. One of the hoses to the taps also leaked within a week of delivery. There was scum on clothes no matter what I tried. My previous F& P machine lasted 17 years and never failed and as a solo user the machine wasn't over worked. I won't be buying F&P again
Wish I could leave 0 stars – This machine is a heap of junk and has been a heap of junk since day one. Unfortunately I have had it for about 4 years. It was bought as a replacement for a front loader to make my washing easier to to get out of the machine without bending down, joke on me............ Why am I writing this review now.........I have just wrestled with the… Read more
knots to get my sheets out of the tub again and flared up my tennis elbow.......not happy!!
I had the technician out several times when the machine was new and he wasn't able to fix the issues. In the end he admitted the machine was a lemon and recommended that I fight the company for a replacement, who has the time and energy to do that. The entire machine has been pulled apart several times and the controller replaced.
We pay these companies good money for this rubbish, surely the onus should be on them to provide a decent product.
Issues with machine:
Doesn't wash the clothes properly
Requires fabric softener to reduce the lint issue
Fabric softener builds up and makes the clothes feel scummy
Doesn't rinse the clothes properly
Ties the washing in knots
Machine does not alert me if out of balance, it just throws itself all over the place (I really wish it would just tear itself apart)
I can't use the water saver function
Constant loud ticking noise when running. This was fixed but started again a week later
I have forgotten what bright, clean fresh smelling clothes look like, I will never buy an appliance from this company again.
biggest piece of rubbish i have ever bought – I fell for the electronic rubbish two From the first time I used it the sheets were ripped along withe pillow cases The technitian sent out to fix it said there was nothing he could find wrong with it. he came out on another two occasions without being able to fix it. After 15 months i took it too the tip & bought a Malleys I have had it for four years now without a problem Gary Gray sydney australia
Leaves sludge – I regret buying this machine. The main reason for my regret is the dirt or sludge which it leaves on clothes. I have started putting it on a clean cycle twice every couple of months to see if that helps. It does not! (Manufacturers instructions recommends the cleaning cycle to be operated 5 or 6 times a year). I also do not use fabric softener. It can do large loads Leaves sludge or marks on clothes

A very good washing machine – I had this washing machine for 5 years and it is still going very well. It is the best washing machine I had so far. All my family like it. I love it. It never caused any concerns and can wash a large load of clothes efficiently. It is quiet and efficient. There are so many functions and they do work. It saves water and very efficient. Does a good job even on stains. I can stop the machine and add clothes during the washing.
WL80T65C don't waste your money – We bought this piece of junk after reading Choice magazine review. It was supposed to be one of the best washing machines (as far as washing clothes is concerned). The only better machines were Miele, and other very expensive brands. We bought this piece of junk and it just doesnt wash our clothes. We have had Fisher Paykel look at it several… Read more
times and correct a few things but still the clothes come out the same as they went in. It is no better than dropping your clothes into a bucket of water and then taking them out 15 min later. If you just look at the agitator it's obvious it cant wash clothes. I should not have taken Choice's word for it. I am so disgusted with this. My wife has to presoak everything before putting it in the wash and the washing still comes out dirty. We have tried all F&P suggestions, different powders, liquid detergents, cycles, more water, hot water, cold water, etc etc. To rub salt into the wound the main board failed a couple of months ago and instead of trashing the machine i paid $340 odd dollars for the board to be replaced. I should have used that money for a new machine. While our machine was out of operation we used our 30 year old Hoover which has been left outside in the elements. I attached the garden hose and threw in a couple of buckets of hot water and some detergent. After kicking it to get it started (as it is now rusting in the elements), the machine washed our clothes beautifully. As soon as we took the clothes out we could see how this old machine is still so much better than the F&P.
The big pity is that you cant test drive a washing machine before purchase, unlike a car or a tv set its almost impossible to assess a washing machine. The laws need to be changed to save consumers from this. i dont believe this machine is capable of washing clothes. I also dont have the heart to sell it to anyone after i buy a new machine as i cant stand the thought of cheating anyone.
So my clear recommendation is dont buy this machine if you need it to wash your clothes. if you want to display it, it's fine, but it doesn't wash clothes.
i would love to hear from anyone else having the same problem (or even love to hear from anyone that has this and is happy with its washing performance). I am convinced this model is a lemon. The display looks nice doesn't wash clothes/

I hate this washing machine – This is by far the worst washing machine i have ever owned. The water saving option leaves soap residue all over your clothes - so you don't use it, ever. My machine is a couple of years old and has completely lost the plot. It has a terrible out of balance problem. Wish i had researched more extensively prior to buying as it seems to be a… Read more
very common problem. When it goes out of balance, it screams at you until you rearrange clothes.....Only to do it again, and again, and again. It's going out on the footpath. I really hate this machine. Salespeople rate them well - they're lying. Looks good Constant balance problems - can take all day to get through a load. The 'watersave' option
WL80T65C – Fisher and Paykel's first High Efficiency Aqua Smart front loading washer, giving the water usage benefits may be true however as before Fisher and Paykel machine do not last the distance it is either a computer problem or with this one balance problem, Not anymore I will stick with other brands! No Agitator plenty of washing space Balance
Really bad, please save yourself the grief – Yes, well, back in the days when I didn't know about the productreview website, we purchased one of these machines. The clothes would often come out more dirty than when they went in. I don't know what they were thinking when they made these, but the lint ends up on the washing. We had repair men come & try to fix it after talking with Fisher &… Read more
Paykel, but they were wasting their time. They even tried replacing a circuit board in it. The fact is, as pointed out by the repair men, the machine was working as it was designed to. But it wasn't capable of cleaning clothes.
There was nothing unusual or exceptional that we were trying to do with the machine. It doesn't have a lint filter, we questioned the salesman before we bought it, but he said the lint goes out with the wash. He lied. The lint actually goes out with the washing.
After 6 months of complaining, we put our foot down and demanded a refund, we got it, we were lucky. Then we bought a Miele, search my review on it - so far different it's not funny. It was a top-loader which was what we were used to. Expensive piece of junk not capable of cleaning clothes. Lint ends up on clothes.
WL80T65C Waste of money – What a poor washing machine, had it 4 years and its stuffed.Should our throw away society now encompass washing machines.Balancing fault like many others, repair people say its a rubbish model but Sales people didnt tell us (why would they $$$).Seems problem due to suspension rods (4) which are non adjustable -replacements cost $111 not fitted.Looks… Read more

Unfortunate Purchase – This machine has been a problem since word go. It unbalances itself almost every load, and yes I do spread the washing out evenly when loading, and it snapped its drainage pipe in the first year of having it from an imbalancing issue. Today it has now had its button board freeze and when the buttons become unstuck and I can get it working, it will… Read more
only get part way through the spin cycle. We have never been more disappointed in a fisher and paykel purchase, than we have been with this. different wash options and water efficiency. Imbalances
Is yours a 7 kg or 8kg?
One of the best purchases I have ever made!! – I love this machine, it's efficient and does such a great job, and uses little water to boot, I was always a front loader gal, but having 4 children meant I had always forgotten to put something in at the last minute, essentially this machine works the same way a front loader does which is why I think it washes so well, I have had it for 3 years… Read more · 3
now and not one single issue, I love that it has a cleaning cycle after 100 washes as it keeps the machine nice and fresh, I love the ease of use, and the digital touch buttons, it has heaps of pre set wash cycles that work very well, I would recommend this washing machine any day of the week!! Reliable, water and energy efficient, washes really well, bowl size is huge, easy to use and looks great! Have never had a problem in the 3 plus years I have had this machine!!
Not worth the money – Have had the washing machine for 5 years. It is only my partner and myself which we would only wash 2 loads per week. The spinning/balancing mechanism has broken and is unfixable. Otherwise I really loved that machine for the options it gave with water efficiency and type of loads. Just disappointed that we didnt get the milage out of it, as we… Read more
thought pay more for a better quality product but that proved wrong. Next time I will research my products much better. Easy to use, water efficient Expensive and didnt last as long as I thought it would.
Balance issues lets F&P down badly. You would have thought they'd get this right.
Read before you buy – I will never buy a washing machine with no removable lint filter ever again. This is the second top load washing machine I had with no lint filter. I thought there was something wrong with the Whirlpool machine as I couldn't get rid of the lint after 3 years using it with no problem. The sales lady said she had one of this machine and it is… Read more
fantastic it had a built in lint filter which automatically gets rid of the lint when the machine pumps out the water. But it is just the same as my old Whirlpool, it had the same problem as soon as I used it. I contacted Fisher&Paykel customer support and they told me to clean the machine with warm water with baking soda. Did this fix 3 times with no success. They also said not to overload the machine but there is only 2 of us and I do the laundry every weekend that I sometimes couldn't fill to max capacity. The problem is the clothes are filtering the lint. Washing machines like this are just badly designed. They got rid of the removable lint filter and the periodic pumping of soap water to the filter, I think to save on power. I ended up fabricating a removable lint filter and occassionally when clothes end up with lint I had to rinse them again, remove the clothes from the tub, dump the water, put back the clothes and spin dry. It has 2 water saving settings. I prefer top load machine so I can soak the clothes. Will not remove lint, cotton clothes end up with lots of lint, dirt and hair. Sometimes I had to rinse up to 3 times.
Aquasmart 2 Fisher and Paykel – Imbalances all the time as clothes tangle up without the taller agitator to keep them separated. Does not always balance itself as it is supposed too and then it stopps and waits for attention. The iea of the preset sysle wash types is fantastic and the water saving mechanism (high efficiency) washes. High efficiency wash and wash cycle choices are fantastic imbalances and sheets especially get tangled and cycle stops.
