Avoid at All Costs! Terrible Quality and Nonexistent Customer Support – I cannot emphasise enough how disappointed and frustrated I am with the Fisher and Paykel glass cooktop that was installed in our brand-new house. This supposed "cooktop" turned out to be an absolute disaster just after using it twice! Imagine my shock when, while simply wiping it clean, the entire corner of the glass cooktop cracked. Let me be… Read more
crystal clear: there was absolutely no impact or accidental damage involved – the only items that ever touched this cooktop were regular cooking pots placed on the burners for their intended purpose.
One would assume that a cooktop, which is explicitly designed and marketed for cooking, would possess a level of durability that matches its intended function. Unfortunately, this is not the case with Fisher and Paykel's product. It seems they've managed to create a glass cooktop that is as fragile as a soap bubble, unable to withstand the very cooking activities it's designed for. What a ridiculous contradiction!
Hoping for some redemption, I decided to reach out to Fisher and Paykel's customer service, hoping they would stand behind their product's quality and address this glaring issue. What a mistake that turned out to be. I sent them clear photographic evidence of the damage, only to receive a response that left me baffled and infuriated. They had the audacity to claim that this damage was due to "impact" and thus not covered under warranty. How convenient for them to label it as such and absolve themselves of any responsibility for their shoddy craftsmanship!
But here's the real kicker – after delving into numerous online reviews, it became evident that my experience was far from isolated. Countless other customers have faced the exact same issue: a fragile glass cooktop that spontaneously decides to crack under normal cooking conditions. And guess what? Fisher and Paykel consistently wash their hands of these problems, refusing to acknowledge the widespread quality issues plaguing their products.
To add insult to injury, Fisher and Paykel's customer service is nothing short of abysmal. They seem to have mastered the art of ignoring their customers' complaints and concerns, blatantly shirking their responsibility to stand by their products and address genuine issues. I can honestly say that in all my years as a consumer, I have never encountered such abhorrent customer service.
In conclusion, if you value your hard-earned money and sanity, do yourself a favor and steer clear of Fisher and Paykel's glass cooktops. The poor quality and lack of accountability they demonstrate is a disservice to anyone seeking a reliable and functional kitchen appliance. I deeply regret trusting this brand and will never make the mistake of doing so again. Save yourself the headache and disappointment – invest in a reputable brand that actually cares about the quality and performance of their products.
Not worth the money – I spent Christmas at my son place and accidentally tipped a glass bottle of olive oil onto his 90cm gas on glass Fisher & Paykel cooktop. It broke the corner, sharp little shards of glass too. He is in the process of renovating the home and it hasn't been in for long. It cost $2000, If it breaks that easy I'd be terrified to use it on a regular… Read more
basis. It is a good looking cooktop, I'll say that for it though Now I'm up for a huge repair bill. I'll stick to my Westinghouse ceramic cooktop, which doesn't shatter when you drop something on it.
Glass shattered into a trillion pieces! – Even though this is an older model which we've had for 5 years or so, surely the whole glass top shouldn't shatter for no apparent reason? F&P were reasonably helpful on the customer services call and have provided me with a price for replacement glass, but by the time I've paid for this plus labour I may as well buy a new hob. And I'm afraid it… Read more
won't be Fisher & Paykel based on this experience. We thought we were paying top dollar for quality and longevity but clearly not as other appliances from rival brands have lasted far longer.
Worst appliance in my beautiful new kitchen and I usually love F and P – It is literally impossible to clean this glass. I have spent $140 on various cleaning products but to no avail. I’m bitterly disappointed and have specifically asked my architect and builder never to specify this product if they can help it. Such a pity Show details
Ridiculous! Easy to break & shocking customer service – I’ve used this product for 6 weeks and the glass has already cracked! This appliance should be durable, shatter and heat resistant. A thin drinking glass tilted next to the corner and it has shattered the glass. After submitting a warranty claim the representative was extremely rude & unhelpful. She insisted on me paying for a technician to come out & inspect but also insisted it won’t be covered under warranty anyway. Show details
Nightmare to keep clean – Looks great when just cleaned, but beware after every use you will need to clean every drop of water, splatter and anything that has dropped on the glass, first with a damp cloth and then polish it with a glass cleaning cloth. Also hard to see flame against black glass so therefore when it's left on in error (when used on very low) the only way… Read more
to notice is when standing near it and all of a sudden you feel the heat.....this has happened 3 times in our house in two months, yes there is a safety switch if the flame goes out but nothing on the cooktop to indicate elements in use, I would think quite dangerous for most homes. Had fitted to our brand new home.
Wouldn't buy another one! – Nightmare to keep clean, glass top very easy to break . $600 to replace. Wish we hadn't replaced the Neff, best ever ,stay with stanless steel!the glass streaks so bad and is made worse if you use paper toweling! Regret buying this thing ever time we clean it! NOT HAPPY! Worst cooktop – Very disappointed Easy to break and you have to pay more than three hundred dollars to replace the glass top and not easy to keep it clean because of the glass's quality which changed the colour from black to grey, the worst gas cooktop ever. Noone buy glass cooktop ever. Show details
Does not stay alight – I have had a huge amount of bad luck with this cooktop, 3 repairs since I got it because the gas will not stay on! One of the burners keeps having a fault in the flame failure sensor and it won't let the gas stay on. Apparently this is a common fault and no one wants to address it. I have had to wait 3 weeks to get 3 burners repaired. Show details
Better than expected – I was dubious about this cooktop but I’ve been pleasantly surprised. The burners are far more stable than expected and it’s easy to clean. The frameless glass looks great and there is plenty of space when cooking with multiple pots and pans. We had some initial troubles with the ignighters but the F&P service team were able to advise the installer of a solution over the phone. Show details
Sorry Total Rubbish – In12 months after buying the model it was cancelled due to technical issues. The gas top looked amazing with flat black glass and the burners slowly raising up when turned on and thats when the problems started. its funny the same fault code comes up however the product has been repair twice for the same fault and still no replacement. is complete with Fisher and Paykel products it was the worse 10,000 dollars spent. I should of stuck with Miele.
Terrible to keep clean! – Even though this cook top does it's job perfectly and without fault, it is the hardest thing to keep clean. I would never have bought it had I known how long it would take me to clean it!!! Terrible waste of time when I could be attending to the kids....
Very happy with the purchase – Selected this model after doing online research and never looked back ever since. Glass is very durable, so easy to clean and makes our kitchen looks nice. It has 5 gas burners and an electric powered switch. Our builder bought it for us as part of a home package and so far everything has been working fine.
