Hi All,
I am looking for your expert opinions before buying this dishwasher? Is it worth to spend $1300 for this product? FISHER & PAYKEL FREESTANDING DISHWASHER DW60FC4X2
Hi, I bought the DW60fc6x1 model dishwasher new from an auction recently. I know it's not the same model as yours but usually they are designed similar. With the one I have, I've discovered that unless you use a rinse aid you'll have heaps of water left on all the dishes especially the cutlery tray. I also smell a hot rubber smell all the time when in use, maybe that's just because it's new. In the instructions it says to push the start button but I have to hold the start button down for it to come on. The centre basket feels flimsy when sliding in and out and just doesn't feel like it's fitting comfortably into the water plug at the back. I had a Euro which I considered a cheap product but it lasted 13 yrs and I never had these types of issues, never had to use a rinse aid as long as I opened the door a little to let the steam out. I no longer think Fisher & Paykel a really good brand. Maybe keep looking at other ones.
Hi Denise, Thank you so much for your elaborate response. It is very helpful in my final decision :)
my problem is for the last few weeks, the start button doesn't work and i end up opening, shutting the door pushing the start button about 20 times, sometimes less, until the lights all come on and it works perfectly. no fault numbers are showing. trays are all pushed in properly and nothing is in the doors way hindering it from closing properly.
Hi Lynette, my new Fisher & Paykel dishwasher has not been the best choice I've made. I read all user directions and it says to push the start button and then continue to do the rest. I push the start button and it doesn't respond unless I hold my finger on it a bit longer and then it comes on. This was not written in the instructions. Fisher & Paykel is not nearly as good as we're all lead to believe. Hoping this is your problem too, otherwise good luck in getting help from them. Cheers Denise
tried that on my wash last night and it worked first go. Thanks for the tip.
We have a Fisher & Paykel Dishwasher Model number DW60FC6X1 which has stopped working 6 days ago on 29/11/23. (We have been away and unable to address the issue sooner) It made 2 loud noises then ceased to work anymore. Its 2 year warranty was up on the 26/11/23, 8 days ago. Under the New Australian Consumer Law passed on 01/01/23 is my dishwasher still covered
My Fisher & Paykel dw60fc6x1 is Not heating water had the pump out with integrated heater checked continuity and was fine. Thought could be thermostat/ Turbidity sensor so ordered new one and fitted but still not heating. Does not show any fault codes. Any ideas cheers
The lower spray arm hits the back of the dishwasher and has done since new. It stops the arm from turning and the result is unwashed dishes.
Worst dishwasher money can buy It’s small racks are awkward to pack Just a joke
Is there something special that needs to be done if purchasing a floor model? Ours is not starting. None of the standard troubleshooting suggestions have worked.
How fo i reset rinse aid. I need more of it its not enough
The cold water setting has turned on and I don't know how to turn it off.
Wow, So Sorry PeggyT, I cant help you with that one sorry, I would suggest you ring F & P and ask them how and why. I must add our F & P dish washer failed and is now considered stone cold DEAD and after looking a new ones and seeing the price and since they onlt last around 4 to 5 years we have decided that we will buy the cheapest available cause that to will die in a short time ...Thanks again.
Will this dishwasher work fine only using cold water
Hi Peter M, Dishwashers are designed to perform at their very best with hot water as most plates Bowls knives forks spoons etc after use carry normal bacteria and also meal greases etc so its far more hygienic and performs better when the water is very hot and a good detergent appropriate for your requirements are used, cold water with detergent will perform a very basic service plus meals like lamb or fatty meals may clog your plumbing with a fatty residue where as hot water will degrease your plumbing in many cases and give you a better result, If your dishwasher is running cold it may need a replacement heating element to bring that sparkle back....Hope that helps a little.
Are these genuine reviews? Choice is much more complementary.
Hi Lindy I took the time to write the review as I was so dissatisfied with the machine that we purchased brand new and did not work correctly from the get go. Turns out they have a common problem with the heater and the machines washes in cold water and does not dry the dishes. This has since been replaced and the machine is working fine now. So yes this was a genuine review based on a very disappointing initial purchase. Interestingly the repairman said this was a rare occurrence yet he happened to have just the right part in his van to fix the issue - imagine that.
Yes its a genuine review, like I said, the machine worked very well at first and now a few years down the track we have a rust problem with the cages internally literally falling apart with sharp rusty decaying frames and on second thought I think it could do a better job in drying but some days its good others not so good, yes I expect any items I purchase to last longer than what they do. my cash is a good item so I expect the item to be worthy of my cash, if you cant make a decent item with decent longevity don't make it, earn a good reputation for great performing long life products not poorly build cheap stuff at a over inflated price tag...Corporate greed seems the biggest challenge in designing building a good product now days, we have the technologies the machinery to build it the materials to build it but yet manufacturers choose to make a medium grade product at an inflated price or is it the retailers screwing us over.
Yes - I will never buy Fisher and Paykel ever again! Didn't even last 1 month out of the warranty. Then to fix is more than the cost of a cheaper new dishwasher. It really cheeses me off that this seems to be common, the prices of parts to fix appliances are so expensive, not to mention labour and then no real guarantee on the parts.
