Had issue with machine leaking. Known issue. F&P produced a new part which looked exactly the same as old one and did nothing. Still leaking plus lint and sludge continually left on my cloths even though I clean machine and lint filters regularly. Company did give us a store credit as machine was only purchased Dec 2024. years- never a problem - this one - destined for the rubbish tip. I will NEVER buy a F&P product again and I advise people who are thinking of buying this product to not waste their money. By the time I have paid $300 call out fee, $190 diagnostic fee, parts and labour I will have buy a new BUT TOTALLY DIFFERENT BRAND machine. this machine is still on the market and, I am sure, is a lovely moneymaker for its manufacturer as it needs to be replaced often. The price of the unit does not reflect the quality of the unit - retail price it at $400 - $100 per year before it breaks down, that price would reflect the poor quality.

scum buildup. Within 2 years the smell started in our clothing. We tried all kinds of cleaners. But the waxy build up started appearing on our clothes, to the point we had to wash things three times to clean them. We pulled the whole machine apart to find the most disgusting sight I'd ever seen. Shame on you fisher and paykel for making a machine you can't do a hot wash on to clean. Even when your advice is to do this function every now and then to prevent the build up.

Poorly made – We chose this machine as we needed to up grade to a bigger machine and our last 4.5kg Fisher & Paykel top loader was still going after 15 years. Let's just say they don't make them like they use too! After less than 5 years the lid and front of the machine is rusting. Do not buy Fisher and Paykel, what was once quality is now garbage – Previous F And P machine lasted 15 years and was excellent. minutes are spent washing and the rest is messing around after emptying the soapy water. Our F and P cooktop has failed after 4 years and the oven lasted 10. Fisher and Paykel are knowingly churning out garbage and they don’t even care anymore. Never again.

company. If I had known this, I would never have bought this machine. It regularly gets stuck on 11 minutes, and I have to manually push it forward to the next cycle. It regularly leaves scud marks all over my dark washing. It does not like being put on pause or having its cycle interrupted. It wants to be in charge – not me. I highly recommend you do not buy this machine.

Goes of balance at the 11 minute mark – Had this for 5 years and now ur goes of balance at the 11 minute mark . It works fine on the first load then off balance on the rest so I’m not happy. Fisher and paykel used to make good washing machines now they rubbish.
Wouldn't buy again – I have had F & P for the last 30 years. This 10g model has been disappointing. Functionality is limited - open the lid and the whole of that cycle starts again! The old model was great, this one not so – I bought a F&P WA1068G1 top loader 3 years ago after 10+ years of good service from a previous F&P top loader. It has had very light use (2 people) but now it keeps repeating cycles and stopping with an 'Unbalance Load' alarm. Not what I would have expected from a $1000+ washing machine just a few years old. Not good enough!!

Can't wait to get rid of this machine – All my clothes and linen have always been washed by a Top Load Washing Machine. Using rainwater tank makes a noise – Is there specific options when connecting the machine to use rainwater tank? Probably issue in my end but wonder if theres any specific option. The water stops after 60 seconds and makes a noise.
When it works and holds the water it is great – I have had no end of trouble with this model, I have had other washing machines of the same brand which have been perfect but this one is one I can't recommend. Don’t make them like they use to… – Purchased in 2017 after my second smart drive went after ten years… loved the smart drive product. Use the Allergy setting – After no hot wash from this machine, and many, many calls to F&P and 4 attempted repairs to get a hot wash over 6 months (no it was not the water pressure!!!)... new valves, new control board ... And it does work, I can now get a fairly hot wash... sort of half way between hot and warm. This is the only choice. The manual says every cycle can give a choice of cold, warm or hot ... it's a lie. On every cycle except Allergy, the digital program makes the valve for hot water shut off after a few minutes. No one at F&P help seems to know about this.... I have talked to many different people. No one in the tech dept except this one man! My repair man has called them hundreds of times for this 'no hot wash' problem in his work... never been given this information before. Is it fraud to pretend all the cycles can do temp choice when it's a built-in fault? And the company knows about it? Other than this, the machine is adequate and quiet.

Worst customer service - don't buy from F & P – This machine is only four years old, it gets used maximum once a week. Cost $1K and the suspension rods are shot. Now come to their customer service, I have been trying for two days to get through to someone to talk to, been in a cycle of being on hold for over an hour to be told I need to speak to customer relations, then go on hold again to be told it is a customer service issue. An automated voice says there is a wait of one hour and then asks to confirm your number for a call back, then either cuts you off before you can confirm or the call backs have come at 6pm or 7am, hours past the one hour wait time.
The last customer service person told me the system was messy and far from ideal. Never a truer statement made.
I would recommend not buying any Fisher and Paykel product, should anything go wrong, the customer service is shocking.
I was a fan previously. But in the last four years I have had brand new dryer, now washer both need repairs and these ridiculous wait times to talk to anyone each time.

cycle. If you pause to put a forgotten item in the machine restarts from the beginning of the cycle including with water. Even if it HOT is selected the machine tops up with COLD water on all cycles if you pause and restart. The rinse is poor and clothes do not appear to be clean. The machine is hopeless at stain removal which I have NEVER had problems with previous washing machines. White stuff is not white. I resorted to trying out different brands of washing detergent and there is no change. It is really, really loud as well. I'm also pretty sure that it has torn my sheets. And you definitely can't wash doonas. Waste of money. UPDATE: My machine proceeded to get louder until it became unusable. A tech attended who replaced the faulty part and that was fine for a short while. It then became really loud again. The machine is now being returned and I have bought a different brand. To give credit to both Home Clearance and Fisher & Paykel they have endeavoured to fix the machine promptly and when this appeared not possible have offered me an acceptable alternative which I am happy with.

the washing machine to capacity, and yet when I start the machine it will keep filling, then start to empty, only to re-fill again?? If the machine is paused, even just to lift the lid to add one more item, it re-starts the whole cycle all over again. If I select the lowest water level, it will still fill to the top, even if there are only a couple of small items in the bowl - this is not a smart washing machine. It's an idiot washing machine. Today it no longer drains, and I have checked all through the manual to find out how to trouble shoot, and there is nothing. What? Really F&P - you cannot tell us how to check hoses, or the filter. a big mistake. It does not rinse properly leaving detergent on clothes. You can't add something without it going back to the start. I bought the larger capacity machine to wash doonas but it leaves lint all over them. I do think it is an energy and water efficient top loader. After 2 years we replaced the solinoid, had water leaking, after 3 years I had to replace the agitator (something I never had to do in 16years with my old machine). Then the loud banging, machine jumping around started. We were constantly having to rebalance. This got worse until it would no longer spin and I was hanging very wet clothes on the line. After some research, we discovered we needed to replace the balancing rods. Just about to order some new ones and the machine now won't start. We have decided to purchase a different brand rather than throw more money at this machine. I'm so disappointed in this F&P product. I will definitely think twice before buying any more of their products in future.

product should have to waste 15 hours waiting around for a repairer, who then has to order the part which takes forever to arrive to then wait for Fisher and Paykel to fit you in when it suits them. Then I have to take another 5 hours off work to wait around yet again, to fix a brand new product that shouldn't need repairing to start with. I'm beyond angry. This is the terrible machine that I had – Cannot do hot wash, every times you press the PAUSE Button it will start all over again, clothes smell washing powder really bad because when it does the rinse cycle it does not do a very good rinse. 5 years old and wings on agitator are breaking. Often doesn`t pump hot water in. Sometimes gets stuck in the cycle – Machine does wash clean. Load size is good. On the Quick Wash I would prefer the wash time to be longer. I only use Regular and Quick Cycles. Hot water only sometimes comes out, when on warm wash. circuit board that controls the water level decided that it would make my life uncomfortable by causing the machine to overflow which required bucketing out water sot the machine would start again. Now i have to set the water to the lowest level (even though the machine fills to the top on this setting) to allow the machine to operate. The replacement circuit board cost over $300.00 dollars and had to be fitted by an authorized installer otherwise there would be no warranty on the part. 90 day warranty if installed by authorized installer. When this machine dies I will purchase a brand that is not Chinese owned.

F & P Quality gone downhill in a big way – Owned a GW609 Top Loader for a decade and half having little problems with it apart from replacing the solenoids for the water. normal wash modes would randomly jump between cycles. Repairmen changed the motor controller & all was good for 8 months, same problem second time occurring. Got the guys back out changed again. Settled down for a bit then after warranty was out started again but the wash mode was ok so we just avoided the soak modes.
Had similar off & on problems for 4 years after that our older washer covered till the gremlins cleared and numerous repairmen not being able to find the problem. Then over Christmas again gone, now won't even wash, can't regulate water level. Thought a 5 year old wash maybe a new motor controller module would do the trick, well seems F & P don't stock anymore. Even second hand parts are non existent online for this model which makes me think the model has a problem with it motor controller that is Thai built now.
I now have a very expensive boat anchor that I will probably start wrecking for parts to at least recoup some of the purchase cost. Meanwhile the 20 year old model of the same brand still powers on with having to replace the bearings last week.
I will say when the above reviewed washer did work it did a very good job. Downside was the woeful reliability.
Great machine – Recently bought my third fisher and paykel this one is the 10kg top load washing machine love the features, washes the clothes perfectly makes no noise at all. Would recommend this machine. Show details
