Got a quote today from fisher Paykel to repair said great product... $850 to fix Fischer Paykel piece or rubbish we are a large family pensinors i cant afford this continual repairs.

The machine is slightly narrower but still takes a big load and uses far less water than my old one.

The sales people are all trying to flog front loaders and will tell you that without the agitator, clothes will become entangled, but I haven’t experienced that.

Some stores will tell you that F&P do not make low profile in the 8kg but this is rubbish. You need to look at the model number which will begin “WL” not “WA”.

I was a bit wary of the big knob to dial up the type of load, thinking it was a backwards step, but it is very easy to use. The electronic buttons are very responsive - your finger only needs to be close to them, not really touching.

It cost an extra $400 but I figured that if it lasts as long as my previous F&P, I will be well pleased.

the same capacity. Still trying to work out how to save my washing preferences but it is only early days but it is easy enough just to set them each time. So much quieter than my last model.. I haven't had any problems so far with unbalanced loads unlike my last model which always had issues when washing sheets etc. No problems with tangling of clothes... just remember to place them correctly as per instructions not just "dump" them in machine. Love the fact that it tells me when to clean my washing machine (like the last model I had). Love the self leveling feet on the machine. Love the fact that it senses how much water is required. 10/10 for my new washer... Absolutely in love with it.... Highly recommend this model

going off balance despite repeated attempts to balance the load and even checking that the machine is level with a spirit level. I'll never buy a Fisher & Paykel washing machine again, they aren't what they used to be.

Do not buy FISHER PAYKEL WL8060P1, they wont cover under warranty – My machine broke after one year usage, however the customer service refuses to repair, she suggest that I should open my machine after running to check if there is an air bubble in the cloth.......

Having no agitator is great! – I have a family of 4 sons who are all tradies so I tend to do a LOT of washing. I do not dislike this machine but I fell it is just missing a few things. Unfortunately it is also a little noisier than my old Westinghouse machine. You also have to be careful not to put too much weight on the lid as it made of some sort of acrylic I think. However, I do love not having an agitator as I can put two whole sets of Queen set sheets in one load and I do not have to worry about my jumpers getting damaged. Sometimes the clothes can get wrapped up in themselves as they twirl around in the machine. I have had it now for a few months and have had no problems at all. I hope this helps.

Will never buy another of their products – My parents bought a new washing machine less than 12 months ago. It broke down the rude technican came out and said cockroach caused the computer to fail. Big disappointment – Very disappointed in this machine. Clothes come out with dry patches, I don’t overload the machine. Biggest disappointment is the washing of dark clothes.....have tried turning things inside out....tried many different washing products, powder vs liquid, always a mess and need rewashing. Terrible. Rubbish. my thing. Thus the clothes don't wash properly, get pilling, rip buttons and damage zippers etc. Water and energy efficient? not so much with 2nd and 3rd washes for the load, then there's the wasted detergents. Cannot wash10kg because of all these problems. Cannot soak, unless it is turned off at the wall, because it auto drains, bye bye pre-wash, then restarted it resets and empties again - nice 'safety' feature by the way. Don't try pausing for long to get that soak or it empties again....wow.

So to wash we fill it by hand....hello 1950's....again.

Oh and the 'hot wash' is a dismal failure.

The auto lock? What a joke. Read up on it.

Happy. Been using this washer for 3 months – I LIKE: 1. My sheets and socks come out so clean, I hardly need to soak them anymore (due to less water being used and the right water temperature). 2. Doesn't wear out my clothes, yet significantly reduces drying time. 3. It runs quietly. 4. Can fit more sheets and towels to the wash than my previous Fisher and Paykel with the agitator.… Read more

5.. Full load takes 35 minutes to wash, not bad.

6. The Delicate cycle is great for my most delicate clothes. I also love the Sheet and Towel cycle. Sheet don't get tangled up.

AREAS FOR IMPROVEMENT:

1. The High Efficiency function takes the water saving a bit too far, not enough water for proper rinsing. I turn it off permanently.

2. No soaking function. On Pause mode, the machine will start flushing the water itself after a while. I get around this by turning off at the power point.

3. Lint: Don't wash towels together with clothes unless you enjoy removing lints from your clothes mannually. My previous Fisher&Paykel washer that lasted me 25 years allowed me to wash them together with no lint issue at all.

4. Error message, Self diagnosis function - The first 2 loads after installation, I got error message about the load being too full, which was not the case, it worked fine after I turned off the machine and turned it back on. This hasn't happened again since. The error message is an abbreviation that didn't make sense to me, I had to look it up online to figure out what that means.

Overall, I would recommend this washer for it cleaning power, the multiple wash cycles, how quiet it is, and the quick time it takes for clothes to dry. Having the minutes left to run shown is also a nice touch. Users should read the manual instruction to get the most out of it, I think, as it is a sophisticated machine. My last Fisher&Paykel washer lasted over 20 years with just one service. This brand is my favourite.

Queen 7.5kg model purchased 21 years ago. That machine had dials and you choose the wash cycle. Half filled it, let it mix the laundry liquid into the water, add your items, finish filling it, and let it do its’ thing. You chose the water temperature, but you had to manually check how warm the warm was to make sure it was not too hot..

I think of the WL8060P1 as giving you all the benefits of a front and top loader. This means it manages its’ own temperatures and water levels and all you have to do is decide on the wash cycle type plus any adjustments, and make any adjustments settings of the load such as fabric softener, stain remover, dual wash and so on. The water temperature is set by you and then is regulated by the washer.

The start of each cycle is all about mixing the laundry liquid into the load and this uses a minimum of cold water to get the job done. When the machine does the main part of the wash, it insists the door is shut and it is locked. It still uses only as much water as is needed for the load size. This is how it gives you as efficient a wash as possible and why it has excellent energy and water usage rating.

The machine is almost silent compared to the old belt driven machine. It does, of course, make some noise, but in its’ own room with the door closed and the radio or TV on, you would be hard pressed to notice it. When it finishes, it beeps 5 times and shuts down the control panel.

While it has only been a week, the machine has had a thorough workout, being used twice per day for 5 days doing different load types: our delicates, regular and bulky clothes, towels, bedding, as well as, Our K9 companions towels and bedding.

The only issues I have had was with the delicates, which I washed in bags along with three t-shirts on the delicate cycle. I realised afterwards, that I should have upped the 300rpm spin to 700rpm. They came out a little damper than I’d like. But OK to be put on the line to finish drying. There is a Spin only cycle I could have run them through, If only I had thought of it before I started hanging them out.

The Dog bedding, which I did as a sheet load, perhaps should have been done with the Dual Wash activated, judging by the colour of the water when the machine was doing it’s soap cycle. That said, they still came out clean and fresh. I did override preset water temperature from Hot to Warm/Cold as their bedding is predominately cotton/nylon with brushed nylon blankets. The bowl was virtually spotless at the end of the wash. Not something I ever saw with the Speed Queen. Dog hair, fluff and stuff all over the tub.

Long sleeve t-shirts and shirts may best be washed in bags to prevent tangling.

I have no hesitation recommending this washing machine and Appliances Online.

Works For Us – I see a lot of people paying out on this washer but our experience has been fine. It gets used every day - usually just a small load and it always does what we expect. last forever and I am aware that power surges can damage electronics so we run ours through a surge stopper but other than that its been a totally OK workhorse.

Terrible washing results – I hate to say but this is the worst washing machine I have ever owned. Main control board stopped functioning before reaching 12 months of service. The machine doesn’t agitate much at all when washing and water level remains low, hence the washing results are terribly poor. I feel it is such a waste of money and time. clothes come out wrinkled badly, sheets through the sheets cycle comes out in a ball, yes, operation is quiet - but that’s not much use when all other aspect of the machine is considered.

I would much rather go back to a wash smart.

Do not buy the clean smart, you will regret it!!!

the options. I came back to the same model type because I didn’t want that central spindle in the way and didn’t want al, that bending!

It was smaller inoverall outsides dimensions (to fit into standard sized spaces and compete with front loaders, I suspect). The only problem I’ve had with this is I have to watch my head on the overhead drier. I’ve adjusted now!!

I finally read the instructions and found that I can modify the settings to suit my personal preferences for a particular cycle choice. The set out of the control panel is such that your selections are very visible and also easy to adjust if desired.

I like that this machine had 3 dispensers: detergent (top loading powder or wool wash), fabric softener (I use vinegar) and wash boost (liquid only).

I like that there is no central agitator. It makes it very easy to wash larger loads like doonas, dog beds and curtains. Easy loading too as I just upend a basket of washing in there and press start! Minimal distributing required unless it’s a load with fewer but large articles.

I’ve learnt to sort my washing according to fabric type and colour. It helps reduce fluff and sediment on your clothes. I must say that I’ve not noticed much of that with this machine anyway!

I recently spent time working in the laundry while it was operating. I realised that during the cycle it actually does several sprays of the detergent water over the clothes to ensure good coverage of the bits that appear to be insufficiently covered with water.

If you want the benefits of a front loader without the bending then you should consider this machine!!

Taking the time to make sure your machine is truly level (using the tiny spirit level provided) is a must if you’re to avoid it wobbling about everywhere!!

Good machine – takes awhile to get used to the way it uses much less water to wash. All items appear to come out clean. I really like the high spin as less drying time required. Clothes do come out all tangled up. It does move a lot during the spin cycle and does go off balance from time to time.  Show details

Fantastic spin dry – It's a very quiet fast or long wash cycle that the spin just about drys the cloths Iv not noticed any change in the quality off my cloths so I can only conclude that it's fantastic technology that's been put into this model. washing machine leaking. Technician has been out twice in 2 weeks regarding the black marks which ended up being from mold growing behind the bowl going through the wash. The washing machine is used twice a day on a warm to hot wash so can't understand how this can happen. I don't think the word washing machine describes this product.Technician was here 4 days ago, machine now leaking water on the floor and Fisher and Paykel saying it will be 10 days before they have a technician available to service it. Just appalling product backed by appalling customer service. We will not buy another Fisher & Paykel product.

Cons:

-no manual water level so bulky items aren't covered properly

-is rough on clothes if you use the 1100rpm spin dry. I use the 700rpm and find clothes too damp at this speed but at least they're not a tangled mess.

-overbalances ALL THE TIME with my king size sheets and doona covers

-what ever you do don't over pack, do two loads. If you put too many clothes in, particularly darks, you will have lint and detergent water marks all over your clothes and will need to re-wash.

Another thing, really too many bells and whistles on the menu, stuff I'd never use. All I really want is a good reliable machine I can adjust the water level on, that doesn't over balance and doesn't rip my clothes.

At this stage I will keep the machine but in the back of my mind I am considering selling it and buying something else.

So far so good – So I have given up on the front loaders and gone back to a top loader. Only had it for approx a month so still new. Looks the part, very quiet and sits still nicely. Large bowl is a bonus. So far the only negative would be it tangles the clothes but to date I have had no damages. Will update if I encounter any issues but i'm satisfied at the moment.
