In March 2025, FbG was commissioned for extensive repair to common areas in my multi storey residential building. It’s 27 Oct 2025, and the job has just been finished - not by FbG. We are not a massive building but we are not small. Given that FbG… Read more
was the original contractor, I hope they’d have some integrity. Not so, sadly. FBG had the supplies to do the job as of March 2025.
The damage was caused the year prior by a common area water pipe/connection bursting and flooding the hall and my (and my neighbours) mud room(s). FBG was to replace the bamboo floor planks to a matching colour, replace skirtings, caulk, repaint the walls in a timely manner.
I met FbG for a quote for replacing my own internal floors. I got a bad feeling, shifty/dodgy, and went with a company who committed to a project manager and gave me loads of information to make good decisions. They did a good job overall, not flawless, but good.
FbG did a half-*ssed job on their best days. They dallied and dithered, had no project manager, were rude to us as residents. They resisted contact by residents or the building manager. Staff showed up and told me “that’s not my problem, speak to my manager.” I did, several times, via email and through the building manager (BM), who was kept on tenterhooks because FbG were so bad at communicating.
FbG told our BM they’d be here and did not show up. They showed up without telling the BM, causing a good man to scramble so that the residents he supports would get some work done. He is superb, and FbG only made his and our lives more difficult.
The quality of work was so poor and scattershot, we had to hire a trusted local handyman to finish the work. That finally concluded today for me. This handyman is still working on other floors and areas.
The floors and work areas were left filthy. Residue was left everywhere and, while my area is done, the halls are not. Caulking and floors joins near the window still looks horrible and I worry about rain ingress. The cuts and joins of the planks are ramshackle at best throughout the hall. I gave updates, requests for better, to the BM consistently, and he passed them on.
Today, the handyman came and made the joins on my mudroom look better with caulking. It’s was a horrible extended experience, flavoured with arrogance, condescension, disorganisation, careless attitudes and a lot of “don’t bother me” attitude. My home looks good because I had to pursue good work - FbG was unable to provide it. More to the point, FbG did/does not care whether they did a good job or not. They got their money (insurance job). I had an opportunity to employ them directly, so glad I didn’t.
I’m glad to be shot of FbG. The trusted handyman did a thorough job. FBG, for all its posh pompous posturing, cannot do the job. We have them many opportunities to do it and they cbf.
Follow-up · Questions have been asked, I've been told. Answering the three that were given by PR: 1) What caused the delay - poor / absent organisation. FbG didn't appear to have a project manager to connect the dots and ensure the job was completed. My neighbours and I had to keep telling our building manager what still had not been done. In turn he asked… Read more
GREENSBOROUGH FLOOR SURFACING CO PTY LTD and Stuart let me down with substandard quality of work and customer care – When I first met [Name Removed], he told me his quote wouldn’t be the cheapest but he assured me of the quality of his work. We agreed on a timeframe for work completion based on assurance [Name Removed] had received from his supplier that the stock was available. The work was twofold – sanding and polishing of existing floors and laying down new… Read more
timber floors. When [Name Removed] started work the house was empty and his crew had full access. After sanding down the existing floors [Name Removed] painted them in a colour that was completely different to the original colour (which I made clear I loved). The change of colour was done without consulting me. The subsequent tinting resulted in white patches and dark lines all over the floors. The first attempt by [Name Removed] to rectify this failed. By that point we had to move in. [Name Removed] second attempt to rectify the substandard polishing required sanding back to bare. He was apologetic and assured me there would be minimal disruption for our family. This was not the case. The week that followed was a nightmare of paint fumes, inability to access large parts of the house and my family being cramped into a single room. After each new sanding I had to clean dust from the walls, kitchen benchtops, cabinets and appliances. While the company’s terms and conditions warn about that, I would have expected this to be a single event and not something I would have to do 3 times. In his response to my complaint [Name Removed] wrote that he agreed to complete the work in stages, which was not originally quoted on but undertaken “willingly” and that he had worn additional costs in completing the work. He said the original floor was finished to a “very high standard” omitting the fact that he didn’t consult with me about his decision to deviate from the original colour so significantly or that the work carried out to rectify the error in colour was substandard. During our subsequent telephone conversation [Name Removed] stressed he re-sanded and re-stained the floor without asking me to pay. This comment shows a complete disregard for the basic consumer guarantee under the Australian Consumer Law that businesses will deliver services with due skill and care. I am attaching photos of patches and lines on my brand-new extended timber floor. I leave it to the readers of my review to decide if this is the quality of work one would expect regardless of the cost. I have not asked [Name Removed] to fix this because I have lost faith in his business. And yes, I did ask for a reasonable adjustment of the price which [Name Removed] declined because “dates and scheduling are estimates only” and he had “not taken any short steps throughout and have worn additional costs in completing the works”.
Could not be happier with the workmanship and quality of our floors – We recently had our complete flooring layed by Floors by Greensborough. It is Spotted Gum. I cant express highly enough the workmanship carried out was excellent. It can be very hard to get a company that can lay, seal and polish floors without a hiccup, but we were very impressed by the professionalism, quality and time that it took to… Read more
complete our floors. Thank you very much Stuart Scott. Your years of experience working in the industry shows and everyone we have referred to you are also impressed. Joan from Donvale, Vic.
Terrible company. Do not use these parasites – Organised twice just to have Stuart come and look at my job, him knowing I was driving an hour and a half each time. Was stood up both times with no notice after confirming that day or the night before he would be there. Can not stress how much of a loser this bloke is.
Perfect result – After reading Leanne's review I was concerned but I had the opposite result. They were delayed 2 days but then completed my floors in the agreed time. There was a miss but they came back and fixed it. Very happy with the result and that they stand by their service and workmanship.
Crap service. Keep away – Paid for champagne and got water. Disgusting company and [name removed] will shrug you aside and talk crap. DONT USE THEM
Love, Love, Love my new floor – Floors by Greensborough removed slate, then installed new Hardwood flooring blending into existing flooring in other area's of my home. We could not be more happy with the end result as you can not tell where the new starts and the old finishes. The sanding and staining resulted in a magnificent floor. They were very clean and courteous. Arrived… Read more
when they said they would. I shopped around but knowing how long I would have to look at and walk on these floors "QUALITY" was so important-I know I made the right choice not to go with a cheap and possibly nasty quote. There are businesses out there cheaper than Stuarts but there is no sense in paying one single dollar for a sub standard job. I would highly recommended FBG
Manager Needs Anger Management Classes – Not a happy experience, the manager Stuart was rude, intimidating,a real bully when l raised some concerns do not recommend
Excellent service – We have had Floors by Greensborough sand and seal our floors several times over the last twenty years. We have always found the service and the professional approach of the sanders to be exemplary. I would have no hesitation in recommending them to any prospective clients.
Professonal approach and outstanding outcome – A brilliant team effort in preparation, laying parquetry, sanding and staining resulted in a beautiful floor. Highly recommend the company
Great results – We had our parquetry floor originally laid 25 years ago by Floors by Greensborough. They were great to work with then and we have had the same experience again. We had our floor repaired, sanded and re-polished. The workmen were there as advised and we are very happy with the end result. Our floor looks brand new again. I highly recommend Floors by Greensborough.
LOVE my new Floor! – Floors By Greensborough sanded and polished my Tasmanian oak floorboards late last year. I wasn't sure exactly what colour for them to stain it and they were so helpful in applying stains on my floor for me to choose from. I have a gorgeous grey/brown mid tone floor with a great finish exactly what I wanted! The guys were very helpful and friendly… Read more
and made it easy. My friends have all complimented my floors. I would highly recommend Floors By Greensborough.
Extremely Poor Service - Overcharged – Requested to have some water-damaged floors repaired. A quote was provided and agreed to. After the job had been finished to a very poor quality FBG then attempted to charge me three times the original quote. I asked for clarification as to why the invoice was so high and they told me that the quote I had received was wrong and that I would… Read more
have to pay the money or they would send debt collectors after me. I also explained that I was unhappy with the quality of the work and they responded by saying that the work was fine and that I had to deal with it. Overall I am extremely unhappy with the whole experience and would not use this company's services in the future. In addition to this I have paid the value of the quote and FBG are continuing to harass for the remainder of the money. I also had to get another company to complete the job.

Excellent work by a lovely bloke – After seeing some of the reviews on here we were a tad sceptical but FBG gave us a guarantee so we decided to give them the benefit of the doubt and we did not regret it! The gentleman they sent out was not only a perfectionist, an extremely hard worker, with a precise attention to detail, but he was also a lovely man who we grew to trust… Read more
implicitly. We couldn't recommend them more. We had cork floors put in throughout the living room, dining room and kitchen and they look absolutely fantastic -- just what we wanted. The job only took a day longer than we expected, but the reasons were unavoidable. Thanks so much the team at Floors by Greensborough! Fast, dedicated, fantastic attention to detail
Warning to all – These guys are the worst floor people in the country. Left sanding marks everywhere. Stain all over my freshly painted walls. Destroyed my side skirts. The manager is rude. Warning to all. Do not use these guys. Should be shut down. Wouldn't let then sand a clothes peg, they would stuff it up somehow. Everything. Bad service. Rude manager.
Great service, great floors – We engaged Floors by Greensborough to repair and strengthen our sub-floor, and then supply and install our hardwood floating floor. The company provided excellent advice, the material is great quality and the service was impeccable. We are completely happy with the final result. Thank you to [name removed] and all concerned. Service and quality were great! Store is not open on Saturday afternoon
Incompetent sub contractors and poor result, along with shocking admin team – These guys quoted to do a full sand and polish of my baltic floors, they did such a terrible job, the floor was covered in dusty lumps and sanding marks in the polish because they used paper that was too course. I would not recommen them - to top it off the admin team could not even spell my name and are rude - they hung up on me when i tried to call them to discuss the matter.
Devastated & Appalled – Following very minor water damage to a beautiful solid timber Jarrah floor the insurance person brought in "Floors by Greensborough" to advise and I met their representative on site. Lovely man. The damage was so minor and in a descrete area so it was line ball whether to do anything at all. I was advised by Greensborough to have a light sand and… Read more
re finish as it would be good for the floor.
I had to move out while work was done but old I would be back in the following week (10 days total).
First issue: F by G made an incorrect choice regarding the finish to put on the floor. This meant that the original floor finish rejected new finish, it looked appalling - part matt, part shiny and the rest smeared. I was NOT told that there was a problem and had to 'discover' it myself the night before the furniture was to be brought back in. Consequently I could not move home.
We had a meeting onsite next day, F by G barely apologised but explained the error and said they would remove the incorrect surface and re sand, then apply new finsih for me to inspect in 2 days.
Second issue: I turned up 2 days later as requested and not only wasn't the floor finished to the standard they advised, it was only half sanded. Even more upsetting was that they had sanded against the grain and there were now circular scratch marks all over the floor. Even I know not to sand against the grain!
Third issue: They had applied the new finish to a small area of floor for me to look at and it was terrible, they had applied the coating over circular scratch marks left by sanding, the new finish was also bubbling and being 'rejected' and was rough and furry.
At this point I said no more, they have had two cracks at my beautiful floor and it has been damaged more each time, I am not giving them a third crack at ruining it.
I am still not able to move back in to my home, my floors are a mess and I am awaiting expert advice on how to remedy the situation.
Feeling devastated and totally let down. I advise you stay away from this company.
1. Incorrect choice of finish by Greensborough meant my floor surface was ruined, should have done a test patch but did not. 2. Did not let any one know something had gone wrong which caused even more inconvenience. 3. Sanded against the grain damaging the floor even more. 4. Again did not tell anyone anything that things had gone wrong. Conclusion: No quality control, substandard workmanship, no regard for my property.
Amateur – We had wooden floors that got damaged by some water. Through our body corporate, they arranged for Floors by Greensborough http://www.gfloors.com.au/ - run by a guy named [name removed], to come and do our floors. They assessed and said we needed to get it sanded, and repolished etc. They took a good 4 days to do it, meanwhile i lived… Read more
away from home.
The first day I came into the house, i found the floor to be dull and very dusty, rubbish wasn't taken away and door stopper still detached.
Called [name removed] and he apologised and said it was a mistake on their behalf, because I wanted a shiny glossy finish and he had put a Satin finish in.
A few days later, they send a guy to repolish the floor.... i then have to live away from again....i come back home the next day, looked at it thinking it's all good....
The next day i take a closer look, and there's patches where they've missed! They've sprayed the glossy stuff and it's got dried bubbles of gloss and there's patches that aren't done!
I contact [name removed] and he apologises again, and has to send someone out again to do it. I am now having to move away from home for another night...
A real big pain, very amateur, no quality control. Admittedly [name removed] has apologised, but a real pain. Would probably not go with these guys if you wanted hassle free floor polish/restoration services. It's just not good enough.
If [name removed] wasn't apologetic, i would have rated this 1 star, but 2 stars due to his acceptance of their errors
