Fulcrum

For a premium product there are flaws, parts and support are marginal – I've ridden Fulcrum Racing 3, Racing 0 rim brake and Racing 0 carbon disc brake wheels. These are touted as premium wheels. The Good; - aluminium and carbon wheels are both stiff - the free hubs are quiet which I like. The Bad; - spokes are propriety and different between models even in the same range. - spokes are difficult to obtain. Bike… Read more
Bug who are the distributor in Australia have few, if any - spokes are expensive if available. Approximately $20 each - spoke nipples are aluminium, spokes are aluminium. I suspect they are non-compatible alloys as the threads corrode quickly therefore you're not able to true a wheel without a rather large risk of snapping the spoke. - Racing Zero wheels advertise ceramic bearings. This is misleading as the bearings in the freehubs aren't and they fail at around the 12 month mark causing the free hub to wobble. - Replacing bearings in the freehub is not as easy as it could be as the shape on the drive side is not circular and it's impossible to get a bearing puller in it and a punch is difficult. - Freehub is made of a white material which is softer than the cassette so it starts to get indentations after a short period of use. - Support from Italy is atrocious. I've never had them respond when contacted. - Documentation on the website is difficult to locate for the wheel being looked up making it near impossible to get correct part numbers. - warranty is not complied with. Spokes have broken within the warranty period and retailer does not want to honour it claiming spokes require maintenance without saying what that maintenance is. - braking tracks on rim brake wheels are soft. I went through two sets of racing zero wheels despite cleaning pads and tracks after rides and grit would wear the track out after a couple of months of rain.
