Terrible – Very badly designed stove which is incredibly frustrating to operate and constantly switches itself off. I would not recommend this stove. It is also very expensive - to represent such bad design is surprising. This stovetop has a very large cooktop area means that you can fit a lot of saucepans on it at once. It is also made of very solid materials, so when you move pots across the stove the supporting metal parts do not move with the pots like so many other stoves do. This stove has always had problems, and despite numerous call outs to the manufacturer it has never been fixed. The stove has no problem igniting and lighting, but once it has been turned on, it will often switch itself off within a matter of seconds, and i will have to come back and re-ignite it. It is very frustrating!! I would therefore not recommend this stove. The metal parts on the stove are also so heavy that it makes it hard to lift up and clean.
Terrible – A disappointing and frustrating stove to operate as it regularly switches itself off. After sales service at Sampford is not only rude and unhelpful (it took many calls to get someone to firstly give advice which did not rectify the problem) and even more calls to get someone to my home to have a look at it (under warranty). In my home the technician told me I should "realign" the ignition and burner pieces after wiping the stove clean as this was what was causing the problem! Sometimes doing this does 'fix' the problem although it can take a few goes. Shame the sales/demonstration person at Sampford didn't tell me this before I purchased this product (as I wouldn't have). I wonder if you get this sort of 'performace'and 'service'from a Rolls Royce (apparently I was buying the equivalent stove)? I never recommend Gaggenau (or Sampford) to anyone. The size of this cooktop is great as you can fit lots of saucepans on it. This stove has always had problems igniting and/or 'staying on'- it either won't ignite or will often switch itself off shortly after igniting.
Have had Gaggenau cook top for yrs and only one of the 3 gas jets works and have ever worked. 2 jets will not ignite easily and if they happen to , do not stay on. Don't buy these products..Tried to get Samford to help over the years and could not get satisfaction. Now have to try and find product to fill space in bench top. with out redoing the whole kitchen.

I have found shimming the grates up slightly helps with this problem on the smaller version of this stove. On my stovetop the inner burner ring often goes out at high burner settings once a pan has been set on the grate. If this happens before the auto shutoff sensor has warmed up the gas shuts off.
