Rolls Royce of Fridges, NOT! – Our Gaggenau RB491200 Fridge Freezer is less than 4 years old. The fridge part packed up 6 weeks ago. A Gaggenau engineer arrived to fix it and announced that it had a leak in the condensor system and was beyond repair! Gaggenau have offered us a replacement at concessionary price of over 2 thousand pounds!!!! In the US they come with 5 year warranties, my advice is don't settle for less, in fact buy a Hotpoint they usually come with that anyway!
Unreliable, catostrophic failure in under 4 years and Manufacturers response was underwhelming.
I'd be interested in your outcome. In the end I emailed Gaggenau head office in Munich and they eventually replaced the whole thing at the cost of just under 1500 UKP. The amount our insurer was prepared to contribute. That's another story, if you have any maintenance contracts read the small print. Ours was with British Gas and buried in their 15000 word small print Ts and Cs on-line was a single sentence that stated if an item was over 3 years old and beyond repair they only pay one third of the replacement cost!

This is interesting as our Ry491 is less than 18 months old and began leaking water into the ice making compartment just before Xmas. We have a call out for the engineer who is due tomorrow so will be interested to know what they say and whether it is the same issue! I can't believe that on a £5k fridge they only have a 1 year warrenty! My Leibherr was 1/5 of the price and is now 10yrs old without any issues!
