Mine works fine – I got mine second hand. I've had it for just over 2 years and never had any of the issues listed here. Seals are good, froths well, pump pressure is good. Must be some lemons out there, but this isn't one of them. Had no problems with it so far. .  Show reply

I don't want to go anywhere near a machine like this – Never liked since I first started it. It looks good but that's all. It is noisy, rattles and very unreliable. To start with the group seal went brittle after just 3 months and had to be replaced. It was done under warranty but ever since I had to replace it myself every 3 month anyway because it just happened the same and it was inconvenient to… Read more

take to the repair shop every time.

Then it would not pump as it used to and eventually broke down completely. This was about 1 1/2 years after I bought it. The repair shop "fixed" it under warranty but the pumping was just the same. I brought it back the week after but this time they told me that the problem was the boiler which was clogged up with limescale due to lack of maintenance/descaling.

Well, I have descaled it, every 3-5 months, but apparently it was not enough. And they told me that I should have used purified water. When I chose to buy the the thing, there was no warning about the degree of maintenance it requires.

Nor that I have to buy a water purifier to have the stupid machine working. Ah, and on top of all, the repair shop wants $60 for the last job because they say it was my fault, or pay $375 to fix it. I'll just leave the thing there and never get close to any other Gaggia or Saeco for instance because they are all the same. Looks It does not work as I expected, customer service is poor

Terrible – do not buy this model .You will be disappointed and disillusioned .Out of 12 weeks a quarter of this time has been spent getting the run around and being fixed .Not reliable not as advertised . looks nice . breaks down often .Within 1 month of purchase no hot water at all .Coffee is only lukewarm .The steamer worked once and then didn't bother to… Read more

foam again.Put in for servicing. However after the first repair minimum foam -So flat white it is.I had to settle for this or else the machine would be spending more time in repair that in my kitchen .Then 5 weeks after the first repair the steam attachment just fell of .Another round of repairs .This machine is only been in use for 9 weeks and been in servicing for 3 weeks.

Terrible – This is a lemon! If you are seriously thinking about buying one, get the shop to give you a taste test from this machine first... You'll be looking elsewhere. We picked it up on sale, thinking we were getting a good price but savings are negligible if the product is rubbish! We bought the machine yesterday and after about 50 attempts, varying… Read more

grind, adjusting pour time, varying quantity of coffee, experimenting with different tamping tools and techniques, we still did not have one drinkable coffee. It was consistently burnt and bitter. Thinking we had dud coffee beans, we whacked some in the old Breville machine (which cost 1/6 the price) and had a smooth coffee with a rich crema in seconds. The milk frother doesn't work at all, sending out a shot of warmish-water to dilute your milk. Yuck! Will be back at the shop tomorrow to demand a refund!

Terrible – One of the worst appliances I have ever bought. If a machine can possibly have permanent PMT, this is the one. You never know from one moment to the next what it will do. One day it will purr like a kitten and behave exactly as it should, the next day it will randomly spray boiling hot water all over you. Will never buy this, or any Gaggia product… Read more

for that matter, again. makes good coffee when it chooses to work. The steamer/frother has NEVER worked properly - from day one. If ever the steamer did try to work, it would either choke a pathetic little dribble of hot air out or shoot a powerful hit of steam that would spray milk everywhere. Then the whole steamer bit fell off completely. The unit has been in for repair twice in just over 12 months - for other issues besides the steamer, no one can fix that apparently. I have tried repeatedly to set the water timer without success. It never dispenses the same amount of water each time. Sometimes it turns on when it shouldn't and then refuses to switch off. The drip tray is too shallow and now the enamel has started to flake off.

Bad – OK, this unit looks good on the outside, and works ok for a while, but I am about to take it back for the 3rd time and will try and swap it for a new one. The first swap was due to a foul smell from the plastics that I couldn't get rid of for a fortnight after using it. It also tasted foul. The shop people agreed it smelled horrible and gave me a… Read more

replacement unit (there is a review somewhere else online where this is mentioned as a problem). The 2nd and 3rd times is due to a faulty group head. It just starts releasing water on it's own when it's turned on. Lastly I have noticed that the underneath painted plate is rusting. It is where the water back pressurises into the tray. This unit is 10 months old! I have a 8 year old Gaggia Tebbe that has been awesome and I bought this one after it stopped working. Turns out it just needed a new pump - fixed for under $100. The gaggia technician informed me (on the second repair of the baby twin) that all the parts inside this unit are the same as the gaggia classic and other cheaper gaggia units - save your money and buy one of those instead! looks good, simple to use. Single/twin shot makes things easy Prone to breakdown, steamer too slow and produces too much 'wet'steam (water), hard to keep clean, double heating system not what it's made out to be.
