Gaggia Espresso Pure

Best price/value espresso machine – This is a great machine although you do need to practice to get a great cup of espresso. This was my first semi/automatic machine so it took me around 50 coffees to get perfect. You need to know the right grind size, the right pressure with the tamper and the amount of water that goes through the coffee. Believe me, making a great espresso takes… Read more · 2
a lot of research and practice and it is worth it!
With this machine you can get perfection if you put in the time and energy.
Have fun!
A delight for Coffee Lovers – I bought this coffee maker as a gift for my father who is pretty addicted to coffee. I had previously bought the Gaggia Evolution for myself a couple of years ago absoloutly love it. I decided to go with the Pure this time round due to the fact you can fit a normal mug under the filter and delivery spout and also becuase I found a very good… Read more
deal online... I payed just under $300 for a brand new one.. Like the Gaggia evolution, the Pure looks very simple and doesn't take up loads of space.
The water tank is well positioned at the back and top meaning it can be easily removed and refilled. (With the Evolution, it has to be pulled out from the side which is a bit annoying)
And most importantly, it makes really good coffee and always gives a good crema on the top. My dad managed to pull great shots of espresso basically from the first time, and although he had already used espresso machines, I think the instructions would allow first-timers to learn pretty quickly.
Overall, a bit light, but for the money, it produces really good coffee that's probably better than you'd get in a lot of cafes - and you can choose exactly how you want it.
I really can't understand all the negative reveiws as this coffee machine is a delight ..
TIPS: I'd recommend taking time (and a bit of extra cash) to get the right coffee. Remember and turn it on a good while before you want to pour a coffee to allow it to heat the water properly. And lastly, I recommend investing in a good coffee grinder and grinding your own coffee beans .. I own the Gaggia MM steel grinder and love it :) Very nice coffee everytime, east to use and clean Light weight
Stay away!! – Followed all cleaning instructions to the tee, machine filter broke within the fist 3 months of use. As parts come from Italy, the machine was with the repair shop for 3 months! Filter holes are really hard to clean (need use a fine needle). 12 months after getting matching back, it started to leak around the group head and make really… Read more
bad/watery coffee. Sent to repair shop again under extended warranty. They repaired the machine (this took 3 months yet again), received the machine back and it only made 2 OK-ish coffee's. Sent it back again a 3rd time, 2 months later the repair shop have had to "write off" the machine, saying they can not repair it!
We owned the machine for 23months, 8 of which where at the repair shop being repaired! I think it may have been cheaper to buy coffee from our local shop every day!! May have also saved us having to go through the headache of no coffee in the morning!! It looked nice & didn't take up much bench space- that's all I can say!
Good – my 1st coffee didnt look so good, only cos i think my coffee was too cold and is apparently the wrong grind for the machine. even though it still was a nice coffee solid coffee holder, milk foam thing worked well on the 1st use. nothing as yet, will keep you posted
Excellent – This machine looks great and makes a fantastic coffee.I brought it from Myer for $270 because it was an unpopular model. The guy said it took ages to reheat between cups. This isn't true and I have been able to bang out 5 coffees in 5 minutes and by the time I have refilled the head its ready to go. I highly recomend this machine. Makes superb… Read more
crema, easy to use and clean, froths milk well. Milk frothing arm is a little short but makes superb coffee so I can deal with it, doesn't come with a frothing jug.
Bad – Makes good coffee and froth but I suspect it will fail again as the froth adjust shaft gets so hot melting the inside of the knob so will keep you posted. Looks nice and has plenty of steam ability Steamer adjuster knob got hot and melted inside twice so had to get repaired under warranty
