Get's the job done – It's a big and hefty mower with power to cut thick grass. It fills the catcher to the brim and idles reliably which I like. Mine won't start without a spray of octane boost into the carby intake and then it fires up first time and starts normally afterwards. I check the oil and always keep a spare spark plug handy and always clean it top to bottom… Read more
after every job. I also restart it after cleaning up to make sure I haven't got water where I shouldn't, this gives me peace of mind.
Great Lawn mower – My wife and I bought 2 nine years ago and both still going strong. They start first time and I have not had a moment’s trouble and have not even replaced the spark plugs! Show details
Good mower – Good mower, heaps of grunt and very reliable. Good for small to medium size lawns. Good on fuel and catcher is a decent size. Decks are very good, have not seen one rusted out and paint job is very good. Never had a problem with them, people who are carrying about them being crap have obviously never maintained them. Very easy to preform maintenance on. Show details
Worst thing I’ve ever dealt with – Doesnt start Bought brand new Carborator is crap Petrol leaks Absolute Garbage Feel like chucking it down a driveway in a fit of rage I’m a mower mechanic and still can’t figure out why it doesn’t work Show details
Excellent for small-medium yards – For the price, this was about as much guts as you could get out of a mower. Self-primed to kick off with one pull, easy to find parts (It's a rebranded Sanli), solid steel deck, easy height adjustment and fold down handle for easy storage. I used it for a lawn mowing business and had it running at full throttle 25-30 hours a week. Fuel consumption… Read more
was average for this size. I would recommend servicing earlier as the carburetor tends to need a good clean more than I'd like - possibly because I used it more in a week than the average owner would in a year. Also, mowing higher grass while wet is not a fun experience on any mower, but with this one it tended to clump more than I'd like, blocking the discharge shute to the catcher before it was even half full. The catcher sits at a slightly upturned angle. No problems with mowing dry grass (as you should). A trustworthy workhorse!
Heap of junk – Absolute heap of junk, hard to start runs very rough, no guts and all over, a bloody waste of time and money. The maker should be made to compensate as to sell these is bordering on criminal intent. Show details
11 years of trouble free mowing! – This mower has not let me down for 11 years. Never needed repairs of any kind and it is still working perfectly after all these years. Wish they would still be available just in case I need to replace it some day. Show details
10 year and still going!! – Purchased it from Kmart. Has done my lawns and my kids for over 10 years. Strong even in wet heavy grass. Reliable start, wide cut, catch’s well.. have cleaned the air filter and changed the fuel filter..Can’t fault:-) Would definitely would buy one again! (Hope I don’t jinx myself. ) Show details
Awesome performance – I had one of these given to me for christmas 7 years ago and it hasn't had an issue since. It still starts first go and has had a lot of use. I even used it in a lawnmowing business for a while. It has been reliable and is still going well. The only down side I find is that it can be difficult to find blades etc for Show details
Reason For Failure – The plastic valve timing gear when hot slips around relative to crank timing. I rebuild my Motor ..and reset the timing angle and its ok now. Designed to fail. Metal is too thin for the engine. Mounts..add big flatbar wasers after repair. And ok for now but how long. I would never buy one. Show details
Had a couple of these – Yeah i have found two of these machines within the last couple of years .. both have had little use .. obviously not running I would say owners couldn't be bothered with them. ..>> So were ditched I have tried to get them going to no avail<. But just in the last two months i have picked up first a Shopseries branded Mower.. It's a Supercheap… Read more
Brand. and then the same mower with different livery... They both fired up with a couple of squirts of encouragement juice..
So the point is they are both the same apart from the carbys which seems to be their root of all their evil.
Goodnite Stevil.
Gutless and appalling performance – This is the worst mower I have ever owned, but wait. There are some good points: it is quiet, it starts very easily (until recently) and the catcher works well. For the rest: it does not, and never has, cut grass that is long or tough; it is badly balanced and awkward to manoeuvre; the cutting deck rides on the ground if the height setting is low enough to cut lawn. It doesn't cut grass: it tries to intimidate it and beat it to death. Show details
Lawn mower – Since purchasing this machine over 3 years ago, unfortunately I have had many starting issues at different times. Once the mower is running the outcome of job required is very pleasing. Once I have had the need to tighten and maintain nuts etc for blades stability also. Mower still refuses to stay running. Show details

Insane Mower (never any real issue) – I bought it from Kmart back around May 2011. It's been going strong ever since, never had an issue with it starting, I did decide to service it in 2016, because i though oil needed changing, bought a spark plug, Oil, replaced, Rubber Hose that was connecting to the engine (not fuel). When I took the oil out, it was about 70% of What I put in,… Read more
which is amazing. After 5 Years it still had 70% of the Oil. I estimated I've used it for about 150 to 200 Hours, Maybe it has 2 years more of life, who knows.
Excellent – I bought this mower n it's only just had enough after 13 yrs ... Making a knocking noise... Seems 2 had blown a rod ??? Over all she's been a total winner... I got mine from Kmart 2... So in not having a mower looked online good old gumtree picked up one for $70 doesn't have a catcher but I do lol... Winning even if I can get a few yrs out if this one I'll be happy xxxx Show details
Hasn't missed a beat! – Brought this lawn mower about three years ago and have never had a single problem with it. I cut my lawn and most of my extended families lawns. Some of these lawns are quite large area and are occasionally very long or overgrown. I am very very happy with my purchase. Its still going strong. Starts first or second pull of the chord every time. Show details

Has done a fantastic job over 5 years – No issues until now wear can I take it to get fixed? Blades are buggerd and choke lead not working. needs a major service. Fantastic lawn mower starts first pull until now. A lot of mower places won't touch it. So please let me know where I can get it fixed. On a disability pension so I have limited money. Can't effort to get a new mower. Show details · 1
Excellent Mower – Brought a Gardner's Choice 4 Stroke Lawn mower from K Mart. One of the best, most robust, lawn mowers I have ever had. Not one single thing has gone wrong with it - until I forgot to put some engine oil in it. And that's nobody's fault but my own. Heading out to buy another one. K Mart have stopped stocking them, as that's where I got it back in Jan 2014, and where I was hoping to pick up a new replacement.
A great hand mower – I purchased my first Gardeners Choice mower three years ago, I have found it a great mower to use , very easy to start , reliable, quiet. Just so easy to push due to the high handles and ball bearing wheels, the price was so good I went and bought another one, have absolutely nothing negative to say about this mower
Appears to be very good value – Purchased new from K Mart just before Christmas and have used it once for about 20 minutes. Have a small yard and did a lot of research on line before deciding on the Gardeners Choice. Previously had a Honda mower. First pull of the Gardeners Choice the handle parted from the starting cord. Repaired and the mower took about 5 pulls before… Read more · 1
starting. Mows beautifully, much quieter than the Honda and used less fuel. One of the very few mowers with a proper carburettor and it actually idles.Hope that I have a good experience, but backed by a two year warranty.
You only get what you pay for – Just bought second hand Gardeners Choice. One of the wheels fell off after 5 mins. work. Then I noticed an 8mm hole on air intake. Would have been sucking abrasive grit into engine. I wish I bought something else as new item.

Harder work than the garden – Used the mower for three months and then moved around the country. Mower in storage. Next time I used it was 20 months later. Fortunately still under warranty as the throttle lever snapped. Got that replaced, Two months later, manifold fell off. Fixed it and then a month later started making a clunking sound and vibrating badly. The mower then… Read more
became very incontinent, dripping oil all over the driveway. Had to get a pressure washer to wash it off. They certainly cut the grass, but the associated work keeping the piece of junk running doesn't warrant saving a few bob. Just going out to buy a real mower.
The maltese mower – Perfect for cutting the concrete. love the 4wd tyres. paid cash!!!!! this maltese mower would be better with airbags, i only used the training wheels for 3 months then i was confident to drive it myself. i usually sleep while my wife cuts the concrete. i even painted it green to look like grass.the catcher never gets full. Maltese mafia approved The 4wd tyres No air bags
Get what you pay for – Bought my first Gardeners Choice lawnmower roughly 2yrs ago, big fail. Return to shop and get a replacement and before the 24 months is up shaft seal goes. (I KNOW MECHANICS SO NO CONNING ME OK) very quick job turns into 2 months and after calling repairer get treated like a dog, told I do not keep up maintnance and dirt entered seal. Are you… Read more
serious after 2yrs I learn grass grows in DIRT. 2 mowers in 2yrs and its not only the seal gets shafted I DO TOO second one lasted 19 months yahoo :) poor quality assurance, very bad customer service. AND A COUNCIL BILL
Gardener's Choice Premium Cut 4 Stroke Lawnmower – Kmart at Chirnside Park in Victoria were very helpful and friendly at the goods pickup area. Happily unpacked it and assisted in getting it into the car and recycled the packaging. My old mower had an alloy deck which wasn't going to rust....instead the motor blew up and it was expensive when i bought it...this Gardener's Choice mower from… Read more · 5
Kmart is a dream to use. I would say that women would not have a problem using it and starting it. It has a 4 blade system which gave a much better finish than my old mower (which also had 4 blades). The only assembly was the catcher and a simple oil fill and i was in to it. It also had great balance which mean't that it was very easy to change direction and use.
I would happily buy this again even though i have only used it once.....oh and i nearly forgot - It was really quiet....i was surprised at how quiet it was for a petrol mower. Big wide cut, Top fill petrol tank, very easy to start, excellent grass catching with no trails left behind or needing to go back to pick up again which leaves a great finish. Very easy to push which did it in less time and less effort than my old 4 stroke mower. 2 year warranty from Kmart at $248 on special in September 2011 Grass catcher was tricky to put together. Has 2 screws which were easy enough but pushing the plastic clips together while trying to keep the others lined up was a challenge that needed a bit of strength and patience.. Luckily...you only have to do this once.
Impressed, Gardener's Choice Premium Cut GCS400 – Just got my Premium Cut before Christmas after my old mower died. Got it home, unpacked it, filled with oil and petrol, pulled cord and started first go, better than my old Brigg and Stratton, it never started first go. Did forums research on line, some good, others, if you didn't spend around $800 on a Honda you get a put down(a bit of a upper… Read more · 4
stiff lip). I'm on a budget and I found it to be good value for the price, after all, I'm using it to cut grass not to show off in front of my neighbors. I am Impressed and happy so far, 2 years warranty and is a Sanli in disguise with a copied Honda motor, I believe that you can only have what you can afford. Value for money, easy start, quiet and sturdy.
My experience with the Gardener's Choice Premium Cut GCS400 – I purchased the GCS400 from Kmart in August 2011, it was quite reliable. I had been using the lawn mower on a farm about 3 days a week for a total of 5 months. It lasted about 5 months before it died. Now it still actually starts but makes an awful clunking noise when I pull the cord. The oil it came with was never changed, which probably… Read more · 2
contributed to the engine failure. I probably estimate that I used it continuously for 60 days and cut about 10 acres of grass. It was surprisingly reliable, my only advice for using it - don't leave it out in the rain.
I would probably buy another one, this time I plan to use synthetic oil, changed periodically and compare its lifespan with the existing mower I used. Reliable, cost effective Fuel leaks if you tilt the mower in order to access the blades, you have to wait for it to cool down
