Gasmate Apollo Series

Gasmate Apollo BBQ, good material content but a silly design flaw – This is a two burner gas BBQ with a folding hood. I have just bought from OO at a v.good clearance price. I have cooked one meal on it which it did perfectly. Meat seared on the grill can be left on the upper shelf with the hood down to rest and so end up with a perfect steak. I noticed a problem the next day. There was a greasy stalagmite of congealed fat on the base of the BBQ while the grease tray was still clean. The reason was that internal shelves back and front, to catch the fat and allow it to drip into the grease tray, did not have enough slope. They were only spot welded to the side of the BBQ leaving a crack for the hot fat to drip through. Even with those corrected, the shelves need guides at each end to ensure the fat ends up in the grease tray, as it is not as wide as the BBQ.
I shall try and correct the problem with twin stick putty and hope it withstands the heat. Almost entirely made from stainless steel. So far cooks very well Design flaws in grease capture. A spot welded bracket not welded. Column stand not as rigid as I would like. The top wobbles at the touch.
