Poor product poor service from Bunnings and Gasmate – After 18 months Lights stopped working Bunnings made me talk to Gasmate agent and was forced to buy a new transformer that did not fix issue then Bunnings told me to buy new bulbs still did not fix. Then told they would send a tech no one turned up. Then Bunnings said they would replace the BBQ at their cost. them said no here is a $200 voucher matter closed. Don’t buy this BBQ also constantly having to manage rust and is covered?
Purchased in at Bunnings Warehouse for $2,600.

Surface rust – Bought the 4 burner modular unit with pizza oven sink etc .....6 months old and under cover covered in surface rust ....which usually means inferior Chinese product ...I bought this thinking it was a good brand and would be an investment .....very disappointed 3000$ later and I am left with an eyesore

Rusty stainless steel pizza oven – We have a Gasmate stainless pizza oven which is covered in surface rust after less than 12 months!! Similar customer service experience to other posters ie not warrantable and all our fault. Given details of how to clean off and a packet of stainless steel cleaning wipes. Inferior product and very disappointing. Cooks great pizza Rusty stainless steel and bad warranty setvice
Poor quality stainless steel that rusts immediately! Very,very disappointing as the design and looks – Extremely poor back up service from Gasmate. This BBQ cost us almost $5500 and virtually started rusting from day one. Gasmate said that the BBQ was not covered for rust but our understanding of buying stainless steel and spending the amount we did, was that we never thought this would be a problem and expected much better warranty and service than we received. Gasmate did send out their rep who gave us the opinion that there definitely was a problem but head office would not do anything to help and gave us numerous, unreasonable answers why it was not their problem. I lost count the amount of times we contacted the office and rep and the problem was never followed up until we made contact once again. In the end the owner of the store where we purchased the BBQ helped us as much as possible but in the end we just wanted this rusted eyesore off our patio so had to halve the costs associated with sending the BBQ back to Gasmate as it was the condition in which they would accept the BBQ back and refund the store. This meant we were another $1000 out of pocket. We also purchased the Gasmate stainless steel pizza oven and had the same problem with rusting. Overall a very unpleasant purchase! Cooks food well, lovely looking unit until it starts to rust! Expensive for the quality of stainless steel used in manufacturing the BBQ. Very poor back up service from Gasmate!

Gasmate blamed numerous reasons why it rusted, all our fault of course, such as being too close to our salt water pool, 5 m away yet when the rep came he told me he had sold the BBQs to people who lived on beach fronts, secondly that I didn't maintain it, the BBQ started rusting after a few weeks after I got it and just became worse and worse. I would wipe the dust off weekly with a damp rag but apparently I should have been using a BBQ cleaner even though there were no maintenance instructions included with the BBQ and thirdly we live about 1km from a river and that too caused the rusting. We had a turbo BBQ for 8 years in the same position with no problems with rusting. After getting rid of the Gasmate we bought another Turbo BBQ in May and it is fine. In my opinion the stainless steel was of extremely poor quality. We thought the cooking part was okay but now we have the Turbo we realize it wasn't that good either. As I said they look lovely at first, a real talking piece, but once they start rusting ....not so. We also bought the Gasmate pizza oven and it was worse, rusting from day one as we bought the gasmate cover for it which was a plastic material and caused the stainless steel to rust at an even faster rate. The retailer took the pizza oven back to his workshop and tried to clean it up, he was very sure he could but when we went to look at his attempts it looked better but the rust had left all black marks after being cleaned. I would strongly advise against buying a Gasmate but the choice is yours and don't expect any back up service from Gasmate either, yes they sent the rep after numerous phone calls by us and he lead us to believe that there was a problem but after he reported back to head office they said it was not their problem. One employee told us that the BBQ's are not guaranteed against rusting anyway!!! All they offered was a free bottle of cleaner!! We were extremely lucky the store owner gave us the help he did but still cost us $1000 to send the BBQ and pizza oven back. Good luck if you decide to buy one as you are going to need it. Yes we also have a gamate pizza oven and it rusted and Gasmate indicate they dont warrant it and gave us multiple ways to clean it. I have a stainless BBQ that has had no problems of course it is not a gasmate. never again.

Sorry to add more insult to injury. We have had that same experience. Extremely poor quality over the top expensive "Australian" made BBQ. Not only the rusting is problem, but now the ignition has fused! Suggest getting a cheap 1000 BBQ from Bunnings with the expectation that it will fall apart after a few years. Shame that we cant support local industry which is poor quality and over price.
Lucky me, i have a brand new gas mate platinum 2 waiting to be installed, fingers crossed it doesn't rust up. ill let you know how i go.....
